Chapter 128: Herbivore friends

Caden wanted to get angry at the guy that was staring at his mate but he only sighed helplessly.

Excuse me?" Sydney called out once again after selecting the stones that caught her attention.

Oh..yes! I...well, the stones...." The guy stammered and he even couldn’t maintain eye contact.

What do you want in exchange for these stones?" She asked again.

I don’t know?" The poor guy had brined his brain cells imprinting her image in his mind.

Hearing his answer, Sydney’s face became funny and her eyelid twitched. Caden secretly laughed at her and took the stones from the table. He retrieved an egg sized blue crystal drawing gasps from the crowd that were watching them.

My heavens! Isn’t that the mountain sky crystal?" One male stepped forward to take a closer look.

It’s indeed the one!

Didn’t know someone could have such precious things!

That stone is extremely rare!

I’m so envious!" Another cried out non existent tears.

This should be enough." Caden didn’t mind the ogling eyes. The mountain sky crystal was of no use to females that’s why despite having a load of them, he couldn’t give them to Sydney. However, she liked the stones she saw on the stall, he could get them for her!

After paying, he placed the stones in her backpack and took it from her to carry it before leading her away from the stall.

Is that stone that great?" She couldn’t help asking. She had seen how many males were envious just looking at that stone.

It’s a catalyst to those that want to rank up but it’s advantages outweigh other stones." He said.

So you traded a precious stone for the ones I wanted. Do they have any use?" She asked carefully her eyes shooting back to the stall that wasn’t far from them.

They are pretty and you like them!" Caden was easy going. He had alot! Enough to last him a few hundred years so loosing one on hisate was nothing

So they are useless!?" Sydney cried out as she took the bag from him. Don’t do something so silly! I thought they were treasures that’s why I wanted them! I didn’t...." Caden didn’t let her get the bag from him.

Hey...calm down okay! We came down here to play! Don’t worry about such small issues." He cooed her and dragged her forward.

Are you sure? You are rich?" She asked.

Rich!! What does that mean! He wanted to ask but didn’t dare. "Yeah! I’m very rich!" He let himself get slapped. He’d ask Scott when they met again.

Okay! Then I’ll go play." Sydney said and spread her hands to be given more mountain sky crystals.

Caden let one of his arm transform into a wing and a placed his other hand to rummage through his pocket. Sydney was so surprised. She had been with them but didn’t know about such a thing existing. she moved closer and tugged to peep inside and see what other treasures were hidden.

What is this?" She asked as she tagged at his feathers.

Pocket." He answered and looked at her animated expression.

"I know! How come you have something like this? All the birds I’ve seen don’t have pockets." She said in a knowing tone. It was part of his skin and covered in feathers, she’d have never known if something like today never happened.

"All beastmen have pockets. They use them to store away their treasures." He explained.

"That’s awesome!" She cried out and tiptoed. She’d get the chance to check the others pockets when she got home.

Caden lowered his wing and let her rummage through his pocket and once she had what she needed, she ran off to trade.

On a stall not far away, she saw some familiar faces. She dashed over to that side and Cadne kept up with her.

Many males crowded to watch her but when she walked over, they made way for her. They had never seen such a carefree female. She could even walk around without the horde of her mates following after her and showing off!

Also, he relationship with her mate looked to be good. Many sighed with envy!

"Hi guys!" Sydney came to the stall and stopped with a huge smile beaming at the group.

When they saw her, the young herbivore males were excited. "Sydney!" They cried out and ran over to surround her.

They exchanged greetings just in time for Caden to join. They greeted him and created some more space from Sydney. "When did you guys enter the city?" She asked as she looked at the things on their stalls.

Last week!" The zebra male replied. If we had known something like this was to happen, we would have taken your offer earlier on." He cried.

What? What happened?" Sydney asked her eyes scanning the group. Caden came and stood behind her his arm on her shoulder.

They were attacked by a group of strays and lost a great number of people." He explained.

Can we talk somewhere else?" She suggested feeling the news would not be good.

The group took down their stall and followed after Sydney to a nearby place that was secluded. "Tell me what happened?" She asked.

It was right after a male named Ray visited us. We noticed that some beasts that rarely migrated begun to move. At that time, it didn’t occur to us and we thought it wasn’t a big issue. The elders and some warriors went out to check this out but after some days, they returned wounded. Everyone was extremely worried and the remaining elders begun suggesting we take up your offer. Before we could begin to pack up and leave, a group of strays attacked and killed many of our people. We were forced to run and abamdialot of our things, we also had to protect our females. When escaping, we are lucky to run into a group of migrating lion clan. They killee off the strays ensuring the safe arrival of the remaining of us. When we reached the city wall, many orher beast clans were here and if not for Lord Ash recognizing us, we’d still be stuck outside with the other clans that haven’t gotten a chance to enter."

By the time the male was done narrating all happenings, the others were in tears. Sydney’s heart also ached for the death of the leaders. Her first experience with these herbivore tribes was extremely comical and they had become her great friends. "I’m so sorry about your loss." She didn’t know what else to say.

We are the ones at fault. At that time, we didn’t know you had our best interest at heart."

Right! We are sorry for turning down your offer at that time! If we knew, we’d have come flying to the city as soon as possible"

Mm, we will listen to your suggestions and put them into action next time." Anothe one chimed in.

They talked for a while before Sydney learnt why they had come to set up stalls. One was to get themselves accustomed to living with the carnivorous beastmen as per Titan’s suggestion and the other was to see if they could replenish their supplies
