Chapter 96: Shawn’s attacked.

The eagle scout had been lax after ensuring that the path ahead was free of danger.

However, not long after he had relaxed when his eyes shot down to check on Shawn. He was surprised to see that he was suddenly attacked. He let out a screech and flew down to go help Shawn from the attack. Caden had asked him to keep a close watch and ensure that nothing happened to Shawn and despite him being a fellow beastman, this was an order from his prince.

He shot downwards like an arrow but was intercepted midway by three fifth rank falcons.

They were beastmen he had worked with before in guarding the city of beasts but they were now attacking him?! He could piece the puzzle together. The trio didn’t let him get near Shawn and attacked him viciously.

Shawn knew this group’s intentions weren’t good.

He shifted his senses to where he was initially standing, his mate’s hard made bag was on the ground. He needed to get it!

The beastman that had pounced forward stomped his dirty feet at the skin bag with disdain.

Shawn felt it. The cloth that covered his eyes didn’t really blind his sight and he could see through the silk piece. His heart churned at the sight but he knew this was all being done to piss him off. Well, he was really pissed but fighting under unstable emotions would be placing himself in danger. He kept calm.

The initially silent forest was then covered with a group of footsteps. It seemed like he others were finally exposing themselves without a care and this meant only one thing.

Beasts had one rule in their world. Survival for the fittest!

The other party also didn’t bother talking and immediately charged forward!

Shawn dodged and sprinted off into the forest. The attackers hadn’t expected him to run off and were stunned before they regained their bearings and begun to chase after him. They were however at a disadvantage since Shawn was a four legged beastman. They’d only be able to gain advantage over him if they shifted into their beast forms but the direction Shawn had taken would definitely hinder them!

"Shit!!" One of the falcon assaulters cursed and tired to catch up this two feet but the distance kept growing further and further away.

The eagle warrior who was battling in the sky couldn’t hold on long against three who later turned four.

"You shameless birds have no honour!!" he cursed. This wasn’t fair but he dared not say that. So what if it wasn’t fair? If he couldn’t fight to protect himself then that’d be his own problem!

"Hahah! Honour my ass! Let’s see what honour will give you once you die!" The falcon warrior cursed and attacked throwing the eagle warrior off balance.

He tried to stabilise himself but soon felt his right wing being torn off. He let out a pained screech.

His agonizing cry reached Shawn’s ears halting him in his run. He hadn’t expected the warrior to still be around and hoped he had gone back to call for help but it seemed he had chosen to stay and now he was implicated.

Shawn didn’t give regard to himself and immediately ran back to find the eagle warrior..He was solely relying on his usual senses as he feared he’d become a silly beastman of he let his eyes do their job.

However, he hadn’t run long before he ran into his assaulters. They immediately cornered him with strong killing intent steamed from the irritation of being unable to catch up to him.

"Ha! Look at this!" one of the warriors sneered but Shawn said nothing.

"It’s me you want! Let that young warrior go!" Shawn spoke after a while.

"Dream on! You both are dying here! I’d love to see how your female goes mad from loosing her mate!" one of the warriors humped in anger. He was the one who had battles with Caden but had been ruthlessly rejected by Sydney. He had honestly fallen for her and really liked her but since she rejected him, he had developed a desire to see her in distress and when his King asked him if he was up for this task, he couldn’t be more willing to take it on.

"It’s you!" Shawn of course recognised this male’s voice. He turned to where he stood and seemed to look at him. "You know what you are doing could get you guys kicked out of the city of beasts!" Shawn warned them with a narrowed gaze.

Who will even know that it was our doing?" the male asked smugly. He stepped forward and spoke arrogantly. "Incompetent males like you die every day. What? You think you are special?! I doubt that! Even if you die, that female won’t even think about you and will be willing to spread her legs and invite in a new stronger and more capable male!"the falcon scoffed with a twisted expression. His colleagues scoffed but later begun laughing

Shawn who had thought it was a mere male’s grudge realised this matter to be something bigger. He was silent as he listened to the latters words and hearing how Sydney would taken in other males if he died made him stiffen a little. Of course if he died, he’d wish for her to take in males that’d be capable of looking after her! If he was no more one day, he’d love her from the other side of the beast world.

But what?! Who gave this beast the nerve to talk disrespectfully about Sydney before him? A surge of fury washed over Shawn’s body. He remained composed but if one was Keener, they’d be able to sense his killing intent.

"Take it back!" Shawn ordered through gritted teeth.

The group that was laughing gloatingly came to a sudden silence at command. All of them looked at Shawn before bursting out into another fit of laughter. This was more genuine than the first one.

"I don’t want to!" the falcon leader continied to laugh . He was even holding onto his stomach from all the laughing.
