Chapter 78: Face to face

After spending some time with Noah, Lyra got up from the bed to take bath and get ready. She needed to clear the things between her and Theodore. It was not so easy to acknowledge him as her father, but she wanted to listen to his words. And she was also curious about her biological mother, she wanted to know the reason for her not visiting her even now. What made her go to another world? What happend for her to get separated from her biological parents.

After washing herself and dressing up, she reached the living room. As she alighted, her blue eyes met similar blue eyes staring back at her. Lyra didn’t know why, but looking at his miserable gaze she felt her eyes burning and a lump forming in her throat.

Theodore observed his daughter’s lovely face and felt guilty for not being able to see her grow up in front of him. He and Iria had many ideas planned for their baby’s future, they discussed it almost every day. He smiled faintly remembering getting reprimanded by Iria for mentioning spoiling their baby once she is born. Then his mood plummeted recalling how devasted they were once the baby was stillborn. He did not even have a moment to console his mate because of the ongoing battle that they were fighting against the fox tribe.

He shook his head trying to get rid of those depressing days. That was all in the past and he would make sure to take revenge on every one of those who caused this misery to his family. He looked up at Lyra smiling.

Lyra smiled awkwardly in return, she didn’t know how to start a conversation with her real father. He was almost a stranger to her as of now and she was contemplating how to address him. Theodore understood her dilemma and opened his mouth "Don’t force yourself, dear, you can talk when you are ready"

She felt apologetic hearing his words. It was her who shouted and created a commotion yesterday without even giving a chance to explain himself, but not heeding that, he was patiently consoling her in return. She bent her head in shame "I’m sorry about yesterday, I shouldn’t have behaved like that"

He chuckled looking at her adorable face "Anyone would have reacted like that in your condition. Don’t worry too much dear"

Lyra nodded her head and thanked him. Then she decided to talk about the important matters regarding her origin "How did I end up in another world?"

Theodore raised his brows and gestured her to come down "Take a seat first, we will discuss everything slowly"

Lyra agreed to his suggestion and strode towards the stone chair and reclined on it. Theodore also did the same and once they were comfortable, he opened his mouth "After listening to me, please know that I and your mother always cherished you. So make sure to not blame yourself for anything I’m going to say"

Although confused Lyra nodded her head "I promise that I will take everything positively"

Theodore smiled and started talking "When Iria went into labor, our tribe was being attacked by the fox tribe. Due to that commotion, Iria suffered an injury resulting in you being born as a stillborn baby"

Lyra widened her eyes "S-still born?"

He understood her shock but still thought about completing everything. She deserved to know about these things, before explaining Iria’s current situation "To save you, Iria made a wish using ’sapphire of wish’ to return your life. But instead, she decided to exchange her life, or so I believed, but it was completely different from what I heard recently"

Lyra furrowed her brows "What do you mean by that?"

"I was informed that ’sapphire of wish’ does not exchange a life to repay a wish. But now I learned that all of that was just lies to gain something greater. After you returned to life, I think Iria was in some kind of danger, which resulted in forcing the sapphire of wish to pull out Iria’s soul and trap it inside the gem" he explained making her more confused.

"Do you mean to say that mother is still alive?" Lyra asked after absorbing all the information

Theodore smiled hearing her mention Iria as mother and nodded his head "She is indeed alive, but Gregory took her body away from me.so I don’t have any idea about her current location"

"Gregory? The witch master of mermaid tribe?" Lyra asked doubtfully.

He gritted his teeth as he replied "Gregory was Iria’s admirer in the past, he hated me for becoming Iria’s mate. So he is trying to hurt you, my daughter to get revenge on me"

"He is trying to hurt me?" she questioned thinking deeply

"The gem will not let out Iria’s soul until it deems her safe. Therefore he is trying to force the gem to choose between you and Iria. As you are the current master of the gem, it will let Iria’s soul out and pull your soul into it preventing your demise. Then if something goes wrong with your body, you will always remain inside the gem" He interpreted everything as much as he could.

Then something flashed in his mind "Why are you not asking anything about ’sapphire of wish’? Aren’t you curious about it?"

Lyra shook her head "I can decipher that the gem which I brought with me to this world is ’Sapphire of wish’ "

Seeing his surprised face, she clarified "That pendant always appeared in the time of my crisis. I thought that it was just a coincidence, but now I realize that it was trying to save me from harm"

"You are quite sharp" he commented

After talking to each other, Lyra felt relieved. She was also worried about her mother’s condition. Gregory took such drastic measures, because of love. She didn’t hate him but was quite disappointed in him. The matter would have been solved with the proper conversation but her parents and Gregory brushed off the matters which resulted in such complications.

Lyra also understood her mother’s heart. Her mother loved only her father, so she refused to accept anyone other than him. She couldn’t help but think about her situation before accepting Lucas and Noah, she loved Blake and will always love him, but that didn’t mean that she would not cherish her other mates. The only one to blame in this matter was the laws of the beast world. Polyandry was a norm here and it was not something that can be changed overnight, also males in this world were too attached to the females they loved, it was rather cruel for them because they could not love anyone else after being rejected or abandoned.

Even now, she was only comfortable with Blake, Lucas, and Noah, but because Killian was her soulmate, she was also attracted, maybe even started loving him. But that was not the same with Victor and Demir, both of them had a trauma that they had to face at a young age, so she resolved her mind to accept them if it meant for their happiness. She also had to admit that, she was not a saint who likes to help others without any reason, her family’s peace depended on her decisions. She didn’t want any of her mates to fight each other if possible, all of them were powerful beastmen, it would cause chaos if they fought for her sake. She was not someone who enjoyed seeking satisfaction by seeing men fight over her, ’No thanks’ she thought inwardly.
