Chapter 150: [The Corpse Collector] (26)
Bryan struggled to stand upright, but it seemed his spine no longer had the strength to support his entire body. His whole frame leaned slightly to one side, arms raised, eyes wide as he stared at Silvanus with a gaze full of madness.
Bryan hadn’t expected Silvanus to walk toward him. Off to the side, Silas suddenly shouted, "Silvanus, what are you doing?!"
Clearly, in their eyes, Silvanus was just an ordinary man—a bit braver than most, but nothing more.
Silvanus’s sudden action made Silas somewhat anxious. After all, he didn’t want Silvanus’s eyes to suffer any damage. No, no part of Silvanus’s body was allowed to be harmed at all. Silvanus had agreed to become his puppet once everything was over! Silvanus had an obligation to keep every part of his body intact!
"Stop!" Silas roared, then tried to lunge forward and pull Silvanus back. But of course, the two monsters fighting him weren’t going to give him the chance.
The mother monster shrieked a piercing sound before pouncing at Silas on all fours. Her stretched, tangled intestines suddenly extended as if nothing had ever torn them, shooting straight at Silas.
[Honestly, the way this monster attacks is stupid and disgusting—it’s grotesquely funny...]
[A new form of entertainment, ha ha ha...]
Silas was blocked by the two monsters at once and missed his opportunity. By then, Silvanus was already dangerously close to Bryan.
Bryan suddenly let out a raspy laugh: "You’re walking... straight into... death!"
His voice was stiff and slow as if even his tongue had frozen and could barely form words.
But his body moved with astonishing speed—like a bullet. His dead fish eyes were filled with madness and excitement. This time, he was sure he would rip Silvanus’s guts out!
Almost in an instant, Silvanus raised his hand and grabbed Bryan’s arm with lightning speed.
Bryan’s brows furrowed, the excitement on his face faltering for a split second. He looked at Silvanus in shock, then suddenly roared, "Die!"
As the words left his mouth, fresh blood suddenly gushed from his back, mixed with thick, black slime.
It flowed down his spine and spread across the floor. At the same time, his shirt tore apart as fleshy tentacles burst from his back—long, grotesque tendrils lined with razor-sharp white spikes—his spine split in two, allowing the tentacles to surge out. The tear widened and lengthened until his entire back became fertile ground for the revolting appendages.
It may sound slow, but everything happened in a flash.
The tentacles shot straight toward Silvanus, their pointed tips gleaming like metal blades—easily capable of piercing anything.
They surrounded Silvanus completely!
Across the room, Silas’s eyes flew open. He threw a powerful punch, sending the father monster flying into the wall. The wall caved in on impact, cracks spreading like a spiderweb.
The father monster’s body lay motionless, thick black slime oozing from the seven orifices on his body. His enormous belly kept twitching as though something inside was constantly writhing, trying to break free.
At the same time, Silas lunged toward Silvanus. But just then, the mother monster suddenly hurled herself at Silas, wrapping her limbs tightly around him before the two of them crashed to the ground, wrestling furiously.
Silvanus instantly vanished from Silas’s line of sight.
Silas could never have imagined that the scene beyond wasn’t at all like what he feared.
Just as Bryan’s sharp tentacles were about to punch through Silvanus’s body, they suddenly halted in mid-air.
Bryan’s eyes widened in disbelief. He furrowed his brow tightly, his face contorted with strain—but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t get the tentacles to move even an inch further.
Silvanus, meanwhile, remained perfectly calm as he faced Bryan. His eyes narrowed slightly, a look of satisfaction on his face. As he had expected, this monster was pathetically weak—ideally suited for this boring dungeon. Even if he couldn’t fully access Nerio’s powers, he already had more than enough to deal with this creature.
"No... way..."
[What is this, what is this, what is this!!!!!]
[I always knew Silvanus wasn’t ordinary, but this is unbelievable—who can understand my feelings?!]
[I understand. I’d already resigned myself to Silvanus and Silas dying down here in this underground basement with Julie—I was waiting to screenshot the moment Silvanus got his guts ripped out. How did it end up like this?!]
[Come to think of it. Did Silas even turn out like that? He was supposed to be just a basic corpse-retrieval guy whose only role was to provide clues!]
