Then let’s go! The male at the front urged and the trio proceeded forward. They had nothing on then unlike the other migrants but that didn’t mean that they could be truffles with despite walking in a small group.

After what happened at the city lord’s house, many held speculations but seeing the city lord come out of the house unharmed, many who had worries were finally at peace inside.

The city stood on his power and if in any way it was distorted, then their city would become vulnerable as different clans would obviously only care for their kin and not others.

Sydney sat in Titan’s room and looked at his unconscious state. After Ray knocked him out, his murderous aura died along and the home was back in peace.

The hearts of her mates were not settled and they were highly guarded against Titan.

You can’t stay here looking at him all day. Come down and eat." Ray requested helplessly. His heart hurt watching her worry. He was the cause of this but it was all for her safety! If the others learnt that he was around when danger was impending and he did nothing, then he’d be as good as dead!

And besides, he as a person couldn’t watch her fall into a latch and do nothing about it. He was not her mate but to him, she was his mate!

I want to stay here with him." Sydney shifted her gaze from Titan to Ray. Could I trouble you to please bring the food over?" Her gaze was pleading and Ray sighed.

Alright. I’ll be back in a jiffy! In case you notice any movements from him, get as far away as possible or shout. I’ll get to you as soon as I can!" He said worriedly. Even a mere second away left his heart feeling apprehensive!

I’ll do so." Sydney assured him and he left reluctantly.

However, he was fast in his steps to ensure that he returned on time!

Seeing his silhouette disappear, Sydney shifted her attention back to Titan. He was still in his half beastform and his breathing was a little weak. His temperature kept rising and falling but she couldn’t find the reason. She could only accompany him.

What’s wrong?" She asked as she held his hand in her own. His body was usually pale but now, he was flushed and few veins could he seen on his body.

Her action of holding him made the mate mark on her neck move as well. He was unconscious but his mark was alive and alert but unfortunately, she couldn’t see it. The mini version of Titan left on her moved and snuggled comfortably. Since she was here, he believed he was safe and alright despite his dangerous state.

You know you really scared me earlier! I was afraid something bad really happened to you." She murmured to her self not sure he could hear her. Did you feel insecure with their presence? Is that why you cared that way?! I know you were trying to protect yourself but you hurt them too. I don’t know how they’ll behave with you once you wake up. I apologized in your behalf but I think it’d be better if you did so yourself..that way, they’ll feel how sincere you are..." She played with his hand for a while as she accompanied him.

She believed he could hear what she was saying.

Ray returned with a stone tray and helped set up the small table for her to eat. He couldn’t stay long in this space since it was Titan’s personally and only his mate had the right to be here. So after setting up the table, he hurried outnajd stood outside the room to be on standby.

Sydney sighed seeing Ray’s behaviour and left Titan’s side to eat her food. If she was going to persist on staying by his side, she had to have the energy to do so.

Ash went to deal with the day’s work with a worried heart.

Today, a new group had arrived and they had a number of females. Naturally, females had to be let into the city since they were the ones that supported the survival of all beastmen.

What clans arrived?" He asked one of the supervisor who was a gorilla beastman.

City lord, this group is a little troublesome. They are from the lesser clans and have no more than fifteen females." The supervisor was a little troubled.

It wasn’t that they underlooked those from the lesser clans but it had not even been a month but the city was already facing the effects of the numbers.

Let’s go see them!" Ash said indifferently and led the way to go check out on the lesser clans that had arrived.

Standing at the city wall, he looked below and hundreds of thousands of small abodes had been constructed, the ape beastmen were an impenetrable wall of defence and those that had tried to get into the city forcefully had been subdued ruthlessly.

This made the others calm down and cry over their bad luck for not being born in th city. They learnt that the city lord hadn’t kicked out its residents to accommodate them but had only continued to protect them and as for the newcomers, a few with distinguished families were allowed inside, those with females too.

