Chapter 165: [Blizzard Manor] - Prophet’s part (12)

"Are you arguing with Bella?"

Drake looked at Fiona and suddenly asked.

Fiona was slightly startled, then scratched her head, her silly expression turning thoughtful.

Usually, even if she messed around with Bella, it was just playful teasing. Honestly, with her personality, it was hard for her to dislike anyone on the same team truly.

Fiona frowned and said softly, "I felt like Bella was a bit of an eyesore earlier..."

Bella frowned on the side but said nothing.

Luis adjusted his glasses and speculated, "Maybe you both ate the wrong dish. The wrong food could amplify conflicts between us!"

Bella mumbled, "She was just being unreasonable..."

Luis then looked at Bella and nodded, "See, Bella, usually you don’t talk back to me whether I’m right or wrong. But just now, you disagreed with me—whether a little or a lot."

Bella still wanted to say something but realized Luis wasn’t wrong. She frowned slightly and, in the end, said nothing more.

At the moment, the group had split up to search around the first floor and the outside of the mountain villa.

Drake’s group was first to observe the first floor of the mansion. It was incredibly spacious, containing not only the main hall and dining room but also the kitchen, a shared bathroom, toilet, and the rooms of the butler, maids, and chef. In addition, several other rooms had been turned into storage spaces.

The butler and two maids were still upstairs on the fourth floor, tending to their ailing master—a perfect time to sneak into their rooms.

"I’ll go to the kitchen and the chef’s room with Saphen. The rest of you investigate the butler’s and the maids’ rooms." After giving this simple instruction, Drake headed straight to the kitchen, no longer bothering with the others.

[Drake noticed something about Ethan, haha—he is Captain Drake after all.]

[I remember he sensed Ethan looking at him from the window early on, maybe that’s why he’s paying extra attention to the chef now.]

[Why does he have to bring Saphen, though? Couldn’t the kid stay in the room? No offense, but Saphen will be a burden in a fight.]

[Exactly, I don’t get why there’s suddenly a kid here. Is he supposed to be stronger than the espers who died in the snowstorm or something?]

[Must’ve just been lucky.]

[Getting into this dungeon might not be lucky, lol.]

The kitchen door was shut tight. Drake raised his hand to knock.

The moment his hand touched the door, it was yanked open forcefully. Ethan’s large frame blocked the entrance, so huge that it completely obscured everything behind him.

His head drooped slightly, and his dark, gloomy eyes peered out from behind the thin paper curtain, staring intently at Drake—then shifting to Saphen.

Saphen immediately shrank back, hiding behind Drake.

Drake spoke in a cold voice, "We’re guests. Would it be possible for us to take a look at the kitchen—the place where those amazing dishes are made? The food was truly delicious."

Ethan let out a low growl when Drake mentioned wanting to visit the kitchen, but the moment Drake complimented the food, he nodded slowly—though he still showed no sign of moving aside.

He opened his mouth. His voice was hoarse and gravelly as if he hadn’t spoken in a long time: "You are not allowed in the kitchen."

Drake frowned, clearly displeased. "I just want to take a quick look. Besides, the butler never said the kitchen was off-limits."

"You are not allowed in the kitchen."

Ethan repeated himself, then slammed the door shut without hesitation—nearly hitting Drake in the nose.

Drake quickly stepped back, lowered his gaze to Saphen, and asked, "Do you think I should just kick that door down?"

Saphen looked at Drake with apparent hesitation, making Drake let out a chuckle.

Of course, he wasn’t stupid enough to kick the kitchen door down. Instead, he led Saphen away and headed toward several other rooms inside the mansion.

Everyone else had already scattered to carry out their tasks, but the atmosphere was much quieter than Drake had expected.

He furrowed his brow slightly. After breaking into a few doors in a row, he still hadn’t caught sight of Fiona or the others.

What was more concerning was that two of the doors had already been unlocked, yet when Drake opened them, there was no sign of his teammates.

They shouldn’t have finished their investigation and left this quickly.

The room Drake now stood in was neatly arranged, with two large mirrors and two separate vanities. It wasn’t hard to tell that this was the maid’s room.

It looked completely untouched—there wasn’t a single sign that it had been searched.

Drake frowned again and stepped forward, carefully inspecting every corner.

