Chapter 104: Her mate from the past.

Sydney followed the cubs all around after confirming with the warriors that the place was safe and had no lingering threats.

What she encountered twenty minutes however left her shocked.

She gasped and stepped back in horror at what was before her eyes. On the ground lay a heavily wounded male in his human form. He had no tail nor ears on him hence she couldn’t distinguish which beast he was.

The cubs that had followed after Sydney stayed behind Sydney as they looked at the wounded male since they were the ones that led her here after following the scent of blood.

Sydney looked around but realised they were far away from the warriors, she came and knelt before the wounded male and checked his pulse. It was weak.

She removed her skin coat and covered him around his waist then turned him over to lay in his back so she could assess his wounds.

The male on the ground regained consciousness for a short while and saw a face he hadn’t seen in years. He laughed at his hopeless state as tears fell from his eyes. "Sydney?" he muttered softly.

Sydney was checking on the wound on his stomach and did not know that he had woken up but on hearing her name, she looked around to see if any of her mates’ had found her. Luckily, the cubs were doing a great job keeping watch. Her name was whispered once more and this time, she looked at the male she was treating only to find him awake.

He had the bluest eyes she had ever seen, like the deep sea, his eyes seemed to hold the world’s heaviest burden. His face was clean and from his body markings, he was a ninth rank beastman. He had dirty blonde hair and sharp facial features but he was pale at the moment.

"It’s you..." his voice shook weakly as tears blurred his sight. "Our children..they...we..have been looking.... for so long..." he breathed heavily his eyes scanning her in disbelief.

Sydney frowned at little but didn’t take his words to heart. "Don’t speak! You are hurt!" She stopped him. She tore at the bottom of her skin skirt and wrapped the badly bleeding wound on his stomach. It looked fresh, like he had been hurt not too long ago.

"I’ll obediently listen to you." He didn’t protest and listened to what she said. He had lost a considerable of blood but he refused to give into the sleep that kept dragging him. What if he woke up and she wasn’t there anymore.

"You can rest! I’ll get you to the city of beasts for treatment!" She said after securely wrapping his wound.

"No... you’ll leave." he stubbornly refused to shut his eyes

"Do as I say or esle I’ll leave you here for the wild animals to eat!" she threatened.

The wounded male chuckled at her threat. "Alright. I’ll listen." he looked at her with a smile. Guess this isn’t a dream after all. You are still like before!

Sydney ignore his words and sighed. How was she going to get this man home without alarming her hot headed males?

Sydney?" Hamp who had been looking for Sydney called her as soon as he saw her kneeling on the ground. He flicked out his tongue and the air was filled with the stench of blood. "Are you alright? Are you hurt?" He rushed to her side.

Before Sydney could stop him from approaching, he was already at her side eye scanning her from head to toe. She was fine!

He looked at the ground and frowned. "This male!! Did he hurt you?" he asked angrily.

Hamp I’m fine." Sydney assured the irritated snake guy.

Then...." Why are you with him? Hamp wanted to ask but didn’t.

"I found him and he is injured." Sydney explained. "I want to take him back to the city of beasts." she told him what she had in mind.

Hamp looked at Sydney then at the wounded male. He was clearly a ninth rank beastman, who had beaten him to this state?! He also didn’t seem like a stray!

"Hamp.." Sydney called drawing the poor guys’ attention to her. "Can you help me?" she asked gingerly. "I don’t have the heart to leave him behind but I also can’t take him to my home. Can he stay at your place till he recovers? I’ll be responsible for his meals, okay? I can only trust you now!" She sported a sorry look devising means to convence him.

But who knew she didn’t have to do all that as Hamp was already carrying the wounded beastman in his arms.

"I’ll look after him!" Hamp declared. Sydney was stunned.

"Thank you so much!!" Sydney’s face glowed. If only her mates’ were as obedient as Hamp!

"Let’s hurry back! Blood will attract more wild beasts!" He warned her and looked at the small cubs that were playing guard. He laughed.

"Let’s go guys!" Sydney called out to her small bodyguards and returned to join the other group.

Titan had just returned and saw Sydney was missing her coat and her skirt was also torn. He frowned and walked towards her side.

"What happened to your clothes?" he asked holding her upper arms to scan her. There was a faint smell of blood on her but she didn’t have any wound.

"I tore them!" Sydney didn’t bother lying. But she felt bad, Titan had made these clothes for her with great effort.

"Do you not like them?" He asked with a frown. "They are old! I’ll make you new ones." he promised. He didn’t probe why she did so as long as she was fine and there was no sense of danger from her side.

Sydney didn’t say anything and let Titan hold her hand.

"One of my caves is near. Do you want to go see it? I can also pick out my skins to make new clothes for you!" he suggested. He wasn’t used to her silence when with him. She was the one that normally initiated talks with him.

Sydney didn’t refuse or agree so Titan didn’t know which she wanted. His mood fell upon realising she wasn’t interested in seeing his cave. Not that there was much to see!

Sydney followed after Titan and saw that they were heading back to the city. She looked at her hand in his own then at his sad face. "Aren’t you taking me to your cave?" She asked.

Titan halted and looked at her his eyes glowing in the process. He smiled at her making Sydney giggle.

He let go of her hand and shifted into his full beast form.

No matter how many times Sydney saw Titan’s beastform, it was like it was the first time always! She gazed at his snake body in fascination and walked close to him. She glided her hands gently on his body and enjoyed the smoothness of his scales and it’s cool texture.

Titan coiled himself like a centipede and brought his head to the center of his body where Sydney stood. His head alone was like a small mountain itself. He flicked his tongue and licked her face and lowered his head for her to get on.

Sydney didn’t have trouble climbing ontop of him and they set off.

The journey was smooth and they arrived after a few hours.

The cave was big and neat! Sydney looked around the mouth of the cave in awe. She walked further in and saw the golden light emanating from its depth. Titan had also shifted back to his human form and was followibehind her eyes on her back.

Sydney sprinted off in the direction of the light bringing a smile on Titan’s face.

Reaching the end of the cave which was was wide as a football stadium, Sydney halted in her steps in awe, her mouth hanging open. The walls were covered in gold stones! and the top of the cave had a small opening that brought light in. There were not only gold stones, but different coloured stones!

"Wow!" She laughed. All these riches!!!

Titan stood behind her and kept his eyes in her amused face. "I found this cave after I attained my tenth rank!" he explained.

"You are very rich! How lucky I am!" Sydney exclaimed as she went to pick one big green stone.

Titan tilted his head to side. Rich? What does that mean? He wanted to ask but didn’t. He didn’t want to look stupid. He’d ask Scott when he went back to the city.

"Can I touch?" Sydney turned back to look at Titan unable to hide the bubbling excitement in her eyes.

"You can take anything you want! I have twenty more caves with more prettier stones!" he assured her. Most beastmen didn’t fancy these types of thengs and he had also gathered them out of boredom. It was his luck that made him find a female who loved such beautiful stones.
