THIRD PERSON’S POV

Maverick sat inside Valencia’s room, her soft expression as she looked peaceful in her sleep, making him sigh.

When they had brought Valencia inside the royal palace around three hours ago, she had magically turned into her human form, making it easier for him to carry her from the truck to the room she was currently in.

The doctor came and checked up on her wounds before asking him to take care of her even more in this condition.

Maverick knew that she was wounded and needed extra care, but something about the doctor’s words left him suspicious.

He was speaking as if something was wrong with his mate.

Could it be that due to overexertion, her life and health were in danger? Even the thought was enough for him to go haywire.

He sat beside her, holding her hand between his hands, hoping for her to wake up soon as his anxious heart and wolf weren’t taking her unconscious state nicely.

"Alpha Maverick, why don’t you go and get your wounds treated? It’s been three hours. You have silver and Wolfsbane in your system, which will only affect you more." Shadow didn’t dare come inside and talk from outside the door.

Maverick kept looking at Valencia’s face.

How could he leave her room when she needed him to stay calm?

"If you want, shall I send the doctor to treat you here? This way, you won’t have to leave the room," Shadow said.

Since his alpha didn’t say anything this time, rather than lashing out at him like earlier, Shadow breathed a sigh of relief and sent the doctor inside.

The doctor checked the alpha with his hand, still grabbing Valencia’s, before giving him two pills that would help him neutralize the poison in his team.

As soon as the doctor left, Maverick pulled himself close to Valencia again. He was about to move forward and place his head on the bed when he felt their presence.

The mainland witches appeared along with Angel Kelly and Alisha.

"Alpha Maverick," they looked at the alpha before looking at Valencia.

"How is she doing? You can easily tell me about it by looking at her, right? Is she alright? Is her health alright? She transformed earlier, and you said Aurora had never survived any transformations. Why is she not opening her eyes?" Maverick asked one after the other.

Angel Alisha stepped ahead and placed her hands on Valencia’s body to see if the girl was alright and why she was unconscious.

However, as soon as she felt the reason for it, her heart skipped a beat.

So, that was the reason Aurora voluntarily lost her control and allowed the transformation? She was confident that she could make it out alive.

A smile appeared on Alisha’s face, and she sighed.

"She is alright. She will be awake soon. I have helped her with some of my energy," Alisha lied, not wanting the man to worry more.

Maverick hummed before focusing his gaze back on the girl.

The mainland witches were about to ask him about the specifics of what happened when Alisha looked at them and shook her head.

The indication was clear. They didn’t need to disturb the couple anymore.

The witches and angels left once they ensured everything was alright with Aurora.

They were tempted to talk to Aurora, which would be much easier after her transformation. However, they didn’t want to tell Maverick what Valencia wanted to tell him herself; that was what Valencia’s last memories said.

As soon as Alisha and the other witches appeared on the hill of a random mountain, she turned to the witches, who had a lot of questions for them.

"It’s true. Valencia survived the transformation, and this strengthens our belief that she is the one who could kill the devil even more," Alisha said.

The witches nodded before Mrinalini asked her doubt.

"Is it because of the curse? None of Aurora’s humans in her past life could bear the transformation. What made Valencia powerful enough to bear it?" She asked.

Her question made the other witches, and Kelly look at Alisha for answers, and the angel sighed.

"It indeed is related to the curse. Her transformation was delayed for nearly ten months because of her feline transformations, which gave Aurora even more time to adapt to her since the right age for the transformation of such powerful wolves is usually either early age or eighteen. But there is something that helped her even more," Alisha said.

She raised her hand, and a translucent screen appeared in the air.

Everyone watched in surprise as Alisha showed them the abdomen part of Valencia so they could guess what was happening.

"Wait...is that..." Kelly was the first to decipher, and Alisha nodded.

"Valencia is pregnant. Since she is pregnant and has one more life inside her, they channeled her energy well and saved her from the heavy blow," Alisha explained.

Kelly smiled in realization. It was amazing how it is usually the parents who save their kids at this early age, but it was Valencia’s child who became a shield for her and protected her from the death that was awaiting her.

Everyone watched with a smile before Miranda broke the silence.

"If she is pregnant, then according to the curse, is she ready to kill the devil?" Miranda asked.

Alisha sighed.

The messenger of the moon goddess had told them that no entity is more powerful than a mother who wants to save her child.

Was Valencia indeed ready to kill the devil? Alisha herself didn’t know the answer to that question.

"What are you thinking about Alisha? You haven’t forgotten about the prophecy, have you?" Kelly asked.

Alisha looked at her subordinate angel and sighed.

A drop of Elixir shall wake up the power of death, and arrows shot from the moon shall thrive. The song of death is to be sung only once, a lullaby of sleep. A red river flows down the trails, stains of darkness tainting souls blue.

How could she forget the prophecy, something she had been chanting and reading for the past nineteen years since the news of the cursed child being reborn was given to them by the messenger of the moon goddess?

"It’s time indeed. Maybe that’s why things are falling into place one by one. However, we are completely helpless over the course of time. Let’s not dwell on it and focus more on how to stop the devil from increasing his army," Alisha said.

At the same time, in the royal palace, Valencia, who had been unconscious for so long, finally started to move in her place, her slight movement awakening Maverick, who had closed his eyes by her side.

"Valencia, baby, are you awake?" Maverick cupped her cheeks, hoping she would open her eyes and he would look into those familiar grayish-blue pairs of eyes that he fell in love with.

He didn’t know how much Valencia would remember, so he was excited to tell her how happy he was that she was his mate.

Valencia opened her eyes softly, the gaze meeting Maverick’s brown ones, and her brows furrowed in confusion.

However, her confusion didn’t last long, as the memories from Aurora’s side crashed into her mind. She saw everything that happened after she left the royal palace when she was consumed by anger, and her powers started to take over.

"Hubby," Valencia whispered with a smile.

She raised her hand, wincing slightly before placing it on Maverick’s cheeks, making the man’s heart skip.

"Your mate," Maverick said.

"My mate," Valencia whispered, and the man nodded in excitement.

Maverick was beyond joyful and happy, but what Valencia said next made him freeze in place, and he forgot how to react for a second.

"The father of my child," Valencia whispered.

"Yes, the father of your —" Maverick paused.

Why did Valencia mention it out of nowhere?

She scolded him last time and told him not to mention kids until it was true because she didn’t want to jinx it by imagining all those things.

He looked at Valencia with wide eyes.

"W-what do you mean?" Maverick asked, and Valencia raised herself to place her forehead on his.

"You are going to be a father soon, Alpha Maverick. I am pregnant," Valencia whispered, and Maverick pulled away, looking at her with wide eyes while Reaper stood from his place, equally shocked.
