Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 306: A little bit about the wolf
Chapter 306: A little bit about the wolf
MAVERICK’S POV
I sat before the two angels, Kelly and Alisha, waiting for them to start speaking.
Of course, I didn’t like how they made my beautiful Luna asleep, but it was something she wasn’t ready to hear yet and might’ve lashed out that they took this step.
I was okay with it as long as they were ready to disclose the information to me. I will find a way to tell my love all about it in a way that she will be able to take easily.
"I am waiting," I said to the angels, who looked at each other as if still contemplating whether it was okay to tell me. I was starting to grow impatient.
We had other things at hand. The rogues were starting to invade the territories of this state. With the way they were doing it, it wasn’t hard to determine that they were trying to provoke us into going into attack mode impulsively without a proper plan.
"Let’s start from the basics. You know that Valencia is just called a lantern because she didn’t turn into her wolf when she was fourteen, right?" Kelly asked.
I nodded my head.
"And has Valencia told you anything about her wolf?" She asked.
I stayed mum, thinking about it.
Valencia has indeed hinted that she has a wolf, and even Reaper has felt her presence whenever she becomes too agitated and beyond her control. I know that she can shapeshift, but apart from that, she has never verbally specified that she has a wolf.
Besides, the mark that formed on our necks with the blurry white wolf was an indirect indicator.
"I know she has a wolf," I answered.
Kelly nodded and looked at Alisha, seeking permission again.
Alisha hummed in some kind of silent agreement, and Kelly took a deep breath.
"Well, as you can see, I mean, as I had said and observed, it wasn’t supposed to be like this, but since it happened like that –" Kelly was obviously having a hard time wrapping the information into a deliverable form.
Usually, I would’ve given anyone with her status enough time to understand things, but I was running low on time and patience.
"Let it be," Alisha said, and Kelly paused before taking a deep breath.
"Valencia’s wolf isn’t a normal wolf," Kelly said.
I furrowed my brows.
"I know her wolf is cursed, and that is why she can’t change into her wolf form and instead changes into a feline animals," I said to shorten their time.
Kelly shook her head at me.
"That’s where you are wrong. It is not Valencia’s wolf that is cursed. Valencia is the one who is cursed, and the wolf is hiding behind the curse to suppress its power so it won’t have to transform so soon and risk her life," Kelly said.
Now, this was indeed a piece of information for me.
I looked at Alisha to confirm if what Kelly said meant precisely what I was thinking.
Alisha nodded.
"Actually, Valencia’s wolf, one of its kind and the favorite child of the Moon Goddess that she grew herself, has a wicked fate," Alisha said.
I didn’t like where this was going.
They said Valencia was cursed, but now her wolf had a wicked fate.
"Unlike other wolves who have been reincarnated more than fifty times on average, the wolf has been reincarnated only ten times, and none of her rebirths lasted for more than eighteen years when she actually turned into her wolf form,"
My heart thumped loudly against my chest as my brain started to intake the information.
"What do you mean?" I asked, standing from my place.
Kelly pressed her lips into a thin line.
"I know it’s hard to understand, but this is the truth. This is Aurora’s eleventh reincarnation, and she should’ve turned into her wolf form on Valencia’s eighteenth birthday. However, she didn’t, and that’s why Valencia is alive," Kelly answered.
I froze in my place. I had expected all kinds of hidden secrets about Valencia. When they had disbelief on their faces, I thought it was something to do with her wolf again, but I had never thought they had something this extravagant.
"Even Aurora is hiding behind the curse to protect Valencia because she is accustomed to the death of 10000 wolves, and if she doesn’t survive this one, she will never be reincarnated," Alisha said.
They were dropping the bombs one by one, and I just stood there while Reaper looked at me with an equally anxious expression.
I know he was worried for our woman. Who wouldn’t?
It was only yesterday we marked her and made her ours. We even hoped and prayed to the Moon Goddess that she would bestow Valencia with mercy and help her become her wolf because we have seen how much she yearns to meet her.
However, who would’ve thought that rather than helping her and asking for happiness for her, we were actually asking for her death and destruction?
"Does this mean Valencia will never change into her wolf form?" I asked, wanting to be sure.
A whimper left Reaper’s mouth as he lay in my headspace. He was probably feeling the heartache for our woman because we both knew how devastated she would be after hearing the truth.
"She will. Aurora will have to change into her wolf form sooner or later because there is a limit to which she can hide behind this curse. That was what surprised us," Kelly said, earning my attention to herself.
What did she mean it surprised them?
"Aurora was the one who removed the black smog that the devil made Valencia inhale, and she did it with her powers. Technically, from all her reincarnations, it has been impossible for her to use any magic without taking over and killing her human in the end," Alisha said.
I didn’t know if it was good news.
If Aurora tried to heal Valencia like this, it meant she would try to interfere in her life again, and it would just be a matter of time before she turned into her wolf form, thus killing Valencia in the end.
"Is there no solution to it?" I asked the much-dreaded question.
I dreaded asking it because I didn’t know if I would be able to take it if the angels said there was no solution around it.
"There is indeed one," Kelly and Alisha looked at each other.
"What is it?" I asked, not liking the expression they shared between them.
"It is..." They told me the solution, and I gulped.
"Are you sure it will work?" I asked.
"There is a fifty-person chance. Aurora has yearned to feel all phases of being inside a human. Unfortunately, she never could even find her mate, let alone enjoy the process of being loved by a mate. Thus, if it were about her baby, I am sure she would do everything in her power to control her energy so she won’t kill her baby and risk her only chance at motherhood," Alisha said.
I nodded in understanding.
Her reasons sounded plausible, and I licked my bottom lip.
"What else should I keep in mind?" I asked.
"A mother is the most powerful person in the world because she carries a life inside her. There is no person more determined and powerful than a mother who wants to protect her child," Alisha said.
I didn’t understand what she was trying to hint at and was about to ask her what she meant when the angels disappeared, leaving me with hundreds of questions, and I sighed.