This had led to many beastmen ambushing the small clans that were coming over to seek refuge of their females and use them to enter the city.

Obviously Ash knew about this but chose not to intrude on this matter, as long as the female was safe, then the other things were of their own to deal with. In that case however, the lesser clans and the herbivore clans were the ones that were most affected.

But of course, some herbivore clans could not be underestimated since they had large numbers and brute force that was unrivaled.

Today’s arrival included a small group of the rabbit clan, squirrel clan,...." The supervisor continued to report endlessly. The number of females today are only fifteen. As of late, the numbers have dwindled but the reports coming in say that there’s still a great deal of them out there."

There must be some clans that are confident of protecting their females. Of course we can do nothing about it. It’s is a good thing for us anyway. The numbers are a little overwhei. If we are to bring in more, then the city will plummet into deaths during the dry season."

"City lord is right." The ape agreed. "Also, my King asked me to inform you that the preparations have been successfully completed in fifteen clans. The other clans are trying to meet the deadline and it should be done soon." He informed.

Ash nodded and left the city wall. He descended to go and see the group of females.

It was night when Shawn, Ken and Caden returned. They all had assignments handed to them by Scott and they couldn’t afford to abandon them, that ls why they left in the morning and only managed to make it out in the evening. If it was like any other day, they’d be spending the night out.

When they walked into the house, the first thing they did was to run up to Titan’s room to check on Sydney. Their attitudes towards Titan were cold and it could be considered understandable since he intended to harm their mate.

By the time they were on the second floor, they found Ray seated outside the room leaning against the wall in silence.

What are you doing?’ Ken asked angrily! He had promised to look after Sydney but he was seated out side and not by her side! Another unreliable fool! He wanted to curse!

"Keep your voice down! I know what I’m doing." Ray frowned at the tone Ken talked to him with. If it were any case, the likes of him wouldn’t have the right to stand next to him, much less talk to him.

Ken found himself shitting up involuntarily but he wasn’t one to consend defeat. He was about to flare up again but Caden shook his head at him. This was a guy that could kill them in a single move. His power could be seen at how he subdued Titan in a single ruthless move.

Inside the bedroom, Titan’s eyes were wide open but there was a small figure in his arms. He dared not love about recklessly afraid he’d wake her up.

.he had a recollection of what he had done and he felt guilty! He had no idea why he was like that and after detecting his body once he regained consciousness, he could tell it wasn’t about him shedding his skin. It was something else but he had no idea what it was about.

He feared that if he stayed around her, he’d accidentally harm his mate and so, he had decided to leave for a while to figure out what was wrong with him and only return after he had finished his troubles.

He sensed that the others had returned and his forehead throbbed just thinking of the fact that he had to apologize to them!

We know you are awake. Please come out as we need to talk!" Ray spoke once everyone returned. Even Ash was back.

Titan carefully moved the small figure cringing onto him and lay her on the smooth fur in his bed. She turned a little but fell back into sleep dragging the fur piece onto herself. This action of hers was cute and it it made him laugh but his eyes were sad.

He slithered out of the room and saw that all the others were outside his room. All black faces made him feel like his hurt ached. He stretched at the skin on his abdomen and took out a bag of crystals and threw one at each of them. This was the best he could do to apologize since he was sure his words wouldn’t be sincere at all. "I’ll be leaving for a while. Look after her well and tell her she should be fat by the time I return." He spat out those few words and walked away without looking back.

Don’t you think you deserve to say a proper goodbye to her?" Ash asked.

If you have the ability to subdue me everytime, I’m sure I can consider that." Titan didn’t even look back but he knew what they thought even without looking back.

Be sure to not get hurt while out there. You have to put Sydney into consideration." Ray didn’t say much and only reminded him of the most important thing. He learnt that she hadn’t yet learnt how to control the bond well. She’d get hurt in the process.

Inside the bedroom, a golden scaly ring sat in Sydney’s ring finger and glimmered softly in the night
