Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna
Chapter 28: Intruder at house

Chapter 28: Intruder at house

VALENCIA’S POV

’Someone is here,’ Aurora whispered as soon as we neared our lakehouse, and I immediately became alert.

Blame this ink on my fur that I wasn’t able to smell anything clearly anymore. Thanks to Aurora who told me about it beforehand.

I padded my way towards the back door of the house, my heart as calm as I could make it to not allow that other person to know I was there.

It was only today that I shifted and an intruder was already here? It only meant one thing. Someone was keeping a lookout at me.

Then again, judging from the kind of work I am involved with and how often I mess with the rogues and intervene with their plans, I won’t be shocked if it’s one of the rogue’s team members or worse, a family member.

Why are family members worse? Because their sense of revenge can actually take you to hell and make you crawl your way out.

How do I know that? Because I helped a rogue she-wolf avenge her son’s death by an Alpha who killed her son intentionally in the name of hunting.

That day I saw a new version of how a mother can supposedly turn from the most loving person to a beast. If I hadn’t intervened right in time, the mother would have skinned that Alpha’s son alive. And as much as I wanted to help her teach that alpha a lesson, death wasn’t a solution for someone who wasn’t directly at fault.

Shaking my head, I held my breath as I entered the hall, the dim light of the kitchen, making my heart skip a beat.

What was this person doing in my kitchen? Adding poison to my food?

Does that mean it was all down to food?

Was it because I stole some food from this person? Or was it because this person has observed me for some time and found out I have no sense of security when it comes to food?

And yes, I was yet to turn into my human form, which made my sneaking inside the house even easier.

As I saw a man crouching in the lower cabinets, the cabinets where I hid my favorite and most EXPENSIVE chocolates and dry fruits I stole, my eyes widened.

How dare this guy! Stealing in the house of a thief herself?!

Without wasting a single second, I quickly changed into my human form and grabbed the nearest thing I could to hit this man, which happened to be a baseball bat that I bought just for such purposes.

I grabbed the bat and raised it in the air, swinging it and bringing it down, hitting the man’s head.

As soon as the bat hit the man’s head, he groaned before turning around and falling on the ground with a thud, his painful moans, making me satisfied.

This son of a prick really thought he could outsmart a pro thief like me? I scoffed when I saw the large knife in his hand, the knife that he probably was going to use on me if I intervened.

’Is there anyone else?’ I asked Aurora who shook her head at me.

Damn light, why was it so dark! It was the sole reason I hated coming to this house. It didn’t really have the best lighting in the world and with the power cut off and me having no idea where the candles were, it was making things even harder.

"But even if it was the power cut off, shouldn’t the inverter work just fine?" Aurora asked me and I fell deep in thought.

She was right. Could it be that there was some technical problem with the inverter? Does that mean one more expense?

Uhh...

But we need to deal with this man first. I nodded at myself before looking at the side cabinet where I knew I had stuffed the ropes, thanks to a little moonlight that was entering the kitchen through the window.

Zzzzzzzz... Zzzzzzz

The sound of my phone vibrating echoed in the silent house.

Who the hell was calling me when I was busy with such an important task?! Heck, I can’t even see where my phone was.

After making the culprit sit on the chair in the kitchen and tie his hands and legs, I dusted my hands before looking around to see where the hell I placed my phone. And to make things worse, the phone stopped vibrating too.

How much I wished I could...

The phone started vibrating again, and I sighed in relief when I saw the little light on the side of the sofa.

This man probably knocked off my phone there.

With a scowl, I picked up my phone and smiled when I noticed who it was.

"Uncle," I sighed, breathing slowly so that he wouldn’t detect anything wrong with my situation.

Having him worry about what was going on here and an intruder invading my privacy was the last thing on my mind.

"My favorite girl, please forgive your uncle for not being able to come and meet you. I really wanted to come but things held me back. I just wanted to let you know so that the boys don’t give you false information about my absence. You know I love you, right?" The council head asked.

I smiled at the thought. Does that mean Dylan was coming here?

"Have they already reached there? They were planning some kind of surprise for you in your lakehouse once they heard you would be moving today," Uncle said.

"No. They are not here yet. I will let you -" I paused.

"By boys, who exactly do you mean?" I asked, a feeling of happiness taking over my heart when I smelt something sweet, like a cake.

"Boys you know. Dylan and his cousin Carl. Carl wanted to meet you for a long time and went with Dylan. Have you forgotten him?" The council head mused, and I smiled.

"Of course not, uncle. How can I forget -" I couldn’t complete my sentence when I heard some commotion outside before I felt the presence of that one man who held me at my lowest.

"Carl, have you prepared everything that I asked -" Dylan paused when he saw me standing in the hall and a tearful smile appeared on my face.

Without caring about anything else, I threw myself towards the man, who held me close, letting me hug him tightly.

"Why didn’t you tell me you were coming? I would’ve cleaned the house a bit," I said, and Dylan chuckled.

"It’s not a surprise if you know about everything, no?" He asked before kissing my temple.

"You have no idea how much I yearned to see you. I rushed here the first thing Dad said I can take one day’s leave," Dylan said, and I sighed contently, placing my head on his chest.

I can’t describe how peaceful it feels in the arms of someone who trusts you and ....

Wait a second...

"Dylan, where is Carl?" I gulped.

Dylan pulled away and looked at me amused.

"Are you kidding me? You are at home. Didn’t you already meet him?" He asked.

I... Did I meet HIM?

I gulped, and seeing the hesitant look on my face, the smile on Dylan’s face faltered a bit.

"What’s wrong, Val?" His eyes squinted suspiciously, and I cleared my throat.

"Well, as you can see, I wasn’t expecting your arrival and Carl’s arrival. And you are someone I am close to and can smell your scent easily, but when it comes to other people, I am not that sure. Besides, it was really faint because something was troubling my nose so..." I trailed off, biting my lips nervously.

"So?" Dylan asked, but rather than waiting for my answer, he walked further inside the house, and I closed my eyes, knowing all too well what I did.
