Chapter 79: Carl to rescue

VALENCIA’S POV

To say I was embarrassed would be an understatement.

I couldn’t even look into Shadow’s eyes after having a lewd dream about him like that. I knew my body was starting to desire Shadow’s presence and touch, but I had never thought it would be this severe.

So what happened was that, as soon as my lips tasted his blood, I blacked out immediately, and all the things I thought were happening were actually my dream.

Shadow didn’t know what to do in a situation like this and quickly evened my clothes before calling the manager who told him this wasn’t the first time I blacked out like this.

Yes, I have had episodes like this before too. And the most times it happens is when Aurora needs to shut my brain completely because she can’t transform.

Last time also, it was all because we smelt blood, quite a lot because a girl had fainted in front of me and accidentally hit her head on the corner of the table which resulted in a lot of blood.

The smell of blood immediately made Aurora want to transform, and since I was between humans and could not do it, she shut my brain and I fainted.

Everyone thinks that it’s all because I have a phobia of blood or something, but who will tell them that it’s all because blood makes me want to turn into a tiger and drink the blood that they wouldn’t like to offer to me?

"I am fine. Sorry for all this inconvenience," I whispered, my gaze meeting Shadow, whose eyes were telling me that he didn’t believe a word I said.

Well, I couldn’t care less about his beliefs. This was the only explanation he was getting for the time being.

"Valencia, you bunked the classes today. Was it because you were feeling unwell? If that was the case, why didn’t you tell me beforehand and come here to work? I told you that you youngsters need to take care of your health too," The manager scolded me.

"I am sorry," I said and he sighed.

"A sorry isn’t going to cut it only. Come with me. I will drop you at your home," The manager said.

I was about to deny his offer when Shadow stepped ahead.

"It’s okay, Mr. Manager. You don’t need to worry about that. Since she is my student and fainted in my presence, it’s my duty to ensure she is okay. I will have her checked at the hospital just in case she needs some vitamins or solutions in her system before taking her home," Shadow said, his words smooth enough for no one to suspect anything.

However, I didn’t want to be alone with Shadow alone.

It wasn’t like I was afraid of something or he would extort the truth about me. It was all because I didn’t feel like I was ready to be alone with him after the kind of dream I had.

"I can go -" I couldn’t even complete my sentence when I smelt him, and my pupils dilated.

He was here. Thank God.

"Sir, someone is here to meet Valencia. He says he is related to her guardian," Molly walked inside, and I breathed a sigh of relief.

"Related to the guardian? Send him in here," The manager said.

It wasn’t long before Carl walked inside the back room.

"Sweetheart, what am I hearing? You bunked-" he looked at Shadow before nodding at him.

"What are -" Carl started, but before he could ask anything about the alpha, he looked at the manager who was a human before clearing his throat.

"Carl," I extended my hand like a baby towards him, and he looked at me with quirked brows before smiling awkwardly.

"What happened here?" He asked no one in particular. The manager explained to him everything about how I bunked classes, came here, and then fainted.

He didn’t mention anything about how Shadow was my teacher and found me or anything related, and I furrowed my brows.

His words were greatly filtered. If I didn’t know any better, I would’ve really believed if someone told me Shadow was manipulating his thoughts or something.

"I have a call to make," Shadow walked out of the room, and I saw Shadow’s subordinate walking inside before he gave me some drinks.

"Here, this is on behalf of sir," He said.

"Has he left already?" I asked, white surprised that he would leave.

Wasn’t he being persistent in dropping me earlier? Maybe his alpha called him or something.

"So you fainted?" Carl asked as he helped me up, holding my drinks in his free hand.

I hummed vaguely.

"My brain thought it was a good idea to shut off," I whispered before I looked at him and asked him what he was doing here because he definitely didn’t say anything about coming.

He told me how he had gone to the University to talk about the leave that I asked him about because I wanted to ruin that engagement and he found out I was bunking classes.

Luckily, he met one of my friends who told him I might be here because I work here regularly, and that was how he came to check up on me.

"Now that I think about it, I think I did well coming here or you would’ve surely hidden this from me. Are you seriously not taking care of yourself? You do know it’s not good if your brain just shuts off like this, right?" Carl asked me, and I, who was busy thinking about that last mysterious gaze that Shadow used on me, hummed vaguely.

What was going on inside his head?

"I think you are uselessly worrying about things related to the Dark Callisto pack. Maybe you can proceed with your mission just fine. They seem friendly to you," Carl said, and I hummed.

He was right. They were friendly to me, especially a particular beta who was so friendly that he was trying to taste what I tasted like.

I coughed at my thoughts.

"Are you okay?" He asked and I smiled.

"Yeah. Actually, the beta is really nice. I will start my mission soon," I said before looking at the watch on my hand.

I had a prior appointment with Aiden too.
