Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 343: Why did she faint?
Chapter 343: Why did she faint?
THIRD PERSON’S POV
"Must you train today too, Luna?" Liam asked Valencia as he saw her running her tenth lap around the pack.
She was sweating profusely and looked like she could barely stand, but the girl didn’t stop and left with no choice; he followed her.
"Why not today?" Valencia asked.
"Well, I thought you would be preparing yourself for the royal invitation. I mean, don’t ladies take more time getting ready?" Liam asked, blushing at his own words.
Valencia slowed her running speed and looked at Liam with an amused expression.
"Why would I take more time and effort in getting ready? The man I want to seduce is already smitten with me," She said, and Liam chuckled at her words.
After training for two hours, Valencia took a quick bath and wore a simple sundress since they were going to travel, and the event was near, which would give them enough time to get ready only at the royal premises.
Since Axile was handling her safety and related matters, she wasn’t concerned about people trying to pry into her privacy this time.
"Where is Alpha Maverick?" Valencia asked Liam when she didn’t see him coming as they were ready to leave for the royal palace.
Heck, she hasn’t seen him for quite some time.
He has been barely home in the past two days, always communicating with her using the mind link.
She knew something was going on, but since Maverick told her to focus on rest and training, she didn’t think much about it.
"I received a message from the alpha, Luna. He said he would meet us directly at the royal palace. He got some intel on the rogues of the southern regions and will lead a team there to ensure the safety of the royal palace from the Southern regions," Liam said.
Valencia narrowed my brows at him, and he raised his hands in surrender.
"That’s all I know. There is no threat, or that I know of, I promise," Liam said, and Valencia sighed before sitting inside the car with Lovely and Charlotte, who was accompanying her to the royal palace.
Valencia looked at her hands, where her skin was developing small cracks from God knows where.
It had been like this for two days, and it was quite confusing. She tried contacting Alina to find out what this was all about, but she couldn’t reach the witch.
Valencia leaned her head on the window sill to relax and sleep until they reached the royal palace. That was her reason when, honestly, she was feeling weirdly dizzy.
She felt it was probably linked to the cracks on her skin. Not wanting her people to worry about her, she didn’t say anything and thought it was better to rest and let the fatigue pass away.
After a few hours, they finally reached the city of the royal palace.
Valencia furrowed her brows when the cars stopped, and she looked at the people who stepped out inquisitively.
They had stopped an hour ago, so taking a break was unnecessary.
"What’s the matter?" She asked.
Lovely leaned on the window with a helpless smile.
"It’s the border security, Luna. They are checking the documents," Lovely mentioned.
Valencia was about to close her eyes when Liam walked to her side.
"Luna, I am sorry, but the security is not agreeing to –"
"Should I step out?" Valencia asked.
Luna nodded helplessly.
Valencia didn’t mind it. It was the protocol, and she was satisfied with this safety. It ensured the safety of those people who would be entering the royal palace along with the prince.
It was better to check everyone’s legality.
Valencia walked to the security guard, her gaze hard.
"Valencia Phoenix, Alpha Maverick’s woman," Valencia said, making the security look up from the documents.
As soon as they looked at Valencia, their eyes widened, and they quickly pulled out their phones to match her with the photo they had been provided.
The security chief quickly got on his knees as if realizing their mistake.
"I am sorry, Luna Valencia. It was my fault to make you come here. I should’ve come there to check myself. The prince strictly told us not to let any inconvenience come our way, and we forgot." The chief security started pleading for forgiveness, not wanting to be in the new prince’s bad books already.
Valencia sighed.
"You did nothing wrong. I am quite satisfied with your work. Don’t worry. You have nothing to—" The rest of Valencia’s words stuck in her throat as she felt her head going dizzy.
Her vision started to blur, and she extended her hand to grab the nearest thing to support herself.
However, since she was standing close to nothing, she grabbed empty air and stumbled to the side.
As soon as Liam saw Valencia’s stumbling form, he dashed forward.
"Luna!" He shouted, his loud voice catching everyone’s attention.
Lovely was the first to run forward to check up on Luna, while the security chief, who had felt scared of the bones earlier, felt sweat beads forming on his forehead. After all, everything was happening under his jurisdiction.
"Liam, what’s happening? Why is she not opening her eyes?" Lovely’s concerned voice broke the silence, and Liam gritted his teeth.
It was all his fault. His alpha had entrusted Luna’s safety to him, but he failed. She wouldn’t have fallen unconscious if he had stopped his Luna from training so profusely.
"Why is she sweating like this? There is a hospital nearby. I think we should rush her there," The security chief said.
Liam immediately nodded and, accompanied by the security chief, went to the hospital to find out what was wrong with Luna.
On their way, Liam kept looking in the back seat where Valencia was lying in Lovely’s lap, her forehead covered in sweat beads.
She looked uncomfortable to the core.
"I won’t be able to forgive myself if anything happens to her," Liam muttered under his breath.
Seeing his distressed form, Lovely placed her hand on his shoulders and squeezed it comfortingly.
"Nothing will happen to her. We all know how strong our Luna is," She said before hesitating.
"Should we call Alpha Maverick," her question hung in the air.
"Let’s call him once we are at the hospital so we can tell him what’s exactly wrong; without a proper explanation, he will worry himself," Liam reasoned, and Lovely nodded.
The security chief had already called the hospital, and the best doctors were already on standby to attend Valencia.
The others were stopped outside as soon as she was taken to the emergency room.
Liam and Lovely grew anxious while Charlotte paced around the corridor.
"She had been training atrociously more these days,"
"Could it be that it’s her blood pressure? Though we werewolves rarely feel such things, she has yet to find her wolf and show more human-like features. So maybe she has outworked herself?" Charlotte asked.
"Let’s hope that’s the case," Liam murmured under his breath, nipping at his nails.
Lovely felt equally anxious.
"I have brought the flowers sent by the council with us. Should I go inside and feed her? It always calms her," Lovely said.
"That flower calms her, Lovely. She isn’t going haywire. She is unconscious," Liam said, ruffling his hair.
Inside the ward, Valencia, who had fallen unconscious, jolted awake as soon as the doctor started touching her abdomen.
Her survival instincts made her grab the doctor’s hand, who wasn’t wearing his coat, as she looked at him with a murderous glint in her eyes.
"Who are you? What are you doing to me? What am I doing here?" Valencia shot her questions one after the other.
The doctor, who had frozen earlier, looked at her with a calming smile.
"You don’t need to be on guard, Miss. I am a doctor. You are in a hospital. You had fainted earlier, and your family brought you here for the checkup, " the doctor said.
After he said that the previous events rushed to Valencia’s head, and she noticed her surroundings.
The room was filled with medical equipment, and if that didn’t dissipate her doubts, the arrival of a female doctor in a lab coat eased her tension.
As Aurora didn’t feel discomfort from them, Valencia knew they weren’t bad people and relaxed visibly.
"So, what’s wrong with me? Were you able to find anything?" Valencia asked, curious.
She wasn’t questioning their ability; rather, in her cursed form, she was unsure if a normal doctor could tell what was wrong with her since everything related to her could only be seen by witches.
"Well, we didn’t find anything wrong with you," The doctor said.
Valencia sighed.
Just like she had thought, she thought inwardly.
"Rather, we found out what is right with you," the doctor said.
Valencia furrowed her brows.
"Hmm?" She asked.
"Congratulations on your pregnancy, Miss," The doctor said.
