Chapter 96: Alive

Both Gregory and Prescott widened their eyes in shock. They were unable to utter any words for several minutes after hearing Killian’s words.

"What did you just say?" finally after coming out of his bewilderment, Gregory uttered his words still in confusion.

Killian folded his arms around his chest and replied in a calm voice "It is just as you heard. I can return your beloved’s soul into her body right at this moment"

"Impossible" came the quick reply from Gregory, "How can someone even do that?" returning someone’s soul from the gem was not a simple task. Only the current master of the gem can command it to release the soul, and that too only on the day of blood eclipse with the help of someone from the Fox tribe, because only they were capable of shifting the soul without any complication. But this dangerous beastman was saying that he could defy all this and do this by himself? Impossible.

"Well suit yourself whether to believe it or not" Killian just shrugged his shoulders "I just have to kill you two and take her away if you don’t agree to my conditions"

Gregory frowned and observed Killian and said "Can you really do that?"

Prescott whisked towards Gregory and glared at him "Don’t say me you believe him? Greg, he is trapping us"

"Can you do it?" Gregory repeated his words ignoring Prescott’s obvious disapproval.

Killian smirked "Theodore will be here in a few minutes, do you really want to waste time by investigating me?"

Gregory clenched his fists and took Iria from Prescott’s arms "I will kill you if you betray me!" his frigid voice made Killian chuckle.

"Don’t Greg" Prescott held his shoulder and shook his head, "Don’t believe him, what if he.....?"

"So you want to wait until that wretched day to bring back Iria’s soul?" Gregory snapped cutting his words, "Even if we succeed in getting hold of the ’sapphire of wish’, only Lyra can make that wish with the help of fox king. Do you think that all of this will happen? That fox bastard will kill himself rather than helping us"

Prescott clenched his fists and turned his glare towards Killian "Remember boy, the moment you do something funny will be the moment I kill your mate" he smiled seeing Killian’s furious gaze, "I know that I can’t kill you, but your beloved is different. It is not like you can guard her all the time"

Saying that he released Gregory’s shoulders allowing him to move forward. Striding towards Killian, Gregory put Iria on the ground and backed away.

"You can return to your friend now, I need some space to cast my spell"

Gregory reluctantly returned to Prescott’s side and observed as Killian closed his eyes and started summoning something.

"Kenna, I want you to bring this body’s soul out of the gem," he said kneeling on the ground beside Iria’s lifeless body. He was stunned looking at her face, the woman looked just like Lyra. Still, his treasure was the most beautiful one.

Kenna sighed hearing its master’s thoughts about his mate "It will be difficult master, the gem is protecting her soul"

"I know you can do it, moreover now the gem is more focused on guarding Lyra than this woman, so just try it" he replied.

Kenna rolled its eyes "Did you really negotiate with them without even being sure of this? What will you do if this fails and her soul gets lost forever?"

"That is none of my business" he muttered nonchalantly, "Just do what I say"

"Fine" Kenna sighed and started connecting with the ’sapphire of wish’. Whereas Killian bit his finger bringing out blood from it, then he lowered his hand towards Iria’s mouth and made her consume a drop of his blood for protection during the soul-filling process. His blood was filled with his innate firepower, which would help in making her body stronger.

Gregory and Prescott observed everything with their keen eyes from their place. Not long after that, bright blue light mixed with red light covered the entire Wayland forest. Two powers started merging into one creating a beautiful blue-red color on the sky.

Back in the beast city inside the rose castle, the pendant on Lyra’s neck shone brightly with the mixed colors of blue and red making her surprised. In contrast to her panic, the light felt soothing on her skin. She instinctively felt familiar with the new red light, "Killian" she muttered smiling.

Back in the Wayland forest, Killian too smiled gently recognizing her familiar ambiance from the blue light, "My treasure" he said and looked down at Iria, "I hope this will make you happy" everything he was doing right now was for her, his mate. Bringing a soul out from the gem was taking a toll on his body, he was arrogant in proposing this method, but it was worth it if it meant for her safety. Although not too powerful, Gregory was someone crazy and he didn’t want to risk Lyra’s life unnecessarily by fighting too many enemies all at once. Bringing back Iris’s soul meant that Gregory would stay away from Lyra in the future because he had no purpose in using her to make a wish from the gem.

He closed his eyes and concentrated all his power on Kenna. After some time, Kenna was finally able to take Iria’s soul out of the gem. Putting his hand on her forehead, he released some of his life force to support the soul which was entering the body.

"It is dangerous, master!" Kenna shouted in alarm seeing Killian’s weak state, "Let me do it instead of you or take those two idiots life force instead"

"I’m fine Kenna," he said trying to maintain his consciousness, "It will be just a matter of days before I recover, I should just stay with my mate for the next few days and I will be fine"

Using life force was dangerous, but it was the only option he had right now. Recovering for an immortal beastman was quite easy so his words eased Kenna’s worries. Moreover for black panthers, staying in their soulmate’s presence was enough to regain their powers. And Kenna bet that he was doing this because he wanted to gain his mate’s sympathy.

"I know your purpose for doing this" Kenna muttered making him laugh.

"I want to monopolize all of her time" he jokingly replied.

Kenna just shook its head at its master’s antics and returned its focus on Iria’s soul, "All done" it announced bringing Gregory and Prescott’s attention towards Iria.

As Killian lifted his hand from Iria’s forehead, the woman lying on the floor fluttered her eyes opening them. Brown eyes like that of forest soil greeted Killian, "How do you feel?" he asked.

Iria blinked to clear her vision and stared back at a handsome man with black hair and Auburn eyes "Wh-who...are you?" her speech flattered. She slowly lifted her hand and caressed her hoarse throat, "Theo?"

Theodore who was walking towards Killian heard the sweetest voice calling his name. Because he was behind Killian, he was not able to discern the situation, but his heart pounded when he heard his mate’s voice "Iria?"

Killian turned around and got up from the ground "We should leave this place" he said as he looked back at Gregory and Prescott thrashing the invisible barrier he created without them realizing, "Did you two really think that I would hand her over to crazy bastards like you?"

The reason for bringing her soul back in here was because Wayland forest was filled with energy that boosted Kenna’s power. At first, he thought about bringing her back to the beast city before doing this but he didn’t want to take a chance. Kenna was more powerful inside this forest and that made him do something like fake negotiating with these two idiots.

He looked at Theodore hugging Iria and started creating a portal into the beast city "Good luck getting out that barrier idiots" he chuckled.

Turning towards Theodore he smiled "We should leave father in law"

Theodore looked at Killian with tear stricken face "Thank you" he muttered and Killian could feel the man’s sincerity in his words.

Expressing his gratitude, Theodore got up from the ground with Iria and stepped towards the portal.

Gregory widened his eyes and banged the invisible wall in front of him "Iria!" his loud voice made her flinch in Theodore’s embrace.

Turning towards him she frowned in confusion "Greg?" then she looked at Theodore, "What is happening here Theo? why is Gregory struggling there?" then her eyes filled with horror seeing Prescott beside him "Why is he here?"

Theodore caressed her back and said "First let’s get out of here. I’ll explain everything after that"

"But Greg....." she started but Killian cut her words, "We are running out of time, I don’t have much energy left to open another portal"

Theodore nodded his head and reckoned Iria inside the portal amidst a loud outcry from both Gregory and Prescott.