But there was nothing. The room was extremely ordinary. There are no clues, no hidden mechanisms or documents. That probably explained why Fiona and the others had left so quickly.

Drake thought to himself and prepared to head to the butler’s and chef’s rooms next.

But just then, he froze, frowning—because the door he had entered through had vanished.

Only four walls now surrounded them.

Saphen stood with his back to Drake, staring straight at the wall in front of him—the same fence that, just one second ago, had been a doorway.

"So, where the hell did the door go?"

Fiona scratched her head so hard it looked like she might go bald, but she still couldn’t figure out the reason why.

Everyone’s expression turned grim.

They hadn’t split up, choosing instead to stick together for safety. Just like Drake, the first room they entered was the maids’ room. Inside, the room was elegant and tidy, with nothing out of the ordinary.

But the moment they tried to leave, the door that had led outside disappeared—leaving behind only four identical walls.

Neither Fiona’s group nor Drake realized they were in the same room.

Silvanus, watching everything through the live broadcast feed, could see it all.

They were all in the maids’ room but in entirely different dimensions.

Wait. Silvanus narrowed his eyes slightly. He began to suspect that maybe they weren’t actually in different dimensions.

He manipulated his body, moving to where Luis was standing.

Luis furrowed his brow, glancing down at his calf. He couldn’t see anything—but just moments ago, he had felt something, like a small child brushing against his leg.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Saphen suddenly tripped over something significant and fell to the ground.

Drake immediately stepped forward, worry etched on his face as he helped the boy. "Are you alright? Why were you being so careless?"

He hadn’t expected that the Prophet had weakened so much he could trip over flat ground.

But just as Drake voiced his concern, Saphen murmured, "Th-there’s something... in the room..."

Drake frowned, not doubting him for a second. He raised his hand and began feeling around where Saphen had fallen.

"AAAAAAAAAAH!"

On the other side, Harry suddenly screamed as someone tugged on his pants. He jumped in shock, yelling instinctively,

"What the hell?! Hey, don’t scare each other like that!"

Fiona shouted, drawing her sword. Her eyes scanned the area warily.

Harry leaped to the side and said thoughtfully, "Okay, first of all, I swear I’m not lying—something just pulled on my pants!"

Bella couldn’t help but giggle. "A pervy little monster, maybe? Ha ha."

Harry’s rugged face flushed slightly. He muttered, "I’m not joking..."

Luis added from the side, "I also felt something earlier. It felt like a child."

Luis’s words carried more weight. Instantly, everyone assumed a defensive stance.

Back with Drake, he, too, was beginning to feel the strangeness of the room.

[+1 viewer thinks Saphen knows something]

[The way the boy moved earlier was unnatural—like he was intentionally trying to bump into Luis.]

Drake also looked at Saphen and asked, "Did you sense anything unusual here?"

Saphen looked around the room and only shook his head.

Drake instinctively didn’t think the invisible thing he had just touched was a monster. It felt more like... clothing.

Thinking about how Fiona’s group had suddenly disappeared, Drake summoned his blade and easily began carving letters into the floor.

[This scene is hilarious lol]

[Unlocking a new use for Captain Drake’s sword!]

[Calling Captain Drake a jack-of-all-trades wasn’t wrong—his ability’s just as versatile as he is, lol.]

"Fiona! Something’s under your feet!" Bella suddenly shouted.

Fiona immediately leaped to the side. Then, under everyone’s shocked gaze, letters began appearing on the floor:

’Fiona?’

Fiona immediately yelled, "That’s the Captain’s handwriting—I recognize it! Captain, are you here too?!"

Alice quickly stopped her. "Don’t waste your breath shouting. He definitely can’t hear us."

Luis adjusted his glasses, took out a small dagger, crouched down, and wrote next to the previous message:

’Captain Drake, this is Luis. Are you in the same room as us?’

"Let me!"

Fiona jumped in and used her sword to write on the ground as well:

’You’ll recognize my handwriting for sure!’

At this point, Drake was thoroughly convinced: he and the others were in the same room.

Something—some illusion or barrier—was blinding or separating them. They couldn’t see each other, but they could still make contact.

Drake looked around the room once more. Naturally, there was no way to confirm if what they were seeing was the same or even if what they were seeing was real at all.
