Chapter 217: Rootless

"What are you doing here?’’ Killian withheld himself from using his powers when he heard a familiar voice behind him.

Kaizer too stopped his shadow creature from attacking Killian and stared as a man with emerald green eyes stepped forward.

Meanwhile, Blake looked between Killian and the familiar rootless beastman with a frown etched on his face. While searching for his mate, he heard a commotion not far from his location and went there only to find Killian confronting the rootless beastman.

He had many questions in his mind but the one that came out of his mouth was, "What about the babies?"

And he received an instant reply for that, "They are fine. I left them with Peter before coming here"

Blake nodded before glancing back at Kaizer. To this day, he had not forgotten about the illusion that the latter forced upon him. The one where his mate lay as a cold corpse. And now with his mate going missing, that memory left a bitter taste in his mouth. But the priority right now was not getting caught up in his anger.

However, the resolution that he came up with cracked as soon as he heard Kilian’s next words, "Are your senses dead, snake?"

"What do you mean?"

Killian turned to him as he said, "I can smell our mate on that bastard!"

Blake whisked his head towards the rootless beast and frowned. His senses were not as good as other land beastmen but after concentrating, he could make out his mate’s scent on the rootless beastman. And as soon as he confirmed it, red covered his vision as he glared at the latter, ’’You....did you see my mate somewhere?’’

That made Killian scoff. He looked at Blake before saying, ’’Stop putting it in such a nice way’’ then he glared at Kaizer as he added, ’’This bastard reeks of our mate from his head to toe! Just like we do when we mate with her!’’ this was why he was losing his calm. Blake might be a little bad at his senses as a snake beastman but not him! Killian as a feline-type beastman felt his head ringing while he smelled his mate on some unknown rootless beastman. It was like a harsh slap on his face for not protecting his mate well. Also, he was alright with his mate taking in and mating with other beastmen if that is what she liked. If that is what she consented to. But....he was a cent percent sure of that being unexistent in this situation. That black wolf is a rootless beastman and his mate would have never agreed to mate with someone like that willingly.

On the other side, Blake too paled as he understood Killian’s words. He hesitantly looked at Kaizer and parted his lips, ’’Did you.....?’’ words struggled to come out of his mouth because he dreaded the reply that he would receive. For a second, he wished that his mate liked the rootless beastman. He wished she consented to whatever that would have transpired between them. He never wanted his mate to go through something that she didn’t like.

As Killian and Blake mused in agony, Kaizer silently observed the two of them and sighed tiredly. He wanted to shout at them for even daring to think something like that. He would never harm his bunny ever! ’’Nothing like that happened between us! I will never do something like that to her’’

’’But you are a rootless beastman!’’ Yelled Killian when he couldn’t take it anymore. He wanted to rip apart the one in front of him.

’’Yes, but not a stray beastman!’’ Kaizer too yelled back at him, ’’I’m different. We rootless beastmen greatly differ from those strays!’’

Killian gritted his teeth, ’’What difference? There is nothing like that! You are born from a stray beastman and that makes you one of them!’’

’’No.....’’ Kaizer sighed, ’’My father was not a stray. He was a rootless beastman just like me. My parents loved each other and that resulted in me getting born’’

Killian frowned, ’’Really?’’ many had little to no information about rootless beastmen. The only thing that they knew about the latter was that they couldn’t mark a female and that scenario was just like stray beasts. The strays were beastmen that got abandoned by females. After that, they went crazy with hatred for females and hurt them. But the ironic thing here was that the same strays that loathed other females never dared to hurt their own females that had abandoned them. Even after experiencing all that pain, they refused to hurt thier former mates and instead took out thier anger on other females. And as for the rootless beastmen, they were born as a result of an assault done on females by strays.

Hearing Kaizer’s affirmation soothed his mind a little bit but that still didn’t explain the reason for having his mate’s scent on the latter.

"So where is my mate?" Blake asked breaking the silence.

"Yes, where is my mate?" Killian asked agitatedly, "Take me to her right now!"

"Alright, follow me," Kaizer said resignedly as he started to walk. He had enough of the two. Although he didn’t like the idea of sending her away, it felt unreasonable for him to keep her in the dark for too long. A day would definitely arrive when his bunny would force him to let her go and if he defied, the only thing that remained for him would be her hatred. He was not capable enough of going through something like that. The mere thought of her disappointed gaze directed at him made him breathless and suffocated.

Whereas, Killian was in disbelief and only moved forward when Blake nudged him. He couldn’t understand why the rootless beastman was so compliant all of a sudden.

Meanwhile, Blake had no thought in his mind other than seeing his mate as soon as possible. He just hoped to reach her and wanted to embrace her soft body the moment he saw her. The image of her smiling face made his eyes sting with tears. But this anticipation turned into anger when they finally reached the place....and his mate was not there.
