Chapter 32: A little bit about alpha

Chapter 32: A little bit about alpha

VALENCIA’S POV

"So that’s what happened," I explained everything to Dylan and Carl, omitting the parts where I had snuck into the Dark Callisto pack and made a mess of Shadow’s room and almost got caught.

I indeed told him that I snuck there, but the rest wasn’t so necessary for him to know.

"That’s quite peculiar. I have heard of Shadow. Though he isn’t as troubling as his alpha, the guys should not be underestimated either. He is known to defeat some alphas too," Carl said.

I couldn’t help but nod at him in understanding.

I could tell Carl wasn’t bluffing. I have seen those ripping muscles and touched them too when I was in my cat form.

So how can I not know...

I cleared my throat when I realized my thoughts were drifting to the forbidden zone once again.

"Anyway, he has warned me that I can’t go out of the city for the time being or it will be considered as going against the alpha and they will personally hunt me down," I groaned, placing my head in Dylan’s lap who was playing with my hair.

"Hey!" I almost kicked Carl, who tickled my foot, and the man just chuckled, resorting back to watching the game on the TV.

Seriously, he was acting like he was a part of the conversation and couldn’t be bothered with this conversation at the same time.

"By the way, can I ask you something?" I looked up at Dylan, who hummed, his fingers pausing before he resumed caressing my hair.

"Why does he hate rogues so much? The alpha I mean," I asked.

This was something that I wanted to ask Shadow too. But then again, what if it was a touchy subject and they imprison me thinking I was interested in the subject because I was one? I couldn’t take that kind of risk. Thus, asking Dylan was the best choice.

He was the next council head and must know about this stuff about the alpha.

After Dark Callisto was one of the only packs that didn’t fear the council and created their own rules.

"That’s not a story I must tell, Val," Dylan said, and I looked at him with a dejected sigh.

It means he really knew something.

"That’s the least you can do for someone who is probably going to die because your little council squad couldn’t keep their mouth shut about my stay here," I said before removing his hand.

I was about to sit straight when he sighed.

"I can’t just open up someone’s life history to you, Valencia," Dylan said and I hummed.

"I am not asking you to tell me everything in detail. I just want to know what I am dealing with here. What if something happens and he finds out I am a rogue too? What then? I have to cook up things to be safe. I wouldn’t like someone to talk about me either, but I am asking for a vague hint," I said.

Dylan was about to say something when Carl hummed.

"I think she is right. You should tell her that much," Carl said, and I sat straight, despite Dylan’s protest.

"Do you know something?" I asked Carl, who looked at Dylan briefly as if asking for permission.

I sighed.

There was no use talking to them like this. They were only beginning to enrage me at this point.

"Goodnight, guys," I said and was about to stand when Dylan held my hand, stopping me.

"He got cheated," Dylan said.

I paused.

"Hmmm?" I asked.

"That man got cheated by his mate just like you got cheated. And then he lost his parents in a rogue attack along with his mate who ran away. There are many theories and some say that the rogue attack was led by his elder brother, the person his mate slept with," Dylan said.

To say I was surprised would be an understatement.

"Let me get this straight. He had a mate. His mate slept with his elder brother, who turned into a rogue and attacked their own pack. Their parents died in that attack. What about his elder brother and mate?" I asked and Dylan shrugged.

"That’s exactly why he hates rogues. Hos brother got away unscathed, and he has been looking for him ever since. There are many other theories about what happened, but anyone who wants to stay alive doesn’t dare to talk about him openly," Dylan explained.

I don’t know what I was feeling.

Was I seriously feeling bad for an alpha who would probably kill me soon because I was a rogue too?

For someone I haven’t even met? Why?

’Because you are sympathetic, Valencia. You can see your own pain in his situation. Isn’t that exactly what happened with us too? Your mate cheated on you with your sister who was supposed to support her and then you had to leave the pack, turning into a rogue. Your parents didn’t die, but weren’t they taken away from you?’ Aurora asked me.

I scoffed.

’I didn’t lose my parents because my mate cheated on me, Aurora. I lost my parents because I couldn’t turn into a freaking wolf like everyone else,’ I spat.

As soon as those words left my mouth, I regretted them and sighed.

She was just trying to comfort me. Why did I have to act so rudely towards her all the time?

’Hey, I am....’ I started but Aurora stood from her place and went to the inner side of my head space before sitting down.

I immediately felt guilty and massaged my forehead.

"Anyways, I am sure you guys are not here just to chill with me. What is your original plan? Tell me what exactly you are here for?" I looked at Dylan and Carl suspiciously, and the way they looked at each other strengthened my suspicion even more.

"I told you we would once be able to hide it from her if she is so good at being a spy," Carl said and Dylan rolled his eyes.

"There is a new mission for you, Valencia. A royal one this time," Dylan dropped the bomb on me, and I widened my eyes.

A royal mission?
