Chapter 145: Quelled

"I’m sorry, sweet girl" Lyra heard Victor’s sad voice and turned away from him.

"All of you please leave me alone for some time," She said and laid back on the bed.

"Sweet girl....." Victor felt his heart clench hearing her cold reply but he obediently got up from the bed and left the room. He didn’t want to upset her even more by staying by her side when she sternly said them to leave.

Killian gazed at his mate and kissed her cheek before getting up from the bed, "I’ll be right outside the door treasure. Call me if you start feeling any pain" He hoped that his healing powers would at least soothe her pain during the labor.

"Hmm" she replied softly and heard his footsteps leaving the room.

Demir too got up from the stone chair and stepped towards Lyra. Her back was facing him, so he just caressed her head and kissed it before leaving.

Now only Lyra and Lucas were remaining inside the room.

Lyra turned toward him and frowned noticing his forlorn face. He was like this from the moment he entered the room and Lyra couldn’t help but feel worried.

"Lucas?" She called him out while grabbing his hand, "Are you alright?"

Lyra waited for him to talk something but even after a long time, he just slowly shook his head.

Then he sat beside her and gazed at her face without saying anything.

Her heart clenched after seeing him like this. He was always talkative and cheerful and this silence felt unfamiliar to her.

She stretched her hands around his neck and embraced him, "Please talk something sweetheart. It hurts me to see you like this"

Lucas gulped an invisible knot in his throat as tears brimmed in his brilliant blue eyes. He wanted to talk to her but nothing came out of his mouth. When he heard about her going into early labor, he felt like his world ended right then and there. He raced out of the rose castle and finally breathed a relief only after looking at her alive and well.

As silver wolf and lion tribes are close to each other, he knew well about the complicated labor of the latter’s tribe. He even heard that Noah’s mother too almost lost her life during childbirth and that made him very scared for his mate.

He prayed every day to the moon goddess to keep his mate safe. His mate is his everything. His happiness and life depended on her presence and he didn’t want to change that fact even if someone asked to.

This was his choice and he did not want anything different. He smiled worriedly because he knew that his mate would not like him thinking like this. Lyra always said that he should always put himself first before someone else and he just agreed to it in front of her to keep her pleased but only he knew how much he relied on her.

His morning started with seeing her face and his entire day passed by thinking about her. Lucas wanted nothing else but his Ly.

"Lucas...?" She called him feeling distressed when he continued to keep silent.

"I-I’m fine" he replied while clearing his throat, "I was worried when I heard about you" he felt her grip tightening around him and smiled, "I’m really fine Ly"

Lyra pulled away from him and traced his sculpted jaw with her fingers, "Are you sure?"

He nodded and Lyra stopped asking more because she felt that he was really alright.

Then something flashed in her mind. She didn’t see Blake with them and parted her lips to ask Lucas about that but stopped herself at the last moment.

Lyra decided not to talk about Blake when she is with her other mates. They got too jealous and she didn’t want to hurt their feelings by bringing him up. After Victor and Killian’s mind control broke, she told herself to be as careful as possible with her other mates.

She couldn’t guess the source that manipulated them but was sure about the trigger that lead them to be controlled. Only then did she realize that her other mates were bothered about her love for Blake.

Lyra couldn’t help it, Blake is and always will be held first love and father of her first children. She was too comfortable with him that it made her other mates uncomfortable.

Lyra was still lost in her thoughts when she felt an intense pain in her stomach, "Ahhhh!"

Lucas was surprised by her scream and froze seeing her pale face.

He had seen her giving birth to the snake eggs but the look on her face now could not be compared to anything else. The only thing his mind processed was that his mate was in sheer agony.

"Sunshine!" He heard someone’s voice behind him but he couldn’t move from his place until Killian pulled him aside from Lyra’s side.

"Get a grip of yourself!" He felt Victor holding his shoulder but he continued to stare at his mate.

Everything happened too quickly as the lion queen and Lyra’s mother entered the room.

The lion queen noticed wetness under Lyra’s lower body and turned to Noah with urgency, "Boil some water and bring it here as soon as possible"

Noah nodded and left the room before casting a worried glance at his mate.

The queen then glanced at the men inside the room, "Are you guys not leaving?"

Victor nodded and dragged Lucas and Killian out of the room.

Demir clenched his fists and forced himself to turn around and leave.

Iria noticed her daughter’s pain-stricken face and felt her heartache. She sat beside her and held her daughter’s hand and frowned when she felt Lyra trembling.

"You have to relax Lyra.....take a deep breath, yes, just like that" she kept on encouraging, and Noah’s mother took out some pieces of clothes from the stone trunk inside the room.

"Ahhhhh! It hurts!" Demir almost ran back inside hearing her agony-filled scream.

"Is feeling this much pain even normal?" Killian asked no one in particular. He is her soulmate and if not directly, he could still sense the amount of distress his mate is feeling.

He turned towards Lucas, "You.....You were there when she gave birth to the snake eggs right? Was it the same even then?"

Lucas just stayed silent and blankly looked at the closed door.

Killian felt irritated not getting an answer, "Hey....!"

"Stop it, Killian!" Victor cut his words before he could continue, "Can’t you see that he is still in shock? Stop irritating him and leave him alone"

"What will take for you two to shut your mouths?" Demir said while glaring at them.

"Hey, I was just...." Victor stopped himself from talking any further. He realized that all of them were stressed out of their minds and were trying to put it out in their own ways either by shouting or staying silent. He sighed and decided to be the bigger person by not retorting.

As they were lost in their worlds, Darcio observed all of them from the sidelines and frowned.

’When sapphire obliterates the darkness inside six soul crystals will the blood eclipse arrive’ he suddenly remembered the prophecy proclaimed by the gem. Lyra was fated to erase their darkness but it seemed like she managed to only suppress it.

They behaved normally only in her presence and were losing themselves without her. Darcio couldn’t help but think about the consequences that would follow if something happens to the lady.

He first looked at the Vulture King and almost recoiled from his place. The vulture King looked calm amongst all of them but Darcio sensed the suppressed beast pressure and took a step back.

Then he glanced at the Lord of north and he shuddered in his place. Darcio just wished that Killian would not lose control of his powers for now.

The last one was his master. Darcio always knew that his master was formidable but it was the first time for him to see his master so absentminded. He secretly manifested his powers to block his master’s poison if it gets leaked.
