Chapter 328: Attack on royals

THIRD PERSON’S POV

Valencia’s heart drummed against her chest as she saw Maverick in his wolf form, his large form seething as he bared his teeth at Prince Ethan.

Anyone in their right mind would know not to cross Alpha Maverick, especially when he was standing protectively before his woman.

Since Axile was standing beside Valencia only a few centimeters away when Ethan tried to attack Axile, Maverick’s wolf immediately saw it as a direct threat to their woman. Without thinking twice, he pushed forward.

"Reaper," Valencia murmured, catching the wolf’s attention.

Reaper looked at his woman from the corner of his eyes, not letting Ethan out of his sight in case he tried something else.

"I am fine. You don’t need to be angry," Valencia whispered to him in case he became too protective and unleashed his beast side.

Prince Ethan gritted his teeth. However, the resolution in his eyes didn’t die. This was his throne and his palace. He worked all his life for it, and his mother gave up her life for it. He won’t let these people snatch it away from him.

Since he was thrown to the left side and Dilbar was standing nearest to him, he didn’t waste a second lunging at Dilbar when Maverick’s wolf looked at Valencia to ensure she was okay.

"Dad!" Dilbar shrieked.

Everyone’s gaze turned to Prince Ethan, who looked at the people in the palace with a maniacal expression.

"Did you think I would let go of the throne I worked so hard for so easily? You have got to choose, King David. Either you hand over the kingdom to me, or I’ll kill your precious daughter," Ethan said.

Dilbar, who still had some doubt left about whether what Mr Han was saying was true, pressed her lips into a thin line in fear as Ethan pushed the tip of the dagger into her skin.

"You will regret this, Ethan," King David said.

Ethan scoffed.

"Let’s see who will regret it. If you don’t hand over the kingdom and throne to me, I won’t think twice before slicing this throat," Ethan said.

King David stood there helplessly. It would take him 5 seconds to reach Dilbar and save her; it would only take one second for Ethan to slice her throat and kill her.

He already lost his brother, sister-in-law, his wife, and almost his son; he didn’t want to lose his daughter to this.

Axile furrowed his brows when he saw the tears in Dilbar’s eyes.

"Brother Ethan, why are you doing this? I always took your side and thought about your betterment. Even now, I was on your side. How can you point a dagger at my neck?" Dilbar asked, her voice full of sadness as her heart broke.

She had loved him wholeheartedly as her family. Who would’ve known he wouldn’t think twice before making her a pawn?

"Oh, naive Dilbar, who are you trying to fool? Did you really love me? The only reason you wanted to be in my good books is so that I can help you cover your shit," Ethan scoffed before grabbing her throat and forcing her to look into his eyes.

"The way you have a habit of having fun with male escorts and females from your father for so long," Ethan said, and Dilbar widened her eyes as her dirty laundry was displayed before everyone.

Valencia looked at Axile, who seemed to digest everything slowly, and sighed, not knowing what to do.

She felt a little dizzy suddenly as the scent of blood wafted through her nostrils, and her eyes sharpened, her gaze falling on the tiny blood that was trickling down Dilbar’s throat.

Maverick, who felt the sudden change in Valencia’s demeanor, looked at her with raised brows.

He didn’t want her powers to take over her because of her hunger for blood, and he was about to rush to push Ethan away, who was drawing more blood and making things hard for Valencia, when out of nowhere, they heard the sound of a bullet shot echoing.

Around 40 men rushed inside the palace with weapons, and seeing how their swords and daggers were pointed at them, it wasn’t hard to decipher what was going on.

The scent of the blood that had been making Valencia anxious wasn’t just coming from that couple of drops of Dilbar’s blood; instead, it was because of the bloodbath that happened outside the palace.

"You!" King David seethed through his teeth when he realized what happened.

Ethan had always been ready for the day when David would betray him.

Therefore, he had already arranged for his men to stay close to the palace. He also funded their finances regarding illegal things like scent-hiding sprays so they could blend easily.

"Aren’t you surprised that I was so well prepared? Don’t you think I deserve the throne with this kind of preparation?" Ethan asked smugly while blood drained from Dilbar’s face as he choked her more, making it hard for her to breathe.

"What are you guys waiting for? Attack!" Ethan shouted, and a massive fight broke out in the palace.

When the soldiers from the backyard returned from the patrol, some rushed inside the palace to save their king, but they were vastly outnumbered even after that.

As everyone started fighting, Valencia chuckled.

She didn’t know why she was feeling like it, but laughter broke from her mouth as she took in the intoxicating scent of blood around her.

She raised her head, her eyes closed as she took deep breaths to inhale as much as possible.

Reaper, who started shedding the rogues who invaded the palace along with Axile, turned to look at his woman.

He saw one of the rogues sneaking near her to attack and was about to rush there to save her when he saw her swiftly pull out a dagger and hit the rogue straight in the middle of his throat without even opening her eyes.

’There is just so much Aurora can handle. The more she is exposed to blood and fights, the more her power will push forward to take over,’ Alina’s words echo in Maverick’s head, and his heart trembles at what is happening.

"Shadow! Take your Luna away," Maverick shouted, and Shadow, who had been fighting a rogue, killed the man before returning to his position beside Valencia.

The man was about to call Valencia to get her attention when she suddenly opened her eyes, and he staggered backward.

Valencia’s otherwise greyish-blue eyes were hazel. Slowly, they were turning golden as she looked at him with her head tilted.

This was the first time Shadow had seen Valencia in this form, and though there was no other change than the color of her irises, Shadow couldn’t help but retreat in pure, carnal fear.

"Take away, who?" Valencia asked, her voice holding a depth of agony and promised death that Shadow’s wolf whimpered at once, forcing the man to step back.

"I am sorry, alpha," Shadow fell to his knees as Valencia’s powers forced him to submit to her as she moved her hand through her hair.

Axile turned to his left where Valencia was standing and raised his brows.

He noticed that no matter how many rogues there were and how they had arrived to attack the royalty, they still didn’t dare approach Valencia.

It was the same with all the wolves. They were forcing their human counterpart to stay away from the girl, who looked like some ghost of death possessed her.

Seeing more rogues arriving, David gritted his teeth as he plunged his sword into the chest of the man fighting him. His disgust and anger with himself and that bastard increased with each passing second.

"Rrrrrr!" Maverick let out a loud growl, and the rogues froze as they saw his form enlarging further.

Everyone paused what they were doing as they saw Reaper taking an impossible size, even mythologically.

He was already the most enormous wolf on the planet, and with his beast form...

Reaper growled in pure agony. It was his fault his woman was suffering again. She didn’t want to come here, but he forced her to deal with this today, and things like this happened.

Like a killing machine, he started shredding the rogue limb by limb to end this quickly so he could reach and calm his woman.

Ethan saw how the people basking in his miseries were suffering and chuckled.

"You guys underestimated me," Ethan commented as they saw more rogues entering the palace.

David snarled when one of the rogues almost scratched his chest, and Axile, who had just fought the rogues earlier, finally felt a tug at his heart.

He stood there for a few seconds before he took a deep breath and snarled.

Valencia’s attention moved to him briefly before it went to Maverick, who tried to control her feelings and thoughts with his soothing words.

’You got this, baby. Just a couple more minutes and I will make it right,’ Maverick said through the mind link, and Valencia’s eyes started turning back to their original greyish-blue color, making him sigh in relief.

"You are doing great," Aurora told Valencia, and the latter took a deep breath before smiling.

However, the smile faltered immediately when they heard the loud snarls of many rogues entering the palace.

This was turning bad, for sure.
