Chapter 97: Shawn’s attacked 2

"I’m giving you one last chance. Take it back!" he Shawn let out a ferocious growl accomping his command.

The sound sent the whole forest into silence and the group that was initially laughing stopped as chills ran down their spines.

The falcon leader looked at Shawn. How’s this cripple this intimidating? He swallowed a lump in his throat and looked at the others around him. His fear suddenly deminished. So what if he was intimidating? They had numbers and strength! Shawn didn’t have a chance!

An arrogant smirk returned to his face but soon, his life flashed before his eyes unable to dodge on time.

Blood splattered all over Shawn’s face as soon as he retracted his class from the falcon beastman. Claw marks extended from the other party’s left to the right, leaving lumps of flesh falling.

The falcon warriors didn’t expect Shawn to attack so brutal. They were shocked at first and sized Shawn up and down.

"I’ve collected what he owes me. If any of you wish to follow after him, please line up." Shawn’s voice rumbled through the forest like a thunder.

The falcon warriors cast a look at their leader’s body that was convusling on the ground then back to Shawn. They had been asked to come check out how powerful they were but it wasn’t at the expense of their lives!

They initially wanted to kill him becaus their leader said so and also the fear of this matter spreading to the city of Beasts but with him dead and Shawn letting them off, this slightly got out of hand.

Don’t get the pattern wrong. It’s you that should be scared. We will let.you off if you say nothing of what happened here!" one warrior boldly stated.

Before long, loud cries of battle rang out as Shawn mercilessly slashed at his enemies. He calmly killed all of them, not leaving a single soul standing.

He took of the piece of cloth that covered his eyes and opened them to reveal his duo coloured eyes that were as calm as the sea. like he hadn’t had a killing episode a few moments ago.

He didn’t stagger like he did when he was with Sydney and stood steadily on his own. He observed the corpses on the ground in disdain and walked over them.

With light steps, he walked away from the place keeping the little piece of cloth he used to cover his eyes tied on his skin skirt. He followed the path he had come from lightly but with a cold countance and after walking for a while, he found the eagle beastman who had been watching over him.

The young warrior was covered in blood and he seemed to have lost alot too. His skin was pale and his body had started getting cold. Shawn checked his pulse according to Scott’s lessons. He picked the warrior up and walked to find their shelter for the night.

Ash returned home with three pairs of newly handmade shoes for Sydney but the house was quiet as if there was no one. The silence was too defeaning, as if he had entered a home that wasn’t his own.

Is it because Scott and Shawn aren’t around? Did she sleep early today?

Ash pondered and decided to go to the kitchen and busy himself with something. He took a step and the fire torches in the house died down all at the same time. Ash froze as he adjusted his sight in the dark. Someone was in his house! He felt it!

He walked over to where he felt the presence and kr was the store room.

The intruder was rather brave and nonchalant.

Ash saw the white hairs and thought he was seeing things. There’s no way those cubs were already developed this form.

"Eldest?" Ash called out but the other person didn’t bother moving. He kept rummaging through the store.

What are you doing at this time of the night? Are you hungry? I’m too. Let me cook something for us." Ash didn’t take the odd behaviour to heart and reached for the piece of meat that was hanging off by the wall. He took it to the kitchen island and begun to chop it seriously.

"What are you doing?" the other party who had been silent all this time finally spoke.

"I’m cooking!" Ash replied and didn’t even look up.

"Have you really forgotten? Aren’t you going to wake up and see that this isn’t something you should be lax about?!" the other party’s voice rose higher showing how agitated he was.

Ash sighed and stopped chopping before he looked at the white haired guy.

"Dad! Do something or this cycle is going to keep going!" the white haired male with green eyes like Sydney’s and an uncanny resemblance to Ash stood before him with a pained look. "I don’t know how strong you are to keep watching this go around and around but we can’t!" Tears begun to fall from his eyes.

Ash who had turned around held his breathe looking at the male before him. He was shocked and spooked that he didn’t move a muscle.

