Chapter 71: Chapter 69

Titan cried without letting out a sound for a while till his eyes had no more tears to shed. He relaxed his tail that was wrapped around Sydney’s waist and gently lowered her to the ground.

Caught off guard by his actions, Sydney immediately turned to him but he shifted back not letting her touch him.

"Titan....."

"Go now...."his voice was cold but the pain in it couldn’t be hidden. "Leave while you still can or don’t blame me for being unreasonable!" he looked at Scott with hatred in his golden eyes then took a sharp turn and exited the house. Once he was out, he shifted into his beast form and slithered away destroying everything in his path.

Sydney trembled and looked at the others. Guys...." she attempted to walk over to them but they also unconsciously stepped back.

They loved her dearly and that was without questioning and they hoped for her to be happy. If her joy was in returning to her family, as her males, it was only right for them to do as she pleased despite the pain they’ll have to go through.

Caden smiled bitterly at Sydney. He didn’t know what to say to her and so, he went to the second floor and went inside his room. He wished to convince her to stay but no words seemed to form in his mind.

Shawn smiled. "I’m happy that you get to go home. I’ll miss you alot!" he said and turned to leave. He didn’t go to the second floor and ran out of the house.

"What’s this?! Huh?!!! Why are you all jumping to conclusions before you hear what I have to say?!" Sydney was angry.

"Of course you’ll chose to go home." Ken scoffed. Why was she acting this way when her final decision was written all over her face. "What’s so great about us that you’d chose us over your family?! Titan’s right....leave while you still can. We won’t stop you." They had no issues eliminating her brother who was a stumbling block in their life...but they did not wish to go to such extremes.

Sydney was petrified seeing Ken’s harsh attitude. She turned to Ash who smiled at her. "We will respect your decision." he said so with a heavy heart and left the place. Sydney looked at the empty place that initially held the five most important people for her in the beast world. Now, none of them was there...it was like they had abandoned her but she knew they were in the worst pain she could ever imagine.

"I didn’t know they were so attached to you to such an extent." Scott said with a sigh and sat down. "They even didn’t let me finish talking to you!" he said with a sigh and fell back in his seat.

Sydney couldn’t believe the nonchalant attitude of her brother and wanted to beat him up.

"Whats with the glare, young woman?" he questioned with a raised brow. "Mhm?!"

Sydney fumed.

"You have gotten really stupid the few weeks you spent here I see!" he mocked and that was the cue. Sydney jumped towards him and started punching him with all her might in a fit of rage. Her babies were all angry and disappointed in her and here he was being all smug and annoying.

"Stupid indeed!" he continued to taunt as he bore with her punches. She had visibly grown alot weaker!

"Who are you calling stupid, you narcissistic idiot!!!?" she bellowed out angrily clasping his hair in her fists and pulling it hard that she begun to drawn blood but Scott was nonchalant and was very tolerant to pain.

"You, of course! You are so stupid to think I’d come here on my own if I had a way to take you home." he said. If he was so capable, he would have first returned them come back with a whole group of mercenaries to look for his sister but his arrival was at an island where mermaids spent leisure time. His arrival startled the beautiful women who in turn startled him causing chaos. He had wanted to go back through the cave but he was met with a dead end. Like no form of passage ever existed. He had also not had it easy but he was smarter and managed to get the merking to acknowledge him and also offer help to look for his sister. The little achievements he helped them with earned him respect from hundreds of merman who volunteered to escort him ashore after confirming with the other fish tribes that no red haired female had made her way on their island.

His message registered later for Sydney. She halted her assault and looked at her brother. "what do you mean?!"

Titan left the beast city with a heavy and bitter heart. He really wanted to slither back their and just snatch her away, go to the meds of the beast world where no one would ever be able to find him but he loved her so much that causing her pain would equate to him hurting himself. So in the end, it was better that he was the only one hurting.

He traveled throughout the night and arrived at his cave at midnight. The familiar place etched a lonely feeling in his heart but that was all in the past. He also didn’t even remember why this place gave him pains but he’d still come back to it. Like no place in the world could out beat this cave. Shrouded in darkness, he slithered inside the cave to which after a while, he entered the part wjere the cave walls were covered with thousands of his scales planted against the wall like paintings.

A tradition etched in his memory, whenever he was faced with pain, he’d come here and de-scale himself which led the cave to look like it was covered in gold. This phenomena also happened when it was close to the time he’d have to shed his skin off but that was still a month away. He half shifted and looked at his snake body with spite. Ruthlessly, he grabbed at a scale randomly and tore it off with no regard to pain causing him to bleed in the process. He didn’t stop there and tormented himself till the sun rose. By the time he was done, he was in a bath of his own blood with a pale countance but the reality of Sydney leaving didn’t even for a second leave his mind.

When the morning came, Ken and Shawn woke up early and prepared their female food. They knew it’d be a long way to her home amd hence stocked up salted meat and bags of fruits. They also wrapped up the utensils she’ll need during her journey to cook and packed it all in the huge sitting room.

Ash also returned after finalising talks with the other leaders who agreed to let Sydney return home and Caden assembled a group of eagle beastmen who’d be incharge of carrying the luggage.

Sydney who had slept late woke up to the noisy movements and with a frown, she descended the staircase with a nest of messy bed hair. Alot of unfamiliar people were going in and out of the house carrying things.amd they kept stealing glances at her.

Scott who had also woken up to the noise could deduce what was going on. He spluttered with laughter that almost sent him tumbling down the stairs. The fish people were right. Land beastmen were exceedingly adorable!! "Hahahaha..... Heavens....I can’t remember the last time I was this intrigued!" he laughed and held his precious stomach as he went to the kitchen. They hadn’t served him food last night as a guest and he had slept on an empty stomach! Such bad men!

Sydney who had been confused was so angry at her laughing brother. She caught Shawn who was carrying a stone tray over to deliver her breakfast and stopped him. "Could you tell me what’s going on?" she asked.

"We are preparing for your journey back home." he said as a matter of fact.

Scott laughed so hard that Sydney’s mouth hung open. "Heh!! When did I say I’m going home?" she asked and the tray fell out of Shawn’s hands.

Ken who was in the kitchen felt his ears twitch in disbelief as he bolted out of the kitchen. Ash was at the entrance and stopped in his tracks before he zoomed to her side in shock.

Scott shook his head and went to the kitchen to get food but he also kept looking at the beastmen with fascination. Such a world actually existed! Hahah ....

Caden dragged the cow over and he tied it closely to the swing they were yet to uproot and take along. Too bad they couldn’t bring the castle too. He looked around and saw that everything was in place. All that was left was to set off.
