The most awaited coronation banquet finally arrived and the entire fox tribe was filled with a festive air. After their late king’s untimely death, their tribe was drowned in sorrow and despair. They were still troubled about not finding the murderer of their king but that grief seemed to have reduced with the appointment of their new king.

Lexi was taking care of the arrangements for today’s banquet. Actually, the one to do this must have been the queen of the fox tribe but her mother didn’t like mingling with the outside world after her father’s death. Her mother’s smile seemed to have disappeared with her father. Her heart ached every time she saw her mother like this because she could understand her pain. After all, she had experienced it. Her Derik too died like her father but in his case, she knew the murderer but could not do anything about it.

Dueling for the throne is acceptable in the beast city. The more powerful one deserved that seat and this was the rule everyone had come to accept. Lexi sometimes saw Derek’s brother and knew that he was a powerful individual but she had never guessed that beastman could betray her spouse. It was sudden and Derek had no time to prepare before he lost his life in his brother’s hand. She precisely didn’t know what drove him to do that but she could guess. Males in the beast world tend to do things that they never did before in their lives due to females. They liked showing off their power and authority to impress their beloved.

Lexi tried her hardest to not blame that female but she failed at last. She heard about Kyrell courting Lyra and was sure that he must have done this for that vile female. That wench is something else. First, she stole Lucas from Elena which drove her friend into madness. Yes, only madness could explain Elena’s recent behavior. Sheltering those stray beasts and putting her entire tribe in danger could only mean that her friend has finally lost her mind. And all this was because of that Lyra.

’’All of the arrangements are done, Your highness’’

Lexi came out of her thoughts hearing a servant’s voice. She roamed her eyes around the tribe and nodded in satisfaction. The patio in the middle of the banquet was adorned with decorations of various colored gems and valuable metals like gold that were recently discovered in the beast world. In the center of the patio, the throne which her brother would ascend was regally placed. Many bonfires surrounded the patio according to the tribe’s influence in the city. Lion and Silver wolf tribes were placed near the patio as they are the strongest of the land tribes.

Every tribe inside the city including the eagle tribe was invited to the banquet. The fox tribe has no feud with the eagle tribe and her brother wanted it to keep it that way. He is the king after all and she had no other choice than to heed his orders. Leaving that matter, her brother also informed her to strictly prohibit the Black wolf tribe from entering their tribe. It is not only her brother but the entire city too decided to isolate the Black wolf tribe.

Lyra was getting ready for the banquet inside her room when someone walked towards her and she felt a pair of strong arms encircle her waist.

’’Killian?’’ a smile adorned her lips as she called out the owner of the arms hugging her. She turned around to face him but her smile faded away as soon as she saw his face.

His brows were furrowed and he was tightly clenching his jaw as though trying to contain the emotions that were bubbling inside him. His bright amber eyes were dimmed as he stared at her.

Lyra couldn’t stop herself from cupping his cheeks between her small palms, ’’What’s wrong, sweetheart?’’

Killian’s eyes softened when he heard her endearment for him but they soon turned sad and he uttered, ’’I don’t like this. Sending you when there are so many dangers out there. Gregory is inside the city and worst, he is staying with those stray beasts. What if something happens to you... " he stopped talking further because even thinking about something bad happening to his mate made him angry and as well as scared. He never in his life feared someone but that changed after meeting his mate.

Just the mere thought of someone harming his mate enraged him. He sometimes felt like burning everything down to ashes and taking his mate away from everyone and everything else. He would really do that if something happened to his mate.

Killian barely managed to suppress these dark desires because of his mate. She had people close to her here and would never forgive him if he separated her from them. His selfishness was nothing in front of his mate. Her happiness mattered the most to him.

As he continued to fight back his urges, Lyra observed him for a long time before pecking his lips.

"I’ll be fine, sweetheart" her heart ached for him. He looked like a lost puppy trying to hold onto her to bring him back home. And she is his ’Home’

Lyra caressed his face starting from his brow bone to his sculpted jaw. Killian closed his eyes and leaned his face into her palm as he relished his mate’s affection.

When her fingers reached his lips, he opened his eyes and gazed at her darkly. Slightly parting his luscious lips, he started to suck her fingers one by one. He twirled his tongue on her palm making her giggle. His other free hand went around her waist and he pulled her towards him.

Lyra meekly looked up at him through her moist eyelashes and gasped when she felt his hand grab one of her mounds. He started to massage it gently at first but it soon became fervent and she had no other choice than to enjoy his ministrations with her eyes closed.

Killian glanced at his mate with lust-filled eyes. She looked so vulnerable like this and that pleased him to no end. Suddenly something dark flashed in his mind. He thought of seducing his mate and making her stay back. He wandered his eyes across his mate’s blissful face. She looked so lost in pleasure, so he decided to take a chance and moved in to kiss her lips but stopped when he felt a feeble hand against his chest.

Lyra slowly opened her eyes and blinked several times to get rid of the haze, Then she realized her position and promptly stopped Killian from moving any further, ’’We can’t do this now. I will be late for the banquet if we continue’’

Killian frowned due to his missed chance but still continued to caress her lips with his fingers in an attempt to once again tempt her but his ruthless mate bit his fingers and stepped back while glaring at him.

’’I know what you are doing’’ Lyra said as she started to fix her clothes. She knew him like the back of her hand. Her mischievous panther was trying to lure her poor self into his trap and she could guess why he was doing it. He somehow wanted to stop her from leaving, so he pettily sought after this method because.....well, she was horny most of the time and all of her mates looked scrumptious most of the time. One heated gaze from them was enough to get her all hot and bothered.

Who could blame her? Her mates are a bunch of hot men that love her. How could she stop them when such beautiful male specimens made an advance on her? No woman with a sane mind would be able to do that.

This made her always fall into their trap but not this time. She had a banquet to attend and she didn’t want to be late. Glancing up, she caught sight of her mate’s sulking face. He was purposefully making that face to guilt-trip her but it did not work this time.

Lyra briefly pecked his cheeks before sprinting out of the room, ’’We can continue this when I return’’

And that notion made his ear perk. He gleefully turned around and asked, ’’Really!?’’

She nodded and gave him a bashful smile before going down the stairs.
