Chapter 80: Dress shopping

VALENCIA’S POV

"Aiden, tell me, did you tell anyone we would be coming to this mall to shop for the dress?" I asked the man who was buying ice cream for me, and he briefly turned around before paying the vendor.

"No, why? Did you need someone else’s opinion? Should I call Tracy or Angela?" He asked as he stuffed his wallet in his pocket, handing me one of the cones.

I shook my head at him.

It wasn’t about that.

I don’t know if I was just going mad, but for some reason, my body and senses were telling me Shadow was here somewhere around me.

Or was my body and mind starting to yearn for his presence because that’s how much he has affected us?

My life has always been eventful, no lies. However, it is like his presence has made it even more adventurous. I can’t predict what will happen with us, with me, tomorrow or even today. He has added an unpredictable factor to my life.

’And you have started to look forward to those moments with him. Isn’t that exactly what is stopping you from using him to enter the pack and do what the royals want?’ Auroras asked me, and this time, I didn’t rebuke her words.

Because probably that was the truth.

"Hey, what are you thinking about? Your ice cream is melting," Aiden said as we walked further towards the Unisex shopping center where we could find both of our outfits.

It was the biggest in the area.

"What can I show you?" The saleswoman immediately walked towards us, and Aiden gave her the instructions while I looked around at all the pretty dresses that I could afford but didn’t have the heart to spend so much on.

"This way, miss," The lady led me towards the changing room before showing me some of the gowns.

"Aiden, what color do you think I should choose from?" I looked at the guy who shrugged.

"You can choose whatever you feel like. I will adjust according to your preference," Aiden said, making my heart skip a beat at his unadulterated expression.

"And what if I choose baby pink?" I mused.

"Then I would love to see you in that color. I don’t think my masculinity is at the mercy of the color of the handkerchief I am carrying," Aiden said and I rolled my eyes.

Wasn’t he too confident?

"Are you trying to flirt with me?"

"Well, is it working?" He grinned back.

I was about to tell him to knock it off when the saleswoman interrupted us.

"You make such a cute and lovely couple. Huh, young love surely makes you envious. You don’t need to worry about anything, I have the perfect suggestions for you," The lady said.

I smiled at her, not correcting her because I was sure Aiden would act childish again just like the last time he did, and I didn’t want that.

The last time someone called us a couple and I straightway denied it, he said I hurt his man pride, and because of that he held my little finger like a baby, not leaving and acting like a child to embarrass me in return.

And I must tell you, though he is a tough gang member, he can surely act as a spoiled brat when it’s needed.

"Let’s go," I said to the lady.

"Is everything okay?" I gazed at Aiden when he didn’t follow me.

"Yeah, dad is calling me. Probably to ask me when I will be there. Let me take this call real quick," Aiden said, and I nodded at him before turning towards the changing room.

As soon as I did that, my gaze went to the men’s section. To say I was surprised would be an understatement.

Shadow was there. I wasn’t imagining his presence. He was also here to shop.

Was it really a coincidence?

Not wanting to be caught, I quickly stepped ahead with the lady, out of the view and partition.

I could only hope that by the time I was done with my shopping, he would be done with his too, and leave the area because our next stop was the men’s section only.

"Miss, you can try these dresses. If you like any of them, it’s great. If not, I will bring a more recommended collection that will suit your body type. In the meantime, can I attend to another lady?" The saleswoman asked me, and I nodded at her.

I know these people work on commission, and I don’t think she needs to stay with me and waste her time while I am just changing.

"Go ahead. Just be near in case I need help with my dress," I told her before taking the five outfits from her hand.

Seeing the beige-coloured dress, I pressed my lips into a thin line before casting it aside.

I wasn’t really in the mood to dress in something light tonight. Innocence wasn’t exactly my trope, nor did I want to show it.

With a sigh, I pushed the changing room’s door and went inside.

The first dress I chose was the black shimmering one since I love the color black, but after trying it, I didn’t feel the vibes coming from it.

With a sigh, I hung the dress on the hanger again before trying the red dress.

’This looks nice. Let’s take this one. It makes us feel hot, sexy, and conservative at the same time,’ Aurora chimed in immediately with an excited voice, and I looked at my reflection.

She wasn’t lying. The red dress was indeed bringing out my curves, and though my little belly was protruding more, it didn’t look ugly.

It didn’t have a very deep cleavage and with only half of my back showing, hiding my birthmark, I think it was really nice with poet sleeves and a slitted skirt that ended at the middle of my thighs.

’Are you sure about it? There is this blue dress too that looks quite good and -’ I couldn’t complete my sentence when someone knocked on the door, and thinking it was Aiden, I unlocked the door.

"Have you found something- wow," The saleswoman widened her eyes as she looked at me, and I am sure she was exaggerating a little but it surely boosted my confidence.

"Mam, I don’t know if you have checked other dresses or not or if this is less pricey, but you should definitely take this dress. It’s my opinion as a woman and not the salesperson working on commission," The woman said.

"You think so? I guess I’ll be taking it. But let me try the other dresses too. Also, can you bring me more options in red?" I asked the saleswoman, who immediately nodded and left.

I closed the door and was about to take off the dress when someone knocked on the door again.

This saleswoman was quite quick on her foot. I sighed before unlocking the door.

However, I couldn’t even see who the person was when I was pushed back into the changing room.

"Who-" I started, but the person placed his hand on my mouth to stop me from speaking or screaming.

However, the familiar comforting scent that wafted through my senses, alerting me, and filling me with this excitement, was more than enough for me to know who it was.

"Shadow," I breathed heavily, raising my head to look into his hazel eyes.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, knowing all too well what kind of trouble his presence here could bring us.

"Admiring a beautiful woman," He said before he turned us around in a way that he was hugging me from behind, forcing me to look at us in the reflection of the mirror.

"At this point, I am just going to believe you are stalking me, Shadow. This is not a hidden place like some cafe’s back room or your cabin in the University.

The saleswoman would be here soon. What am I going to explain to her? What am I going to explain to Aiden? What is my teacher doing with me in the changing room?" I asked him, looking into his eyes through the reflection.

And though my voice was anxious and worried, my heart knew this anxiousness I was feeling bubbling inside my chest for a completely different reason.

"You don’t need to worry about anything at all. I will handle it. You don’t need to worry about anything when I am with you. All you need to do is look into my eyes and do exactly what your heart tells you to," Shadow whispered in my ears before he pulled out the wooden stick from my bun, making my hair fall on the side of my shoulders.

He gently sided my hair before inhaling my scent, sniffing my neck like a true predator.

And do you know what was the worst part? The worst part was that he wasn’t even hiding his desires for me. He was looking me dead in the eyes while doing all this.

And I? I wanted it.
