Chapter 113: Bad news

As soon as those words left her mouth, Lucas started to panic. He hurried towards her and started checking her for any injuries, "Did you get injured somewhere?"

Lyra held his hand and shook her head, "I just thought about getting examined. Now that I think about it, I have not seen a witch master or doctor in so long"

Lucas pursed his lips, "Stop lying"

She flinched hearing his stern voice. Lucas closed his eyes trying to calm down, "What is the matter, Ly?"

"I’ll tell after getting examined," said Lyra making him even angrier but he held back and went out of the room to bring the witch master.

Lyra felt her eyes sting with unshed tears. It was not like she didn’t want to inform him, but she was more scared about how he or others would react after knowing that she was poisoned with some unknown herbs. They would tear down the entire beast city in anger and somehow she inferred that Gregory wanted the same to happen. She looked at Noah’s figure on the bed and caressed her abdomen in worry.

Not long after that, Lucas returned with his tribe’s witch master. Lyra got up from her place and went out to not disturb Noah. As she walked out, she glanced at the second floor where Killian stayed. He must have been worried, she could guess that he had not yet been informed about her return from Kenna because he would have not stayed inside if he knew. She was glad, her mind was in shambles and now the most important thing for her was getting to know the condition of her babies. Thinking of babies, she remembered the little snakes who were currently living in the snake tribe.

She came out of her thoughts reaching her parents’ room. Theodore opened the door and was surprised to see them but soon let her in. Lyra hurried inside and burst into tears seeing her mother’s gentle smile.

Iria furrowed her brows and moved to hug her, "What is wrong baby?"

"Mo-mom" she choked up not able to control her emotions. Her father was alarmed, he turned towards Lucas with a questioning gaze. Lucas explained about her abduction and Theodore shouted at him, "Why didn’t anybody inform me about this!?"

"Because we didn’t want you to go out" answered Lucas. After seeing Killian’s resolution of staying back instead of finding Lyra, he understood that this was Gregory’s plan to bring either Theodore or his mate out of the rose castle.

Theodore exhaled loudly and turned towards Lyra. His mate was consoling her but it didn’t seem like his daughter would stop crying any soon, then he glanced at the witch master outside the door, "Who are you?"

"I brought him" Lucas responded. Then he looked at Lyra and his heart ached, he realized something had happened, "Ly...." he called softly and Lyra turned to him and nodded.

Lucas called the witch master inside as Lyra lay on the stone bed. The old witch master held Lyra’s wrist and assessed her pulse with narrowed eyes.

She repeatedly took deep breaths to calm down her nervousness. The witch master who previously announced her pregnancy looked at her but with a totally different expression from that day, "The pulse rate is slow.....and unsteady"

Lyra felt like her world shattered completely as she listened more to his words, "It is better to induce an abortion before it gets more complicated"

Iria covered her mouth with her hands and muffled a sob. Lucas looked at Lyra and wanted to approach her but halted when he heard her words.

"I don’t want to," she said resolutely biting her lips, "Th-there might be some other solution right?"

The witch master looked at her with pity. He used some of his powers to examine her but found some unusual complications in her womb, "Did you consume something odd these past days?"

"I did" she nodded, "I consumed some meat in a banquet and felt nauseous. I have never felt something like that during my last pregnancy so I think that something was in that meat"

"How much did you consume my lady?"

Lyra struggled to speak but said, "I-i spitted it out as soon as I had a bite and also rinsed my mouth with water"

He nodded and looked serious asking the next question, "Did you by any means fall unconscious after that?"

She nodded and the witch master closed his eyes. He massaged his wrinkled forehead and opened his eyes, "The poison must have been too potent my lady. Fortunately, you are fine because of pregnancy as the fetus absorbed all of it but I cannot promise your safety if you continue with this pregnancy"

Lyra’s eyes pooled with tears but she refused his suggestion, "I want to continue with this pregnancy"

"Ly...." Lucas said frowning and she looked at him as he continued, "Listen to me"

"No!" she screamed, "I don’t want to listen to anyone in this matter, they are my babies and I will decide whether to keep them or not, and I will never agree to get an abortion"

Back in his room, Killian heard her scream and got down from his bed. He summoned Kenna, "Did you find my mate?"

Kenna nodded, "She is on the ground floor"

"Why didn’t you inform me earlier!?"

"I forgot" answered Kenna and disappeared not in a mood to talk to its irate master.

Killian cursed under his breath and went down but froze in his steps when he saw his mate’s condition. She was sobbing loudly against her mother’s shoulders and Lucas was staring at the floor with a sullen look while Theodore was seething.

He entered inside, "What happened?"

Lyra looked up at him with bloodshot eyes but soon averted her gaze to her mother, "Tell everyone to leave me alone! Why can’t they leave me alone!?"

Killian was appalled seeing her outburst and wanted to go to her but Lucas shook his head and left the room with him leaving her with her parents.

"What is happening Lucas?" Killian asked as soon as they exited the room and closed the door.

Lucas gritted his teeth and explained to him everything about the food in the banquet and how it was poisoned. He looked at the witch master’s retracting back as he exited out of the castle and said, "The witch master said that the only solution for this is removing the fetus, and it might harm Ly if it is prolonged"

Killian frowned, "And she doesn’t want to do abort the child?"

Lucas nodded his head, "She is adamant about keeping the child and I don’t know what to do in this situation"

"Let us wait until Noah wakes up," Killian said, "We don’t have any right regarding this matter, He and Lyra should decide after he gains consciousness"

"And what if they decide to continue with the pregnancy?"

"We will have to make sure to not let it happen,"

In the beast world, their mate came first before offsprings and all of them would always put their mate’s safety even if it was their own children in this circumstance.
