Becoming the Villain's Discarded Wife -
Chapter 245
Chapter 245: Chapter 245
The person was speaking with tears pooling in his eyes, painting a heartbreaking picture.
"Don’t cry." Nanzhi knew his feelings all too well, she had been picked on as a child by classmates because she didn’t have a mom and dad; they called her a bastard.
"What’s your name again?" Hu San looked at the man and hesitated, not remembering his name.
This person couldn’t have registered himself.
"I... I am Xu Chou."
As Xu Chou spoke, his head was hung low.
"Good, you come too, we’ll go to the shop later to try things out."
"Okay."
After arranging each of the four in a small house in the front yard, Nanzhi paid a five tael of silver deposit, left the address of Baiweizhai, and then left with Shen Miaomiao.
"Sister Nanzhi, pinch me." The young girl couldn’t hide her glee upon leaving Yahang, joy was written all over her face.
Seeing her like this softened Nanzhi’s heart, she raised her hand and gave the girl’s forehead a light poke with her index finger.
"Did it hurt?"
"No." The young girl laughed heartily, her eyes sparkling like a starry galaxy, she held her forehead and giggled, "No, it doesn’t hurt, but I can feel Sister Nanzhi’s warm hand."
"Silly girl."
"Sister Nanzhi, do we really own a restaurant now?"
"Yes, we must work hard." Nanzhi’s eyes were resolute; this was her chance to get her feet on the ground in this world.
She couldn’t rely on Shen Wenchen forever, she also wanted to make something of herself; at the very least, she wanted to run her restaurant well and take good care of Zhiyu.
"Sister Nanzhi, do you know Su Tao?"
Shen Miaomiao suddenly mentioned Su Tao.
Nanzhi was somewhat puzzled and turned to look at the conflicted Shen Miaomiao.
"Of course, she stayed at your place in Lihua Village for a while, didn’t she? When I came back, wasn’t it because of her that you found out?"
"Sister Nanzhi, I think there’s something strange about her." The girl bit her lip, her recently smoothed brows furrowing again.
"Why do you say that?" Nanzhi was somewhat surprised.
"After you came back, I didn’t like her too much, but I don’t know why, sometimes when I meet her I have an inexplicable feeling that she’s good, but I can’t really explain why I feel that she’s good. Anyway, it’s very confusing."
"Really?" Even though she asked the question, Nanzhi could already guess some of it.
It was probably Su Tao’s heroine aura causing mischief, increasing her likability among the people around her, so she can accumulate fortune.
"Hmm, Sister Nanzhi, didn’t you ever feel that way?" The young girl looked at Nanzhi, her mouth pouted as she asked.
Before Nanzhi could respond, there was a commotion behind them.
"Miss Su!"
"Miss Su!"
The crowd was hustling, surrounding a slowly moving caravan. In the carriage, Susu Tao’s smiling eyes would always cause the young men’s hearts to flutter whenever she peeked through the thin layer of curtains.
Nanzhi and Shen Miaomiao were pushed aside by the throng. The young girl seemed stunned by the scale of it all.
"That, that’s Su Tao?"
Nanzhi didn’t respond, but just stared at Su Tao’s blooming smile, lost in thought.
"Everyone, please step back." Shuangshuang lifted the curtain and tried to address the crowd, but the commoners on the street continued shouting for Miss Su.
"Miss Susu, when will you be back!"
"Miss Susu, Yan City can’t be without you!"
The crowd was in an uproar. Nanzhi felt a sharp pounding in her temples.
It was only when the caravan was far away that Nanzhi was finally able to catch her breath, like a drowning person breaking the water’s surface.
"Sister Nanzhi, are you okay?" Shen Miaomiao noticed something was off and was somewhat flustered. She quickly held Nanzhi and started patting her back.
"No, it’s nothing." It took a while for Nanzhi to gather her strength. After steadying herself, she waved her hand and looked towards the direction the caravan left, her expression was complicated.
"Are you sure you’re alright?" The young girl asked with some worry.
"Mmm, I’m fine, Miaomiao, let’s go to the stall first."
"Ok."
"[Host, I just detected an energy fluctuation.]"
The system’s voice suddenly rang out, causing Su Tao’s eyelids to twitch.
"What kind of energy fluctuation? Is it an extraordinary object?"
"[Unable to confirm, the fluctuation is getting weaker.]"
The system was also somewhat confused. This small world had experienced too many unexpected events, causing it to be somewhat concerned.
"Could the extraordinary object be on Shen Wenchen?" Su Tao asked softly.
She visited the Lord’s Residence yesterday, but the system didn’t detect any extraordinary objects. When she asked the servants at the Residence, she found out that Shen Wenchen had left Yan City for Kyoto early in the morning.
"[Uncertain, but the chances are quite high.]" The system did not answer directly.
"[I only detected that the aura of Shen Wenchen and the extraordinary object are intertwined, but I can’t guarantee that it is on him.]"
"Forget it, I have to go to Kyoto anyway."
Seeing that the young lady was a bit out of sorts, Shuangshuang tactfully sat aside without disturbing her.
When the people of Yan City saw Su family’s caravan leaving the city gates, they slowly dispersed. Wang Jingzhi, staring at the dwindling caravan, sighed, clutching the medicine chest in his hand.
He just wanted to give these medicines to Shuangshuang so that she could give them to Miss Su.
When Nanzhi arrived at their food stall with Shen Miaomiao, it was not yet time for lunch, so there were still some available seats.
"Pudgy gal, Miaomiao, did you visit Yahang?" Sun Cui cheerfully greeted her younger sister-in-law and Shen Miaomiao as soon as she saw them.
"We did, sister-in-law."
"How was it? Did you find any suitable people?" As Mother Lin greeted them to sit down and poured a bowl of hot soup for each, she asked with concern.
"We found some people. We’re going to the restaurant in the afternoon to test their skills."
"Did you find a suitable manager?" This was Mother Lin’s biggest concern. After all, her daughter and Miaomiao had never done business, let alone manage a large restaurant. She would not be at ease unless they found a dependable manager.
"We found one, we found one."
Nanzhi did not elaborate, but merely gave a casual response.
"As long as you two have a plan, that’s all that matters. It’s almost noon, what would you like to eat?"
"Two bowls of dumplings will do."
"Alright, you sit tight. I’ll go and make them." Wiping her hands, Mother Lin went over to the stove with a chuckle.
Chen Qiulan and Sun Cui gathered around, looking at Nanzhi with curiosity. "Pudgy gal, are you recruiting workers this afternoon?"
"Mmm, we just visited Yahang. We will be testing the workers at the restaurant later."
Listening to her words, there was a hint of envy in Sun Cui’s eyes.
"Pudgy gal is really amazing. If only I could open a shop someday, that would be great."
Chen Qiulan glanced at her sister-in-law, wanting to say something but refrained.
"You will, sister-in-law. Don’t we already have a carpentry shop? And our food stall is doing well, it won’t be long before we can open a store."
Nanzhi joked with a smile.
"The three of us, mother and daughters-in-law, work hard together. Opening a shop is nothing." Mother Lin brought the dumplings over, her expression slightly displeased.
"Right, right, right." Sun Cui’s face grew pale and she quickly nodded in agreement.
"Eat while it’s still hot." After placing the bowls in front of them, Mother Lin gave Sun Cui a look and turned away.
Seeing her mother-in-law’s reaction, Sun Cui’s face blanched as she looked to Chen Qiulan for help.
Chen Qiulan sighed and pulled Sun Cui to her feet.
Gu Lang was looking around when he spotted Nanzhi, and his eyes lit up.