[And Ryan and Lucian—the two most hyped up—are apparently dead in some random corner... honestly, you never know what’ll happen next...]
[Sound off if you believe Ryan and Lucian aren’t actually dead.]
[Keep that delusion to yourself, ha ha ha.]
"Who... are... you?!"
Bryan forced the words out again—this time, not just because his tongue had frozen but because he was grinding his teeth in shock and rage. He couldn’t accept being so easily stopped by Silvanus, someone who was supposed to be just a regular human.
Silvanus tilted his head slightly and smiled. "Want to know? Die first. Wait for me in heaven—if you make it."
Silvanus felt confident that if he were to die, he’d definitely ascend to heaven.
As he finished speaking, Silvanus casually lifted his hand. Blades of ice suddenly materialized—razor-sharp and swift—slicing Bryan’s tentacles into pieces. The severed limbs fell to the ground. Even the smallest fragment squirmed as if it had a life of its own. But before they could do anything, each one was frozen solid at the point of the cut, sealed in place by the spreading ice.
"Aaaaaa!"
Bryan roared in pain, his face flushed red as he stared at Silvanus. But he was completely powerless. In that very moment, he realized how utterly helpless he was—before Silvanus, he was nothing more than a fish on the chopping block, left for slaughter.
But how could this be? He was supposed to be the ruler of this place. He had come here for revenge, to wipe everything out, to erase all life. Silvanus and Silas were supposed to be the ones trapped in his net, not the other way around.
Things were not supposed to go like this!
"You’re not Silvanus!"
Bryan suddenly roared, his bloodshot eyes blazing as if he could tear Silvanus apart on the spot.
At the same time, the cold, mechanical warning of the system echoed in the air:
[Identity compromised. Warning: Identity compromised!]
The shrill alert made Silvanus frown. And then, right in front of him, Bryan’s body seemed to swell with a surge of unnatural power. He grew massive—his skin and flesh had completely rotted away, leaving behind only dark brown blotches and grotesque lesions.
His belly swelled to monstrous proportions, causing his arms and legs to wither in contrast. His head had vanished entirely, leaving only a thick neck from which countless tendrils writhed, emerging endlessly from his back.
"Boom!"
With just one step, Bryan made the entire underground basement tremble violently.
The tendrils at the top of his neck writhed endlessly, producing wet, squelching sounds as black mucus dripped and oozed over his bloated, deformed body.
Then, as if receiving a command, the countless tendrils surged forward in unison—lunging straight at Silvanus!
This time, there were far more than before!
Silvanus briefly glanced at Silas’s battle with the mother monster—it was nearing its end, and the victor would undoubtedly be Silas. Silvanus no longer had time to toy with this creature.
He closed his eyes tightly, raising his hand, focusing all his remaining power.
This dungeon marked the first time he had ever tapped into his characters’ abilities without using a defeat card. The power was suppressed and unfamiliar—but real.
Still, he was sure he could do it. He had to.
With that conviction, a glacial blue light flared from the center of Silvanus’s palm. The tentacles approaching him instantly froze into solid ice.
The frost spread at a staggering speed!
"No... No way! Who the hell are you?! Aghhhhhhh!!"
Bryan howled wildly, his voice now distorted—thick and heavy, barely human. He didn’t have much time to writhe in agony, though. The frost spread too fast, freezing his entire body—right down to the cellular level.
In an instant, Bryan’s frozen body shattered into a cloud of ice dust. The scene was so familiar that even the comment section fell momentarily silent.

[Hmmmm, I knew it. We had every reason to suspect Silvanus is Nerio!]
[No, he is Nerio!]
[But that makes no sense—why would Nerio be here? He’s a god! Unless... he’s here for fun? I mean, sure, Nerio’s playful, but he can’t be that free, right...?]
None of the viewers even considered the opposite possibility.
But Silvanus no longer had the capacity to worry about them.
Right after the attack ended, he suddenly felt as if his entire body had been filled with molten lead—heavy beyond belief.
He struggled to keep his eyes open, but it was no use. His ears rang, but he could still faintly hear a thunderous explosion that rocked the entire underground chamber!
