Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 96: The Prophecy
Chapter 96: The Prophecy
THIRD PERSON’S POV
"Do you think this is going to solve anything?" Dylan walked to his father’s cabin.
Jonathan, who was talking to Mason, looked at his friend, who understood the signal and walked out of the room meticulously.
Jonathan closed the cap of the pen he was using before placing it in the pen holder and closing his file.
He placed the file on the side with a sigh. He knew what his son wanted to know the answer to. It was something he had been thinking about ever since he found out about it.
Dylan waited for his father to finally address him. As anxious and urgent as he was feeling, he wanted his father to initiate the conversation, to tell him he found the solution to their problems and they were going to execute it soon.
However, when Jonathan didn’t say anything even after ten minutes passed, Dylan couldn’t take it anymore and took the seat in front of his father.
"Dad, not talking about it isn’t going to solve our problems. Things have been going downhill ever since she met the alpha. Why are you allowing her to stay there? Earlier it was only about bows and arrows and now that bird. What are the chances that the bird is that ancient bird about which the records have been made?" Dylan asked.
Jonathan finally focused his gaze and looked at his son.
"If that had been the case, Valencia had told something about it, or at least just hinted at it? Maybe it’s just a normal bird and we are thinking too much into things. History isn’t repeating itself," Jonathan said.
Dylan smacked his lips as he played with the paperweight on the table, shaking his head.
"Dad, I know you want to look at things positively but is it really the time to be positive about everything? Does this make any sense? Everything is happening right at the time when he is nearing his time," Dylan said before he walked to the shelf where his notebook was.
He flipped a few pages before showing his father the sentence he had written from that ancient prophecy book before it disappeared as if it was never there.
Dylan pointed to the particular sentence at the bottom of the page.
"According to prophecy, almost everything is appearing just like that witch had warned us. Arrows that shoot from the moon? She has learned how to use a bow and arrow already. And if that bird is an ancient bird, won’t it be akin to shooting from the moon? What does it say?" Dylan said.
Jonathan took a deep breath and looked at the prophecy that wasn’t even allowed to be said aloud.
"A drop of Elixir shall wake up the power of death, arrows shot from the moon shall thrive. The song of death is to be sung only once, a lullaby of sleep. Red river flows down the trails, stains of darkness tainting souls blue," Jonathan read the words, his fists clenching by his side.
"I know what you are trying to say, Dylan. As the council of the species, it’s our job to make sure this prophecy never comes true, but it doesn’t mean we can come in the path of destiny either. What would’ve been the best way to end the chances of this prophecy than killing Valencia and Alpha Maverick? We had the chance multiple times," Jonathan pressed his lips into a thin line before he snatched the paperweight from his son’s hand and placed it in its place.
Dylan sighed. He knew what his dad was talking about. But were they really that helpless?
He was about to ask his dad if they could call back Valencia to be able to keep a better look at her when Jonathan’s phone vibrated, making them look at each other when they noticed it was a call from none other than the royalty.
"Pick it," Jonathan gave the phone to Dylan, who looked at him with a contemplative gaze.
However, his dad was right. As the next council head, he needed to learn how to talk to royalty too.
"Hello?" Dylan said, his voice turning neutral immediately as he went into professional mode.
"Am I speaking to the council head?" The secretary of the royal Prince asked.
"This is his son. What is it?" Dylan asked and he heard some shuffling on the other side. The secretary was probably giving the phone to the prince or something like that.
"Hello, Dylan," The royal Prince said and Dylan took a deep breath.
"Respect to the royalty. How can we help you, Prince Ethan," Dylan said.
"I would like to have the number of the spy that has been dealing with the case we gave to you. It might be a bit out of place, but we would like to communicate to him directly," Prince Ethan said, his cold and neutral voice making it hard for them to decipher whether he was angry because of the lack of reports or what.
Dylan took a deep breath.
He wouldn’t have had any problem in sharing the spy’s details if it had been anyone else. But this was Valencia they were talking about and he didn’t want her to get directly involved with the royalty.
"We already informed the royal team that we will provide the details within two weeks. I don’t see the need to have the personal details of a spy. As you might know, sir, it’s quite confidential and puts the spy’s life at risk," Dylan tried to deny the royal Prince in the most polite way he could.
He thought the royal Prince would understand his dilemma but to his disappointment, he didn’t.
"I understand what you are talking about. However, we can assure you that no harm would come to his way because of -"
"It’s a girl," Dylan interrupted.
Jonathan glared at his son.
Does he not know that interrupting a royal while he is speaking is also considered a sin?
"A girl?" Prince Ethan asked, not at all minding Dylan’s interruption.
"Yes, Prince Ethan. It would’ve been easier for us to share the information if it was a man, but you can say that the girl is a little close to the council members and she only takes selected missions. Risking her life would take a heavy blow," Dylan still tried to keep his words as respectful as he could.
However, nothing worked. At the end of the conversation, he was left with no choice but to share the information of Valencia.
He shared all the false information apart from her number.
After ending the call, he dejectedly sent a message to Valencia that told her what was happening so that she would go along with their lies.
At the same time, in another place,
"So did you do it?" A man sat in the middle of the hall on the couch, his eyes closed while he was leaning back in his seat.
The woman who walked inside the hall after completing her task looked at the man before humming.
"Well, there was no reason to not do it. However, by the time I reached there, the blood had almost dried up. I had to scrape it from the surface," The woman said and the man sighed.
"Did it work in the end?" He asked as he took a sip of his drink.
"I don’t know. We will have to wait for the result. I have sent Naomi for the task. Let’s see what kind of outcome she brings in. By the way, I heard a new bird was seen flying on the horizon. We couldn’t get the exact location but it was near the Dark Callisto pack," The woman said.
The man paused in his actions and looked at the lady with raised brows.
"Bird?" He asked.
The woman nodded before she walked to some distance and took off the veil from the large blue glass on the wall.
She rubbed her palm on the glass vertically, then horizontally before clicking her fingers. She repeated this process three more times, and the man turned to look at the woman.
The blue glass suddenly glowed from deep within before it shone brightly.
The wall suddenly displayed a hazy picture of a university building and the woman smiled.
"We got some information at least. The girl is a student of some University and it shall be near the Dark Callisto pack," The woman said, looking at the man with hopeful eyes, hoping he would praise her for his work.
The man didn’t react. He just kept looking at the wall that displayed the University building, as if he was trying to decipher something before he sighed.
"We need more blood awakening to be able to decipher where this girl is. It was just our luck that I was in the area and smelt the energy glow in the blood," The man said and the woman sighed dejectedly before nodding.
"I will try to keep looking around to see if we can find the girl," She said as the wall went back to its original blue opaque color.
