Chapter 147: Safeguarding

Together, the lion queen and Lyra’s mother wiped the two little cubs with warm water.

Whereas, Noah changed the bedding under Lyra and wiped her entire body before tucking her to sleep. Her breathing went back to normal and he could also see the rosiness coming back to her cheeks.

"Thank you for being safe" He murmured while caressing her jade-like smooth face.

Then he glanced at the two cubs sleeping beside his mate and felt overwhelmed. He walked up to the other side and picked up the elder cub and carefully cradled the little one in his embrace.

As though sensing his father’s touch, the cub opened his beautiful brown eyes that greatly resembled Noah.

"Oh my!" Noah heard his mother exclaim behind him, "He looks just like you!"

Noah couldn’t help but chuckle after seeing his mother gush out about his son. But he felt a tinge of sadness after looking at the cub that resembled only him and was nothing like his mate. He swept a glance at the younger cub on the bed and noticed that he too did not resemble Lyra.

"Is it over!?" He came out of his thoughts after hearing a booming voice outside the room. He completely forgot about the anxious males waiting for Lyra and felt a little guilty. Noah knew that they must be as much as worried as him but only he was allowed inside the room.

Killian fretted in his place while glaring at the door. It took all his remaining patience to stop himself from barging inside the room. He was nervous when his mate cried and shouted but he felt terrified after she stopped crying. So many bad thoughts ran inside his mind but he kept on pushing them to the back of his head. Killian decided to remain as positive as possible because anything bad happening to his mate was not allowed on his watch.

He took a step forward but halted when he saw Noah opening the door, "Baby dove is fine and she is resting right now" then he looked at everyone and added, "Please don’t unnecessarily disturb her by shouting"

Noah tried to turn around but halted when he sensed all of them rushing towards him.

Their eyes were fixed on the cub in Noah’s embrace.

Lucas blinked his eyes in a daze and looked up to Noah, "Why does he look so much like you?"

’Are you stupid?’ Noah wanted to retort after hearing his absurd question but instead smiled gently after noticing Lucas’ adoration-filled eyes directed at his son.

"Do you want to hold him?" He asked and chuckled as Lucas’ eyes brightened right after those words left his mouth.

"Can I?" Lucas asked with suppressed joy and a little bit of hesitation.

Noah nodded and slowly handed over the cub into Lucas’s arms and the latter cradled the little one like an artifact made of glass.

Lucas suddenly felt nervous about how light the cub weighed. He mentally made a note to make the little one gain weight by feeding him meat.

Meanwhile, Killian standing beside them looked at the cub in trance. He noticed that the cub resembled too much of Noah but he couldn’t help but think that the bright and lovely eyes of the cub resembled Lyra’s. He could even attest to it because most of his time these days passed by him gazing at his mate’s gorgeous eyes and nothing else.

Never in his life, had he seen such lively eyes other than his mate’s until seeing this cub.

"His gaze is the same as my sweet girl’s" Killian just thought about it but Victor voiced it out. He too went into trance looking at the little life that his mate gave birth to. Suddenly he felt bad for commenting such harsh words about this lovely creature previously. He even felt that his mate did well by scolding him right then and there. So he decided to never talk like this in the future and swore that he would always protect his mate and the little cubs.

Now that he noticed, Noah too felt that the little ones’ bright eyes resembled Lyra’s. The color was completely different from her sea-blue eyes but the vibrancy and gleam inside them resembled her.

Demir who was standing on the sidelines too felt curious about all of their words and came forward to take a look at the cub and widened his eyes. A smile adorned his lips after seeing the little one wriggling around Lucas’ arms.

Darcio observed all of them from his place and smiled warmly. Like Lyra, he too felt worried about the cubs if something happened to her during the labor. But seeing all of them looking at the cub with so much affection, he felt reassured and thanked the powers that helped Lyra during the labor.

He guessed that Killian mustn’t have noticed due to his nervousness about his mate but Darcio sensed the power as soon as it entered the vicinity. It was too perfectly masked that he missed it at the beginning but soon discerned the murky air around the labor room.

"Darkness...." He muttered to himself feeling both happy and worried at the same time.

Darcio always felt that the enemies would take this chance to attack Lyra and he was secretly prepared to stop them but it seemed unnecessary because someone else had already done that before it could even come near Lyra.

As there was a joy-filled atmosphere everywhere inside the entire lion tribe, it was the complete opposite in the forest near the same tribe.

A dark shadow’s hand crept around an old man’s throat and clutched it tightly.

"Ple-please.....spare me!" The man stuttered out as he felt his throat getting clutched even tighter than before.

The old witch master felt like his life would definitely end today. He was never the one to care about his safety because all his life, either the late or the current fox kings always protected him. But now for the first time, he not only felt scared of losing his life but also felt terrified about the process leading to his death.

He was just carrying out the fox king’s orders and was trying to attack the gem’s master when she was at her weakest but instead was knocked out before he could even start.

After opening his eyes, he observed that he was lying on the forest grounds near the lion tribe and tried to stand up but felt a harsh kick right in his gut, and in the next moment, his eyes went wide when he looked at the one that attacked him.

Amethyst-colored eyes looked cold and indifferent but he could make out the suppressed anger inside them. Dark blue hair which looked black at the first glance swayed amidst the dark and murky air behind him.

"Who sent you?" He flinched in his place hearing the sinister voice that sounded like the devil in legends that he heard.

Kaizer glared at the pest on the ground while trying his best to not lose his control. He wanted information before he crushed this pest.

After returning that day after meeting his bunny, he once again went near the rose castle to see her. He lurked around that place every day to at least catch a glimpse of her lovely face but she never came out.

After someday, his patience wore out and he teleported inside the rose castle and found out that she had left to lion castle to give birth.

Kaizer was surprised at the beginning but soon felt worried about her. So without wasting any more time, he rushed to the lion tribe to only catch an annoying bug sneaking inside the lion castle.

He noticed that the man was a witch master and guessed that he might be there for assisting his bunny but soon ruled out that possibility because the man started to manifest his powers and directed them in a certain direction.

Kaizer didn’t know what came to him, but right after that, he used his own powers to block the witch master’s power from entering.

Then he heard his bunny’s scream coming from the direction that the witch master directed his powers and felt numb.

Kaizer’s hands shuddered with dread as soon as he realized the witch master’s motive. The power he blocked from reaching Lyra was not small. It was enough to kill...he stopped thinking any further than that.

The fear that he felt changed into sheer anger the next second he realized the truth. He stepped towards the old witch master and slammed his head along the stone walls of the castle.

Debris fell due to the impact, but Kaizer teleported out of that place together with the unconscious witch master before anyone could find them. He also made sure to mask his powers, so that no one would be able to detect them.

And here he was.....staring down at the bastard who tried to harm his bunny.
