Chapter 146: Aren’t you from the same clan?!!! STOP THEM!!!!

"We must stay vigilant this time round. These beasts are much more intelligent!" Ash cautioned as they gathered their things to set off. Those kinds were the toughest to deal with! He had lived in the city of beasts for as long as he could remember but he wasn’t the kind to wander off into unventured to zones. He’d usually run to his cave to see if Sydney would someday suddenly pop out.

"We can just put the beast repellant herbs on ourselves and we are good to go! That’ll save us the headache!" Ken suggested and they looked at him like he had a third head. "What!?" That look was offensive!

Sydney laughed at Ken’s silliness. He was also a beast but he seemed to forget it.

"Oh right! We are also beasts!" Ken gasped dramatically slapping his forehead. His pointy ears fell dejectedly at the sudden realisation.

"It took you forever to notice that!" Ray had total disdain written all over his face as he berated Ken. Ken was the rotten one in her basket of her eggs this time round!

"That’s not the point here!" Ken cried out as his mind processed something. Wait a minute!!!! Alarm bells rang in his mind as his eyes widened with each second.

"What is!?" Shawn was much attentive towards Ken. Although he said and did silly things from time to time, Shawn knew Ken was smart in his own way!

Ken looked at Sydney, his eyes twitching.

"What?!!" Sydney was baffled. She was innocent here!!!!

"You.... didn’t make those to keep us away!" Ken squinted his wolf eyes at her accusingly his tail going wild in a huff. He had an urge to bite her!!! He had been singing praises of how smart she was at coming up with something like this not knowing the blade had been sharpened for them!!!

Hearing his words, five pairs of offended eyes fell onto Sydney making her sink her neck in trying her best not to squirm , much less flee for her life. Her eyes looked at the sky up like it was something extremely interesting. She had thought of using the repellant on them at some point! "Sorry!" She was sheepish as she ran off to avoid holes being drilled into her skin.

"Tsk tsk!!! All females are really cruel!" Ray lamented. Having smart females was on the bad side of it scary and vexing! One had to be in edge all the time!

"I heard that!" Sydney yelled at Ray making him hiss. He still loved her though!

"Are we still looking for Titan?" Caden asked. For the past three days, no word about Titan was spoken by Sydney, she was not as anxious as before either and spent more time with them talking about this and that and they could feel her shift in emotions.

"He should be alright now! The dreadful feeling disappeared a long time back, I feel he is doing fine." She assured them. The mate bond was really useful, she would know how they were doing just by focusing on their mark on her body. She didn’t know how Titan survived that difficult time but was happy he did!

"It’s good that he is out of danger." Ash sighed in relief and shifted into his beast form, the majestic patterns on his body enhancing his black coat. "Ride on me Sydney...let Caden scout the front. This area is a hunting ground for beasts, it won’t do is any good to confront them." As Titan wasn’t here, he as the second strongest was in charge of enusuring every one of them was safe.

Ray also understood this fact.

"Alright." Sydney had no objection and she ran to sit on his back. Ken and Shawn took their beast forms and made a formation around Sydney. Ray also came and walked side by side with Sydney while Caden shifted and soared into the skies.

Ray had fast reflexes and would be able to act incase of anything that’s why he was at the forefront with Ash while Ken and Shawn were a little bit behind, two steps from them.

Sydney turned her attention to Ray only to see his nonchalance. she could only purse her lips to stop herself from speajingg out loud what was on her mind. She had before suggested that Ray rode on Ken’s wolf but it didn’t end well and only resulted into a dog-cat fight and so Ray had to walk all the way, when they ran, he also did his best to catch up but his speed lacked at bit. Her heart aches seeing him out this much effort for her even when they weren’t mated.

He had told her he was here for her but had never brought up the topic of being incorporated into the family officially and only followed along wherever she was.

Ray felt her gaze and turned to look at her, his ocean blue eyes gentle as she smiled at her. He could see the emotions dancing in her eyes, pity, pain, worry... But all that didn’t deter him a single bit. All he longed was for her to return and he was just content with that.

They walked at a moderated pace as they waited for Caden to return with news on which areas to avoid.

Not long later, Caden returned with an all clear signal, luckily the forest canopy wasn’t thick and sun rays shot beams through the gaps, coupling with the dry season, alot of leaves had fallen which made it difficult for the enemy to approach unnoticed.

They trudged forward with nothing much being said.

However, like Ash had noted earlier on, this was indeed others hunting ground as carcasses of dead animal and those that were half eaten were all over the place.

"Ptui! So wasteful!!" Ken spat.

"It means what they have is abundant!" Sydney replied lightly with a chuckle. The things that angered Ken were extremely mundane!

"I’m a good wolf though! I never waste food!" Ken didn’t forget to claim some credit!

Shawn rolled his eyes ar Ken with a look that said, I know your unspoken past! He was a prince after all!!!

Ken saw that look and glared hard! Dare say it!

Shawn huffed and ignored him. He’d say it if he wanted to!

They continued to walk having small talk over topics Ken brought up.

Ken had also remained in his beast form and flew at a leisurely pace just above them, he also wanted to come down and chat but his mate’s safety was priority and so, he kept a keen look out.

However to their misfortune, this territory wasn’t theirs and so they didn’t know much about the ins and out of it.

Without realising it, they had already been circled and their attackers knew very well how to conceal their presence.

Sydney who was riding on Ash felt a fleeting chill on her scalp making her suddenly sit vigilantly. Not that they had relaxed their attentiveness over their surroundings.

What’s wrong?" Ray was the first to notice then followed by Ash she was seated on.

I feel watched!" She whispered her eyes darting around.

The others stopped immediately and so Caden, he immediately flee down since the skies were clear! His strength would be needed down.

What’s going on!?" He asked his eyes looking far into the dark areas of the forest.

Sydney feels unsettled! I think it’s something!" Ray replied and walked towards a piece of carcass not far from them before sniffing it. It had yet to rot and still carried some scents. His heart sunk! "Shit!" He cursed and jumped ontp his feet!

This is their territory, naturally, it’s filled with their scents so we didn’t notic this earlier on! They used this as a cover of their traces! If I’m not wrong, we are already surrounded!" He let his thoughts out and when the others connected the dots, they hissed.

"Can’t they be a little bit stupid!!!?" Ken was alarmed! When around marking their hunting grounds to the point of it having their scent!! He felt bad! His IQ was being compared!!!!?

It’s not time to whine, Ken!" Ash rebuked!

They needed minds to figure out their way out!

Wait! We’ve been walking for so long but didn’t feel anything! But Sydney did! Does that mean she’s their target!?" Shawn spokeaking the forest drop into dead silence.

Caden didn’t wait to he told as a familiar dreadful feeling engulfed him. He shifted into his beast and immediately snatched Sydney from Ash’s back.

Just in time for a panther to appear out of thin air his teeth grazing at Sydney’s calf as she was taken away only to miss!

Ahhhhh!!!!!" Ken screamed.

Ash jumped from his initial spot by sheer luck avoiding an attack on him.

Ray felt the veins on the top of his head pop as he sent a punch blindly into space only to hit something making it whimper as it crashed onto the tree trunk.

Their enemy had an invincible trait!!! Just like Titan!!! No wonder they didn’t see them noatter how hard they stretched their eyes!!! Those sneaky bastards!!!!
