Chapter 177: Clueless

Blake settled Lyra on the bed and covered her with a quilt.

His mate’s suffering and grief were affecting him too. All of her emotions be it happiness or sadness, he could feel through their bond, and this time, it made him sad. The bloodlust that he didn’t feel for so long burned inside his chest. Seeing her unconscious did not help either.

It took all his power to keep his composure. It was already like this for him, so Blake didn’t dare guess how Killian must be feeling. He hated to say this but Killian and Lyra were much emotionally attached due to being each other’s soulmates.

And as though true to his guess, Killian was already losing himself. One of his hands was morphed into his beast form with sharp claws protruding out of his fingers.

"Killian!" Blake warned him in a low tone. He did not want Killian to lose his senses while his mate is not well. No one would be able to stop him if that happen. Another fight would break between them if Blake tried to stop him forcefully.

Killian took a deep breath hearing Blake’s warning, "I-i’m fine" his words were as though he was trying to convince himself but it didn’t seem to work and Blake could see it.

"She is just unconscious" Blake forced out his words because falling unconscious is not something simple and it is already the second time in a row. But reassuring Killian felt more important, so he added, "She will be fine"

Killian nodded absent-mindedly and closed his eyes. When he couldn’t take it anymore, he completely shifted into his beast form and stepped toward his mate. He nuzzled his head against her face and growled pitifully.

They were beasts by nature and their instincts increased when something went wrong with their mates. Their inner self could feel the discomfort that their mate is feeling and that in turn forced them to stay near their mate in thier true forms. This is because they instinctively believed that they could protect their mate best in beast form. The more one is powerful, the more one would feel this urge.

Blake too slowly succumbed to this urge and shifted into his beast form. Then he rested his snake head near his mate while the rest of his body was coiled on the ground. He just hoped that Victor would be alright. They were feeling like this even while being near their mate, so it would be worst for Victor. Lucas and Noah will be okay for now because they are not immortal beastmen but it would not last long.

They did not feel this much anxiety even when she was kidnapped by Kyrell. It was because they didn’t feel any serious threat near her at that time. But it is different now. Her plummeting health is clear as the sky and the only way it could improve is by the cubs. Them being saved is equaled to their mate being safe and healthy.

As both Blake and Killian struggled to keep their rationale, Xavier tried his best to freeze the poison inside the cubs’ bodies. He reduced his powers and focused on stopping the poison with minimal powers because the cubs were not in a condition to receive all his powers.

"This is only temporary...." He informed Noah, "You have to get the antidote as soon as possible"

Noah sighed tiredly. All of his thoughts were muddled inside his mind. His mate fell unconscious and his cubs were poisoned. He didn’t know what to do. He wanted to run to his mate and tell her about all of his thoughts but the one to hear and soothe him is not in a condition to do so.

Grieving in his thoughts, he didn’t notice someone entering the room but Xavier did.

Victor cast a fleeting glance at Xavier but soon looked at Noah, "Where is my sweet girl?" What happened to her? Why am I feeling so anxious? He wanted to ask all of these questions but held back. He didn’t want to imagine the worst.

Noah turned to look at him and said, "She once again lost her consciousness"

"Once again?" Victor raised his brows, "She woke up after I left?"

Noah nodded and Victor gritted his teeth before tossing the spirit wings at him, "I don’t know how to use it. Find someone who knows about it"

Saying his words, he left the room to find his mate. He felt restless the more he stayed away from his sweet girl and the only thought in his mind was seeing her.

Blake and Killian felt Victor’s presence and urgently raised their heads while glancing at the door. Soon enough, Victor entered and walked toward the bed where his mate lay.

"Get away" he roughly shoved Blake away before lifting his mate and hugging her.

’Ssssss’ Blake menacingly hissed at him but Victor didn’t pay him any attention. He rested his face on the crook of her neck and inhaled her scent. The anxiety which forced him to rush to the beast city started to subside the more he breathed in her familiar and calming fragrance.

Seeing Victor’s distress, Blake didn’t trouble him anymore and shifted back to his beastman form but Killian remained the same.

"Where are the spirit wings?"

"I gave it to that Lion" Victor said while putting Lyra back on the bed.

Blake nodded and asked, "Do you know how to use it?"

Victor shook his head, "I don’t know"

"Then how....?"

"Stop questioning me will you?!" Victor snapped as Blaze continued to pester him, "Use your brain for once snake! Go and bring Darcio"

"Ah right!" Blake got up from his place and walked toward the door but suddenly stopped in his tracks. He longingly looked back at his mate and couldn’t bring himself to leave.

"Killian you go"

Killian didn’t even care to hear his words and continued to stay beside his mate.

Blake gritted his teeth and left the room. He understood that it is useless to persuade Killian.

Soon Darcio came following Blake. He too didn’t know much about spirit wings because no one has ever brought them out of the vulture cliff. So as soon he heard about Victor leaving to get it, he used his sage powers to at least get a clue about it through prophecies but it did not work.

Prophecies in the first place are rare and only arrive in the form of dreams when something important or dangerous is about to occur in the beast world.

Therefore, he stood helpless while trying to discern the spirit’s wings.
