Chapter 63: Ugly personality

VALENCIA’S POV

"Hey, you, what are you doing standing over there? I said bring me my cold coffee first thing," I heard someone talking harshly as soon as I entered the cafe outside our University.

No. I wasn’t bunking my lectures.

I was just craving the cold coffee of this shop because it’s one of the best in the area. And since it was a free lecture, I was like, why not?

With a scowl at the boy’s unruly behavior, I stood in the queue line since I didn’t want to sit.

"I am sorry, sir. We will attend to your request shortly," the waitress said, her soft voice catching my attention.

Wait. Where have I heard this voice before?

I turned to look at the girl, quirking my brows.

Wasn’t this Natalie from the science department? The scholarship student who won the Olympiad recently?

It was posted all over the socials of the University and on large banners inside the campus too.

"What would you like to have, Miss?" The lady asked.

"A cold coffee please," I placed the money on the counter before checking my phone for any new texts.

Strangely, that person with the private number hasn’t texted me since last night either. I thought he was the persistent kind, but I guess the cold shoulder made him give up quite early.

"Here, mam," the girl placed my order on the table beside me, and I smiled at her gratefully.

What can I say? I always make sure to smile after receiving something because I know how hard these things get since I work in a cafe myself.

I was about to grab my coffee but before I could ...

Someone grabbed my coffee.

"You, shithead. Just because you won some shitty ass contest, you think you are above us? How many times do I need to ask for my coffee? You have time for making things for others, but not for me, hmm? Are you looking down on me?" The boy, whom I was yet to see the face of, said before he took my cup and poured the contents over Natalie.

Right in front of me.

I heard collective gasps in the cafe as people watched what happened.

He used my coffee, the one I waited so long for!!

But that wasn’t the most important part.

I looked at the girl, who was standing there, ice cold coffee, dripping down her chin and blouse, making her a subject of everyone’s obscene stares.

"That was mine," I said calmly before raising my head, and the boy looked at me for a second before scoffing..

Without a second thought, I pulled my jacket off and placed it on Natalie’s shoulders to hide her soaked blouse from the public view.

"Shut up, b*tch. Stay out of it. What do you want? Money for it? Here, take it," The boy said before he pulled out his wallet, took out some bills, and threw them at my face.

I closed my eyes to control the anger that was starting to take over me now, heat creeping up my head.

First, he played with my food then he bullied an innocent person, and now he dares throw money on my face.

He surely has a death wish.

Raising my head, I looked the man straight in the eyes.

"I am sure you don’t go to our University because if you did, you would’ve known who I was," I said before looking at his friends, and judging from the expression that crossed one of their faces, I could see he finally understood who I was.

The boy scoffed at me before he took a long whiff of his cigarette and blew that smoke on my face.

I chuckled.

This wasn’t my fault now. I really tried to control it. However, if someone really wants to court death, who am I to stop them?

I saw some people start to record and I cracked the bones in my neck.

"What are you standing here for? For people to make more fun of you? Go get changed," I said to Natalie.

The girl nodded and was about to stare away when the boy in front of me held her hand.

"Where the hell do you think you are going, you b*tch! Do you think this hoe can protect you?" The guy asked, every word coming out of his mouth like a stinking reality of his ugly personality.

"Leave her hand," I said casually.

"Leave her hand? I am not doing it. Do whatever you want. Do you even know who my father is?" The guy asked, making me smirk.

So it wasn’t a regular bully trying to establish his reigns in the area. It was the typical rich brat who thinks he will be able to get away with just about anything because their father has money and power, the kind of power-hungry people I utterly despise.

"I am sure it’s not the god himself and that’s the only thing that matters," I scoffed, and when he didn’t move his hand away from her, I grabbed his hand before raising my hand, ready to slap the boy.

However, before I could react, I heard the distant sound of the bell of someone entering, and the next thing I knew, someone grabbed my hand and pulled me back before punching the boy square in the face.

I looked at the scene in front of me in horror.

"How dare you insult her?" The man in front of me roared.

"How. Dare. You?" Shadow punched the guy with every single word, and as much as I knew how wrong it was, I couldn’t help my heart that skipped a beat again because of how he rushed in to protect me without caring about anything.

As I was admiring him with my heart aching with a strange emotion bubbling in my chest, I realized something was the problem.

The people weren’t just recording, they were probably going live, and that’s how he got to know what was going on in here.

He was the beta of the most reputed pack, for god’s sake. What if his alpha gets angry at him? What if he punishes him? We weren’t allowed to beat humans casually.

Not to mention how he wasn’t just the beta of the pack. He was a teacher at the moment too.

I looked around, pressing my lips into a thin line.

Everyone was recording.

And Shadow wasn’t stopping.

Has he completely lost his mind?

"Shadow, what are you doing? You can’t intervene like this. I could’ve handled the matter just fine," I said to him.

"I know you could’ve handled it fine. But the main question is why was there a need to handle something like this in the first place?" Shadow snarled lowly, and I sighed.

"Stop thinking about it. You did enough damage," I said to him before pulling Shadow away from the man. This was surely the first time I saw Shadow getting angry like this.

What has gotten into him seriously?

I pulled Shadow away from the scene.

"You! How dare you!" The boy shouted before he raised the nearest vase and raised it in the air, ready to hit Shadow.

I widened my eyes and quickly pushed Shadow away.

Bam!

The ringing sound echoed in my head before I smelt the thick scent of blood, my vision started to blur immediately.

Probably that taste of blood in my mouth when I woke up was an indication that I was going to bleed today. I thought before darkness took over me.
