Chapter 171: Warmth

Standing near the door, Killian observed Xavier’s dazed face with displeasure. He wanted to punch that stranger and throw him out of their house but held back.

He was still lost in his thoughts when he sensed Kenna’s presence. And as expected, a tiny blazing bird settled on his forearm. Killian didn’t know why, but he sensed that Kenna was in a bad mood. The bird that constantly pestered him with its endless blabbering was now too quiet.

"Kenna?" Even its master’s call failed to reach it because Kenna was focused on something...No someone else.

Kenna’s sharp gaze wavered for a moment due to dread. It stared at Xavier with terror-filled eyes. The only thing that ran inside its mind was to take its master out of this place. The sudden flash of vision rendered Kenna motionless.

A vision where his master was slumped on his knees while he was bleeding from his chest and the stranger had his master’s blood-soaked heart in his hand.

Killian frowned at Kenna’s unusual behavior but didn’t dwell too much because he had another important thing to do right now. He had a hard time stopping himself from storming up to that fox prince who was staring at his mate.

Lyra finally relaxed after getting an assurance from Noah. Her babies were going to be fine so now her attention turned toward her big babies. It was midnight and all of her mates were here instead of getting some sleep.

"You guys should get some sleep," she said glancing at them.

But Blake just shrugged, "Males can go on without sleep for days Lilly. Don’t worry about us"

"That’s right baby dove" Noah chimed in, "We will be alright"

"Still..." Lyra whined and got up from the bed and went towards Blake and pushed him out of the room, "Getting sleep every day is important no matter who it is. So go now"

Blake clicked his tongue at her stubbornness but his eyes mellowed looking at her worried face.

"Alright, I’ll go.." Blake agreed and cupped her face in his hand. Only after pressing a sweet kiss on her pouty lips did he leave the room.

Lyra smiled at him and then turned to Killian.

He was rooted in his place as though he had no intention of leaving. Lyra raised her brows in query and he parted his lips, "Push me out too. I’m not leaving unless you do that" He was feeling jealous of that snake so he wanted her to do everything equally. It was only fair, right?

Lyra couldn’t stop herself from chuckling at his absurd words, "You are unbelievable"

She said that but still went to him and tried to push him but he wouldn’t budge. Lyra exerted all of her strength but her stubborn panther must have set his mind on teasing her today. He didn’t move an inch even after all of that and that made her irritated.

"Killian!" She cried and glared at him with a flushed face.

Killian who found her anger-filled face adorable laughed at her and tried to kiss her lips but she avoided him by turning her face away.

"Get lost!" She huffed and turned away while sulking.

Killian tried his best to stop his lips from arching up. He didn’t want her to stay angry at him for too long, so he held her wrist, "I’m sorry, treasure" she remained silent so he embraced her, "I will stop teasing you"

"Really?" She looked up at him still not believing his words but soon smiled seeing his handsome face. She once again thanked God for letting her meet such handsome creatures in her life.

Killian smirked at her dazed face and pecked her lips before leaving the room. He felt extremely happy recalling her twinkling eyes while looking at him.

Lyra blinked her eyes coming out of her daze. Then her gaze fell on Demir and she once again felt her breath hitch. His dark brown hair was shining against the moonlight that entered through the window and his eyes! Lords save her!

She meekly stepped toward him and dragged him while holding his wrist. And he followed after her like an adorable puppy. After exiting the room, she tiptoed and pecked his cheek, "Good night"

"Good night sunshine" He gave her a charming smile and left with Darcio behind him.

Lyra walked back inside the room and stepped toward Noah, "Where is Lucas by the way?" She did not see him even when she woke up and it did not seem like he was inside the castle.

Noah took out a fur shawl and draped it over his mate’s shoulder and replied, "Lucas is escorting my father back to the lion tribe"

Lyra nodded and then looked at Xavier, "What about you, your highness? Are you going to stay here?"

Xavier who was lost looking at the warm interaction between them was surprised by her question but soon composed himself before answering, "I must stay near them for my powers to function"

"Then you can stay in one of the rooms" her eyes went to Noah, "Right?"

Noah looked at Xavier, "Are you alright with that?"

Xavier agreed and Noah went with him to show him his temporary room to reside.

Lyra slumped on the bed and gazed at her cubs. Her heart hurt every time she saw them in such a condition. She regretted ever saying them to stay still and behave in the past. Now, she was ready to pay any price for them to wake up and run all around the castle. She wouldn’t mind them trampling the entire rose garden with their tiny feet.

She just wanted them to be healthy once again, "Mommy is sorry. Please wake up soon" a lone tear trickled down her cheeks and she wiped it with her hand.

Noah returned to the room and his chest clenched painfully seeing his mate’s tears. He made his way towards her and embraced her.

Lyra buried her face in his chest and let her tears fall. She felt calm as his warm palm rubbed her back soothingly, "Everything is going to be okay, baby dove"

She hoped that too or she wouldn’t have the courage to continue living. Of course, she wouldn’t harm herself because her mates needed her but life without her babies would be bleak and dissolute. She would be smiling outside for her mate’s sake but will be broken inside.

And Noah was worried about that too. She looked strong for their sake but all of them knew that this would not last long. They never wanted to see her hitting her breaking point because that would break them too.

Beast men naturally didn’t have that much attachment towards offspring. They were inclined towards having them in order to receive their female’ love and attention for themselves. But surprisingly it was different for them. For instance, Noah had never seen a snake beastman adoring his offspring as much as Blake did. Noah too was ready to go to any lengths to save his babies.

This change and all of this love and affection that they were capable of showing were because of his mate. She changed them for good and they never wanted to go back to those old days.
