Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 285: They will kill her
Chapter 285: They will kill her
VALENCIA’S POV
I looked at the Lycans for their answer, and they sighed.
"We have the intel that the devil might be creating an interspecies army," Lycan Asher said, and I felt Maverick freezing beside me.
He probably understood what this term meant, but people like me, oblivious to werewolf politics at that level, didn’t know what they were discussing.
I looked at them, waiting for anyone to explain, and the man sighed.
"What it means is that the devil and his team especially have been abducting people from all kinds of species, be it werewolves, vampires, witches, skinwalkers, or just anything. They are turning those people, forcing them to become hollow like themselves and follow their oath," They said.
I hummed.
’It is worse than we had thought.’ Aurora said, and I furrowed.
I could see it was terrible, but what did she mean it was worse than we thought?
’It means that the devil wants to have all kinds of advantages by his side. That is the reason the witches are so anxious about this war that would take place if the devil took his complete form and the rest of the world. It would be complicated because no single species would be able to beat them, and it’s way harder to gather all the species,’
Aurora explained to me, and I finally understood what was happening. The interspecies army meant having the power of all kinds of people, ultimately making them undefeatable.
"We have the intel that the devil will be arriving near you soon. He will come to check if you possess what he wants to survive," The Lycans said, dropping another bomb on me, and I gulped before taking a deep breath.
Then again, why would we come to me without being fully prepared? It didn’t make any sense until...
I furrowed my brows.
What was that even supposed to mean?
"What do I have?" I asked.
"A heart," Lycan Cassandra said.
I nearly spat the drink I was sipping, excusing myself as I coughed a little.
Were they being for real?
"A heart? Doesn’t everyone have a heart?" I asked.
Lycan Asher was the one who sighed.
"Well, you are not just his death but a key for him to live for infinity or until whatever time they have. He has the body parts and the evil magna they have collected from all the species, and killing their people will keep him alive and sustain him, but until when?" Lycan Asher asked.
I shook my head.
I was about to speak when Maverick beat me to it.
"You mean to say he has everything but not a beating heart, and that’s why he wants her heart," Maverick said.
Lycan Veronica was the one who answered this time.
She bobbed her head before looking at Lycan Caleb, probably for further explanation.
That was bullshit. This was exactly what I wanted to say to them, but...
The dream I had about my mother appearing and telling me that the red coral everyone was looking for was indeed me started to make sense.
It was named red coral, but the devil never wanted to disclose its purpose. They were sure a person like me would want to work to attain it.
And while doing this, they would be able to see where exactly I was or probably single me out from all the security I had around me.
The thought made my blood run cold, so I took a deep breath.
"Red Coral," I said.
"What did you say?" Lycan Cassandra asked, the most surprised.
Maverick also turned to look at me with raised brows. I am sure my sudden words surprised him because his spy team was one of the teams who was looking into the red coral.
And why not? The prize money on that red coral was increasing almost every month.
The current prize was $5 billion, and one was left to wonder just what exactly this coral was all about and what kind of powers it possessed that made it so valuable.
It turned out this red coral was valuable and invaluable at the same time.
While it might not mean much to others and was nothing less than a regular heart for them, for the devil who has risen, it was his way to ensure a long and healthy life.
"The Red Coral, which has the prize money of $5 billion, is my heart," I said.
"How did you find out?" Lycan Cassandra asked, and I told them my mom told me about it.
"The Luna appeared in her dream, too, just like she indicated to us. This information is valid, and she knows what has happened on Earth. No wonder there is a turmoil among the angels," The Lycans started to discuss among themselves.
After discussing a few more things about how the devil will try to make his presence known to me before the next full moon, which was a blue moon this time, and how I was the only one among living creatures apart from angels and the top three witches would be able to recognize it too, the lycans decided to leave.
"There are a couple of weeks before that. We will come again. Until then, we will try to find a way to help Valencia. There has to be something," Lycan Caleb said.
"I have a doubt," I said, stopping them from moving.
It was a random thought that appeared in my mind, but I knew I couldn’t sleep or stay still until I sorted it out.
"You say the devil needs my heart for the proper functioning of his body. If he doesn’t get that, he won’t be that strong, right?" I asked, and they nodded.
"If I die, will the world be able to defeat the devil?" I asked.
"Valencia!" Maverick raised his voice at me, and I looked at him apologetically. I know he hates the most when I say words like death or dying. I know he would do everything to protect me, too.
But this time, this wasn’t only about me. It was about all of us.
"It’s just a thought," I whispered.
"It’s okay. It’s obvious she would be curious about such a thing since it concerns her life," Lycan Asher said to Maverick before he turned to Lycan Cassandra.
The woman nodded and stepped ahead, holding my hand.
"Look, as we have said, you are the only one who can kill the devil too. Despite your weakness and how you are nothing before him, the arrow shot by your hand will take his life, and that’s why he would do everything in his power to stop you. However–," Lycan Cassandra stopped, and I knew none of us would like what we would hear next.
"However?" Maverick asked, his gaze dark as he stepped ahead protectively, holding my hand and pulling me back so my hand was touching his chest while he glowered at everyone.
"However, if we saw that you have been defeated and the devil is trying to take your heart away and become much stronger and unbeatable, to maintain the decorum of nature and for the well-being of the world, we would kill you ourselves," She said.
I took a sharp breath before nodding.
"Our assistance won’t be needed in that. There are many people who would do the job to protect the world, the people close to you being the first ones. Don’t you have a witch hovering around you?" Lycan Caleb said before he nodded at Maverick and turned around to leave.
Lycan Veronica looked between me and Maverick one last time before following everyone out.
I slumped in my seat.
"Are you okay?" Maverick asked me, but I shook my head.
"No, I am not okay this time. It’s one thing after another. When will I have the time to myself? To us?" I paused.
"This information is just too much for me to take in at the moment, and my head feels heavy," I confessed.
Maverick smiled at me before holding my hand and rubbing my knuckles with his thumb.
"Let’s go," he suddenly stood.
"Where are we going?" I asked him, confused, and he just smiled at me before taking me out.
He nodded at Shadow, probably sharing some message through the mind link, and the guy gave the keys to Maverick.
He drove us to the top of the hill for around forty minutes before parking the car near the cliff.
"Where are you taking me, Maverick? Don’t we have to meet with the pack’s alphas to decide what pack to help first and what the situation with the rogues on their side is? There is just so much work to do," I complained and was about to add more when he placed his finger over my lips.
"Remember what you made me do when I was feeling low?" he asked me, and I looked around in confusion.
What did I make him do? I wondered.
However, my question was soon answered when he held my hand and jumped down from the cliff, leaving me in shock.
