Chapter 232: Lyra’s babies

[Snake Tribe]

Two tiny balls of red fur sprinted all along the snake tribe. One could also see nine black snakes vigorously chasing after them.

The snake brothers hissed in joy as they saw their little brothers jumping around. Just looking at them made the little snakes happy.

Whereas the other snakelings in the snake tribe were left in shock. They couldn’t believe their eyes. Their young masters were always cold to them and only used them to further their combat powers by fighting. But now, the same frigid young masters were happily playing around with two lion cubs.

Their young masters even warned them to not get near the cubs and ordered them to protect their little brothers from shadows so that was what they were doing right now. They were hiding behind the trees and observing the cubs’ surrounding for any possible threat.

But they were babies too. As soon as it was time for them to eat, their father beasts and mothers came to fetch them. The snakelings happily snuggled into their mother’s legs and left that place.

The lion cubs stopped in their tracks and observed as the snakelings rushed toward their mothers. The snake females were smiling widely while coddling their young ones.

Seeing this scene made the lion cubs sad. They had momentarily forgotten everything and were enjoying themselves until they saw this. Tears brimmed in their beautiful beady eyes. Mommy! They were crying silently for a while until they couldn’t take it anymore and started to cry loudly. They missed their mommy! They wanted her now!

The little snakes were baffled and tried to appease their little brothers but soon they too started to feel emotional remembering their mom. Tears dripped from their green and blue colored crystal eyes. They tried to hold on until their father finds their mother but it was getting too late. Peter took good care of them but they still missed their mom. Their father was also nowhere to be found either and this was making them more and more frantic.

Peter who got the whisk of this news, hurriedly headed outside the castle to find his young masters. And when he found them, the sight that caught his eyes left him speechless. His strong young masters were shedding tears not caring about their reputation amongst their tribesmen. Meanwhile, the ever-naughty, lion princes were howling their hearts out. He didn’t know what to do. He is a bachelor beastman and never had any interaction with crying cubs and snakelings.

"What happend, young master?" still he tried to ask his young masters, and the reply he received was, "Ssss" ’We want mom!’ they were constantly hissing asking for their mom.

Peter smiled apologetically, "I’m sorry young masters, I forgot to tell you. The queen was found last night by the scorpion prince. The Scorpion tribe had sent someone to inform me about this but....."

Before he could finish his words, the little snakes jointly attacked him while biting him fiercely. They were here waiting days for news about their mom and this dimwit here was saying that he forgot to inform them. The little snakes were extremely angry with Peter.

Meanwhile, Peter silently received the punishment given by his young masters. Thier bite marks did not hurt him anyway. Whereas the lion cubs had no idea what was going on but continued to cry for their mommy.

And when Lyra reached the snake tribe, this was the first sight she saw. Her lion babies were crying while sitting on the ground and her snake babies were attacking Peter.

Victor standing beside his mate too stood bewildered not understanding the scene happening in front of him.

On the other side, Demir found the situation funny. How could he not when he saw nine little snakes attacking a five-marked beastman?

"Babies?" Lyra hurriedly walked towards the lion cubs and picked them up from the ground. She then caressed their back trying to soothe them. Her heart broke seeing them crying so pitifully, "There there, babies. Mommy is here, don’t cry"

The cubs didn’t stop crying fully but it lessened considerably as they smelled their mother’s familiar and soothing scent. Meanwhile, the little snakes that heard their mom’s voice suddenly left Peter’s side before rushing toward her.

Lyra saw them coming and instantly lowered herself to the ground waiting for her babies. The snakelings gathered along their mom’s lap as she caressed their little heads individually, "Did you guys miss mommy?’’ she asked softly and received hisses in return. She always felt sad for not understanding them better. It was the same with her lion cubs but this time though, she perfectly comprehended her babies’ feelings. They were feeling sad and the reason for that was her.

"Mommy is here," she said soothingly, "I will always be here with all of you, so don’t cry, babies"

When her babies turned calm, all of them went inside the snake castle.

This was the first time, Lyra had visited the snake castle so she took her time observing the infrastructure. Unlike the scorpion castle, this resembled the rose castle with two stories but the snake castle was slightly bigger than the two.

The snakelings were more familiar with this place and were eagerly showing every place inside the castle to their mom. Whereas the lion cubs wiggled in their mother’s hold until she let them down on the ground. They wanted to walk with their elder brothers.

But the one that was even more excited than the children was Peter. He was enthusiastically explaining the layout of the snake castle, "My queen, I have been waiting for this day. I’m glad that you are here. Our tribesmen always wanted to meet you"

Lyra smiled, "You should have told me sooner then. I would have visited way earlier"

Peter grinned but soon frowned when he felt two powerful beast pressures. And when he turned in that direction, he saw the vulture king and Scorpion prince glaring daggers at him. Now he understood the reason for the queen having fewer admirers compared to other females. Every one of her mates were in higher positions because her mates stopped other lower-level beastmen from approaching her.

But he didn’t know why he was receiving that hard glare from the two when he was not even interested in becoming the queen’s mate. He likes his life and would not do anything stupid to lose it.

"Victor..... Demir....." Lyra warned her two mates when she saw them glaring at Peter. That call stopped them but they were still vigilant and followed right behind their mate as Peter showed them the castle.
