Chapter 354: Axile’s Crowning

THIRD PERSON’S POV

Axile paced in his room, feeling a little anxious as there were only a few minutes left before he would be called to the royal hall to meet the guests as the prince of the royal kingdom and would become the King of the werewolf kingdom.

He wanted to meet Valencia before proceeding to the royal hall to gain courage. Still, Alpha Maverick’s beta stopped him from entering the corridor they were staying in.

Axile understood they were doing it because they were unsure when Maverick’s beast wolf might become too protective and snap at the person entering. Though he had spent his life as the rogue head and was about to become the alpha king, he knew he wasn’t more powerful than the beast alpha.

"Sir, everything will be alright," Vincent said to his clearly anxious boss. Axile hummed.

After becoming the prince of the royal kingdom, he first asked his people if they would still like to follow him and become part of the royal soldiers.

Initially, the royal soldiers and his father opposed his decision. Still, after each of his members went through the lie detector machine, they readily agreed to have them there, not to mention how his team helped the royals take out the possible threat by sacrificing themselves and risking their lives by standing at the borders.

"Sir, the king has called for you," a maid knocked on the door. Axile nodded before looking at Vincent and Alok, who smiled at him encouragingly.

At the same time, Valencia turned to Maverick with a little nervous smile.

"Do I look okay?" she asked, and the man who had been admiring her from the bed nodded.

The girl couldn’t help but roll her eyes at his smug expression.

"If it weren’t for you, who gave me so many love bites, I wouldn’t have to change my designated dress at the last moment," Valencia said since Maverick had given her a little too many hickeys on her back.

She had decided to wear a red dress with half of its back exposed, but due to his actions, it was impossible to wear that one.

Luckily, Charlotte came to save the day and brought a royal green dress when Valencia complained about not feeling comfortable in the red one.

"Come on, baby. It’s not an event where they brought their kids, and those men and women out there, all of them indulge in this kind of activity," Maverick said, making Valencia sigh before she wore her earrings.

Looking at her reflection one last time, she placed her hand in Maverick’s extended one before following him out.

When they opened the door, they saw Liam, Lovely, and Charlotte looking at them anxiously.

"How are you feeling, Luna? Do you feel comfortable in this dress? You are not feeling dizzy or weak, right? Let us take you to the event hall," Liam said before he nudged Lovely, who immediately held Valencia’s other hand.

Why were they treating his wife like this? Were they trying to take her away from him? The thought made him scowl.

Valencia couldn’t help but chuckle at Maverick’s ashen face before tightening her hold on his arm.

"They know," Valencia whispered, and a realization dawned upon Maverick as he realized why they were acting so happy and cautious around her.

The thought of how much his pack members respected and loved Luna made him smile. He allowed them to take her to the hall as they wanted to, chuckling in between when he saw how they treated her like she was a baby.

"Valencia!" Jonathan and Dylan rushed to her when they saw her entering the hall. Liam pressed his lips into a thin line when Dylan stepped ahead to hug her.

However, he didn’t say anything since he was a family member, just scowling and visibly displeased.

"We heard what happened. How are you feeling? Has your wolf talked to you after your transformation? Is it still painful?" Jonathan asked.

Seeing genuine concern on their faces, Valencia smiled before shaking her head.

"It doesn’t hurt. She has talked to me and assured me that everything was fine, and I was able to survive this transformation because..." Valencia paused and looked at Maverick for confirmation.

Once the man nodded at her to let her know she could proceed with the news, she smiled and leaned towards Jonathan before whispering the words into his ears.

As Dylan stood by his side, he heard the words, and his eyes widened.

"You are—"

Valencia placed her hand over his mouth before he could say anything, and Dylan understood they were choosing to hide the information.

He nodded in understanding before hugging her again.

"Congratulations on finding your wolf, something you have wanted all your life," Dylan said, pulling her to the hall’s center with him.

Everyone in the hall looked at her respectfully as they heard about how she killed the fake prince Ethan and the rogue head of the southern region, Glacier, and found Alpha Maverick alone. They were proud of her.

"You are just like your mother. Strong, beautiful, and caring," One of the elder alphas walked to her, and Valencia bowed respectfully to him.

She was pleased as this was one of the biggest compliments she had received from anyone.

"Valencia," Axile walked to her before taking a deep breath.

"Will you please come on the stage to support me? You are the only one I know here," Axile said.

Valencia smiled at her words. As much as she wanted to support him, it wasn’t right for her to stand by his side on this occasion. It was his day, and she didn’t want to steal that limelight from him.

However, when Maverick urged her to go, and everyone nodded, she couldn’t help but nod in agreement.

"May I have your attention, please?" King David stood on the podium to grab everyone’s attention as the crowning ceremony started.

Everyone in the hall chatting and sharing pleasantries stopped and looked towards the podium to respect the King’s presence.

"As we all know, today we have gathered here at the royal palace on the occasion of the crowning ceremony of my real son, Prince Axile. It has been a tough life for my son. I didn’t know he was alive until a few days ago when he had been living as the rogue head of the northern regions. Yes, he is the same masked rogue head everyone had been wary of,"

King David said before pausing, waiting for everyone’s shock to die.

Everyone started hushing in whispers again, and Axile clenched his fists, not liking the attention.

Seeing his discomfort, Valencia placed her hand on his as they sat on the stage, and Axile smiled stiffly.

"I know all of you are shocked, but my son hasn’t done anything that I am ashamed of. In fact, I am proud of him for leading his life like a ruler, just like he was supposed to. Prince Ethan, as everyone knew him was my illegitimate son and the reason behind the historical rogue attack, the death of the former King, queen, and my wife, and I will never forgive him for that," David said.

After addressing a few more things regarding how happy he was, he finally looked at Valencia and expressed gratitude that she brought the truth to life even when it wasn’t related to her. It was only because of her that he could meet his son, and his son got his family back.

Valencia smiled at the King.

"It wouldn’t have been possible without the help of my mate, Alpha Maverick, who investigated all my doubts," Valencia added, making the man smile.

"Now, on the auspicious night of the full moon, I, David Matthews, the son of the moon goddess and the king of the werewolf kingdom, hereby announce the Prince Axile Vulture as the new King of the werewolf kingdom, thus commencing this ceremony," King David said before he walked to the maid who brought the crown and placed it on Axile’s head.

Everyone in the hall clapped for the man as he bowed to take the crown and the royal sword, which was like an heirloom to them.

As is customary, Axile walked to the podium to address everyone, and he couldn’t help but smile in joy.

"I have no words to express my happiness after finding my true family. I would like to thank my father, my sister, who chose to trust me, Valencia, and Alpha Maverick, who turned an orphan like me back into a royal prince and now a King." Axile smiled at Valencia before nodding at Maverick, who nodded back in response.

"To express my gratitude to the couple, I would like to announce them as the chief advisor of my kingdom," Axile said, his words surprising Valencia since they hadn’t decided anything on it.

"Axile, this is too much," Valencia stood, but the man shook his head.

"You guys deserve every respect I can give you," he said, and Valencia couldn’t help but smile.