"Dad are you even listening?" The young male asked angrily.

The door to the kitchen opened and another two males walked in. Ash looked over and stumbled on his feet but held himself before he fell to the ground.

"Stop losing your temper with father! We don’t have forever!" The black haired male scolded his younger brother. He looked at the astound Ash and sighed. "It’s useless talking to him now! Let’s go. We will come back another time." he said and reached for the white haired male’s hand before they vanished from Ash’s sight.

Ash let out the breathe he had been holding as tremors rocked his body before he slumped to the ground.

The next morning.

The forest was filled with loud chrips of birds, the breeze was cold and fresh and a later of fog coated the forest bed.

Shawn opened his double colored eyes and rose from his where he spent the night. He looked around the familiar cave and sighed. He hated those memories the most but this was the safest place to spend the night with an injured eagle.

He turned to look at where the eagle lat and saw that he was already awake and had shifted back to his human form. He was leaning against the wall in silence as he endured the pain from having his wing ripped. Even in his human form, his hand was barely hanging on as his arm muscles had been torn in the process.

"We will return to the city of beasts." Shawn informed him.

Mm." the eagle beastman replied. He wanted to proceed but the pain was intolerable.

"Bare with it for a while. We might not be able to save your wing but at least you can keep your life. I won’t forget this favour." Shawn said seeing the poor guy’s countance.

He was a promising warrior but he was now a cripple! One could only imagine what was going through the warriors mind.

They didn’t wait around for long and the two returned to the city of beasts. The eagle warrior rode on Shawn’s back and by late evening, they were at the city walls.

...

Sydney had spent her day with the younger cubs loving and nursing them while her mates got busy with introducing the older ones to their routines.

She worried for the cubs but was proved wrong. They were little monsters. They had alot of energy which they spent running around amok after having round bellies from the good food and milk, luckily, they weren’t mischevious and behaved really well akd listened when talked to.

By the time they dropped tired, they were covered in dust and grass. Sydney smiled happily as she swung to and fro on her swing at the school premises.

The cub in her hands was full of dust and just mere ruffling of his fur could produce a bucket of dust. She didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

As she basked in the evening sun, she saw a group of the 5-10 year olds running her way happily. Ken was right behind them and each had a game carried between their teeth. It was a sight to see.

Ken on the other hand seemed to have aged alot as fine lines marked his face. He was extremely grumpy.

She stood up and placed the heavy cub on the swing before she ran to Ken. However, she didn’t get the chance to soothe the idiot’s anger as the cubs surrounded her and. seemed to be givng her what they had hunted.

There was alot! Ranging from squirrels, to bunnies and alot of little animals. There was even a warthog! The little guys was the ones who had done best

"What are you lot doing?! Get in lines with your hunt!" Ken yelled almost rupturing his vocal cords. His throat was dry!

Sydney saw this and smiled sadly. She walked over to his side and untied the water bottle on her waist then gave it to Ken to drink.

"You must be tired!" Sydney pitied him alot.

"As I should!" Ken snatched the bottle from her hands and arrogantly commented as he gulped down mouthful upon mouthful till the bottle was empty. He handed it back to her and went back to the group barking at them to get in their respective lines.

Sydney’s lower lips twitched but she held it in. This is Ken..no need to be angry!! Ken is Ken!!’ she chanted to herself till she calmed down.

The cubs lined up each in their respective lines with game hanging from between their teeth.

Correct postures!!?" Ken barked and the little ones did as told.

Good!" Ken was satisfied with their obedience. You many now eat your games. Once you are done, go to the back of the school and bathe. You stink! You’ll have an extra meal for being cooperative and obedient!" he said and his words were answered with cheers.

Ken finished instructing them and only returned to her side after allowing them to eat their own hunt. He frowned seeing the big group of cubs by her side.

Shoo!" he barked and the younger cubs scurried off. They also had a teacher who handled them but they liked Sydney more. Seeing a very strong beastman who didn’t like them made them so aggrieved that they ran away.

Sydney was amused!
