Chapter 326: The truth revealed

THIRD PERSON’S POV

Mr. Han told everyone what happened that night.

It was almost evening when he had gone to the market area to retrieve some meds for the former queen because she felt uneasy.

Like everyone in the royal kingdom in the hierarchy with one or two special abilities, King Desmond could tell when a person was lying or telling the truth.

Since Queen Juliet was his mate, she could tell when something bad or big was about to happen.

Her instincts were atrociously correct most of the time.

That day, the queen complained about feeling uneasy and that something bad was about to happen.

The king asked the security to check twice to ensure everything was right, and he thought it was just her taking stress since she was pregnant, so he ignored her words.

That was probably because Destiny was supposed to bring their fates to an end, or why did the person who never took her words lightly ignore them?

When he had gone to the market, he felt something was off about his surroundings.

Everything felt too easygoing.

At that time, he saw a crowd gathering at a distance and walked to see what was happening.

He saw a man being beaten black and blue because he stole from someone’s house.

Mr Han wanted to avoid interrupting people’s daily life matters since they would come to them if it were something big.

He was about to turn around and leave when he saw someone wearing a black shawl on the other side of the crowd.

His movements were suspicious, and as soon as he looked at Mr Han, he turned around and left.

Mr Han once again felt something was wrong and followed the man.

He followed the man for twenty straight minutes before losing sight of him.

He lost him because he bumped into someone and lost his balance before falling.

By the time he looked up, the man was gone. He had come quite far from the royal Kingdom and its affiliated market.

After looking around for a while, he couldn’t find the man anymore and knew his chase had been futile. He was about to leave the area since he needed to deliver the medicines when he saw some commotion in the warehouse nearby.

He walked to the warehouse, keeping his movements minimal.

"So? Has it been done?" One of the men asked.

Han noticed that the person with the shawl was one of the members.

In the middle of so many men was a lady with a child by her side.

"When will it start?" She asked.

Han furrowed his brows, unsure what was being talked about.

"Well, according to our intel, the food had already been poisoned with the drugs that will stop their ability to mind-link their people. We will start in a couple of minutes. Our people are already there. We just need to watch and hear the pleasurable sounds of their lives ruined," One of the men said.

Han raised his brows.

Whoever these groups of people were targeting, it wasn’t good.

How could they use such poisons openly? He was about to confront them when he heard the other man say something that made him freeze completely.

"The royals wouldn’t even know what hit them, and by the time they understand what is going on, everything would be long gone," he said.

Han froze.

As soon as he heard that the attack was being planned on royals, his first instinct was to mind-link his King and tell them what was happening, but he couldn’t reach him.

Maybe it was because he was quite far from the place; he needed help to contact his king.

"Leave David and his family as we had decided. Take his son away, though. Only after he is gone will my son have a chance to get to the throne," The lady said.

"Are you sure you don’t want him killed for what he did to you?" The man asked.

The lady laughed coldly.

"No. What will be worse for him will be the death of his brother and the loss of his son. Then he will have to take my son because his wife will turn insane at the loss of her only son, and when my son grows up, he will pave the way for all of us. His entire family will pay for his sins," The lady said.

Han finally understood what was going on.

It looked like their king’s younger brother had an affair with this lady that resulted in the birth of the kid beside her, and now she was here to avenge what he did.

It was cruel, what she had in mind.

If she wanted justice, she could have gone to the king, and he was sure their king would have come up with a fitting solution.

However, now that she had come this far, there was no going back. The damage was already starting.

Han immediately turned around and left.

He needed to tell the king what was going on, so he searched his pockets for the phone, only to realize that he had lost it on his way when he was following that man.

Realization dawned upon him. Someone stole his phone.

He was about to turn to one of the passersby to ask for the phone so he could warn his king when the loud sound of the explosion echoed.

Han looked at the royal palace from where the smoke was emitting, and his insides churned at the thought of his king being hurt. After all, he raised their current king like his own child.

Han changed into his wolf form and rushed to the royal palace without wasting a second, as there was no use calling anymore.

The screams and wails of mothers and their children echoed around the palace as they rushed inside their houses to protect themselves from the attack.

The thick scent of explosives, sweat, tears, and blood lingered in the air as Han ran towards the palace.

When he reached the palace, he saw his Queen’s dead body, which had a dagger wound in her abdomen.

Knowing that she was pregnant and with her, the heir of the kingdom died, Han felt his heart trembling before looking around, wanting to find his king.

He rushed to the other chamber only to see one of the rogues grabbing David’s son.

"Hey!" Han growled at the rogue, who quickly ran away.

Han is about to follow him when he sees one of the rogues sneaking near his king, fighting the rogues to save his kingdom and his brother’s family.

"Sir!" Han rushed forward and started fighting with the rogues alongside his king.

"Mr Han, go away. I won’t be able to make it out alive. My queen died, and I have multiple wounds on my body. I won’t be able to live anymore. I just want to be able to kill as many rogues who came after my family before dying. Death is inevitable for me. To find where they took David’s son," His king ordered him.

"Sir, nothing will happen to you. Nothing will happen to your brother’s family either. He is safe and -" Han hesitated to tell him that his brother wasn’t the target; he was.

"Go away, Han! This is my last royal order! Are you going to defy me?!" Desmond swung his sword, killing another rogue.

Han left helpless and left the kingdom to look for David’s son.

His queen was dead, his son couldn’t be saved, and he knew David’s family was never a target.

He needed to follow the last royal order. That was what his duty told him.

He kept looking for David’s son for hours until he saw a few rogues who were returning while laughing.

"Look what the cat dragged in, another royal peasant. Are you looking for the heir? Well, he is long gone. We killed him. It’s useless to look for him," The rogues mocked him.

"What did you say? You killed him? A child? You monsters!" Han attacked the rogues to take out his anger at his helplessness.

He fought the rogues, killing four of them, but he was vastly outnumbered.

He didn’t remember what happened after that. All he knew was that a fisherman found his body, and he had been living in hiding ever since then.

He never returned to the royal palace to tell anyone the truth because he was ashamed of his incapacity to protect and follow the royal orders, but most importantly, because he knew it was futile.

"I had gathered the courage to come once a year. I had arrived in the city, but I didn’t know what to say when I saw you and the queen happily engulfing the son whose mother was the reason behind everything. How could I say something without proof to withhold my words?" Han asked.

David stood frozen in his place.

Blood drained from his face as he heard the story. His brother died protecting him and his family? His brother knew he would die.

That night when he had pushed them inside the hidden chamber and not entered himself to save them, he knew he was going to die. But even after that, he promised to come out of it alive.

His brother sacrificed himself to save them? A whimper left David’s mouth as he remembered that night, his legs giving up as he fell backward on the couch.
