THIRD PERSON’S POV

After talking to Jason about various things related to the rogue head, Valencia decided it was time for her to leave the area and return to the meeting point she had agreed upon with Dylan.

"I will keep you updated regarding Glacier and his activities. Also, we have been rigorously recruiting rogues in the past months, but I have put a hold on recruitment. With the increasing threats to your life, we don’t know when a cunning person would want to approach you by joining the forces if they found out about your team," Jason said to Valencia.

She nodded. She knew the risk of working with the rogues, especially when her life was in danger because of rogues only.

"I understand. You should leave now," Valencia whispered as he accompanied her to the City Clock area.

It wasn’t long before she spotted Dylan, who was walking straight towards her. Hurriedly, she looked to her left, where Jason was standing.

However, to her relief, the man was already gone.

Dylan narrowed his brows.

He saw the man with Valencia and couldn’t help but think that he had seen the man before.

"Who was the man with you?" He asked her as soon as she walked up to him.

"The man with me? Just a rogue who was reporting something to me. Why? Is something the matter?" She asked, feigning a little to hide the fact he was an alpha that Dylan might’ve recognized.

At the same time, in the abandoned, half-constructed hotel in Callisto City, two men walked inside the hall on the third floor, where they knew their boss was.

The man inside the hall, leisurely lying on the mattress couch, looked up from the files toward the men who had arrived with solemn expressions on their faces.

He immediately knew something was the matter.

He placed the files aside and sat straight.

"What is it?" He asked, shifting his gaze to and fro between the two subordinates.

"Sir, it’s about Cordelia. She... she was killed last night," The man said.

The man on the couch raised his brows at the words.

Cordelia died?

But how was that possible? She had gone to find some leads on the Red Coral along with a way to get something they could use to reign Maverick.

Besides, she was still his mate. Who could’ve gone ahead and killed the mate of the alpha?

"Who did it?" Glacier asked.

The man sighed.

"It’s him, sir. Alpha Maverick did it..." The man started before telling his boss everything he learned about the incident.

Glacier stood from his place and smirked.

He walked to some distance, looking down from the third floor at nothing in particular.

"It looks like the man finally grew some balls," He scoffed.

The men looked at each other, many questions swirling in their heads.

Glacier could feel their curious gazes on his back, and he sighed before briefly turning to them.

"What is it?" He asked.

"Sir, what will we do next? We relied on Cordelia to provide us with some important information as we reached our end. With the recent attack on the head base, the rogues have taken a great shock and are feeling wary of Alpha Maverick," The man asked.

Glacier hummed.

He returned to the couch and sat down, crossing his legs one over the other before looking at them intensely.

"I didn’t know my team was relying on that useless woman so much. And here I thought I had the best team who was ready to attack and spy on whoever I wanted at once," Glacier commented.

His words caught their attention, and they were about to explain their concerns to him, afraid their boss would misinterpret and hurt them or their families for their incompetence. But before they could do that, they saw Glacier’s phone vibrating with an incoming call.

Glacier looked at the name on the screen before picking up the call.

"I hope at least you have brought me some good news," Glacier commented at his left-hand man, Parker, who inhaled sharply.

"Sir, Maverick got a hold of Alfonso. It looks like the rogues didn’t follow our instructions and had been hiding him in their base. When the alpha attacked, he found him," Parker said.

Glacier gritted his teeth.

It was one bad news after the other.

"Is that so? All of them are useless pawns to us now. Is there something or someone new we can use?" Glacier asked.

Parker hummed.

"Indeed. It looks like this girl Valencia isn’t as simple as she appears. She was recently seen interacting with quite a few rogues. She has her own set of rogues.

Our intel from the council says she proposed attacking the packs that are under us. We are trying to track one of the men who met her today," Parker said.

Glacier nodded at the information. Finally, something worthy.

"It’s good. Keep tailing him and see where he goes. If possible, kidnap him," Glacier commented.

The man on the phone hummed before ending the call.

Glacier looked at the photos he received from his right-hand man, Zeus. These photos showed a masked man following Valencia.

His identity wasn’t exactly the main problem.

It was the fact that all the photos looked like the man knew they were tailing him because he looked directly toward the camera when the image was clicked.

There is someone who knows they have been following Valencia, and it can become problematic for them, as this could be one of Maverick’s men trying to trick them.

"Sir, there is something else we wanted to tell you," the men who had been waiting for their boss to calm down said.

Glacier averted his gaze from the photos to his subordinates.

"He was there, sir," They said together.

Glacier raised his brows.

He was there? Yet rather than interfering and saving Cordelia’s life, he stood there and watched the drama unfold like it was nothing.

"Well, what could you expect? Let this be a lesson to us that we can’t trust all these people in their positions. They might look like they are on our side, but aren’t. At the end of the day, it’s us who need to stick together. We are nothing but pawns for them," Glacier said, and the men nodded.

He was about to give them new instructions on deploying a legitimate spy when his phone rang again. He looked at the caller ID, his brows lifting in shock.

He looked at his people, who immediately got the signal and exited from the hall to give him privacy.

"Sir," Glacier’s voice and attitude changed 180 °, and he immediately became humble and soft-spoken.

"You must’ve already found out what happened," The man on the other end said.

Glacier verbally agreed, unsure why the man called him this time.

"So it looks like your team has indeed become useless. Who asked you to send her at this time, and even if you sent her, who asked her to operate like this? She was one of the most useful pawns for us, yet we had to lose it like that. His brother is gone too. How are you going to compensate for this?" The man on the other end said.

Glacier cleared his throat.

"Sir, please give us some time. We will find a way for sure. This time, we indeed miscalculated things. We didn’t realize things were so complicated and serious between Valencia and Alpha Maverick. That girl acted on her own," Glacier said.

The man on the other end didn’t say anything.

"Miscalculated? I don’t pay you guys for your miscalculations. Do you have any idea how angry I was when I saw everything happening? Let me know if you can’t do this so I can hire someone. I can’t waste my resources on -"

Glacier shook his head.

He couldn’t afford to bear it.

"No, sir. Please give us one more chance. We will prove to be worthy of every penny you spend on us. Please trust us one more time. We made the move seven years ago and took everything from Alpha Maverick at that time, too. It would be the same this time, sir. Just -" Glacier started.

However, the man on the other side growled at him before he could complete his sentence.
