Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 275: The identity of the rogue
Chapter 275: The identity of the rogue
VALENCIA’S POV
"So, have you decided on your future steps?" Dylan asked me as we sat inside the car, moving towards the city.
When I told them I was going to the city because I had little work to do with someone, they suggested I take a council member with me.
Maverick was busy with stuff and investigation while meeting the alphas who had yet to leave, and I knew it was the right time to meet Jason.
I was unsure what he learned about the rogues, but if he decided to appear when I knew how much he hated traveling, I knew it was worth the effort.
Dylan and Carl are the only people who wouldn’t make a face when they knew I was meeting a rogue, so I asked Dylan if he could assist me.
Luckily, he had some work with the city clerk and was about to leave soon.
He agreed to accompany me immediately.
"What do you mean?" I asked, wanting to be clear about his exact meaning before answering.
He shrugged casually and said he knew I wasn’t going to leave the investigation for anyone. He just wanted to know how many days I was planning on living in the council chambers.
I told him I was planning to leave as soon as possible.
Since Maverick and I had chosen each other as our life partners, it was only right for me to accompany him back to his pack because I didn’t want him to worry about me when I knew his pack was in constant danger with the rogue attacks.
Besides, after knowing that the rogue head of the Southern regions had it in for me, too, it was a personal fight.
There were just too many things we needed to discuss, and acting on all of them together would only make things more difficult. Thus, we decided to deal with one matter at a time.
The biggest obstacle in our lives right now was the rogue attacks competing with the effects of my curse.
It meant we needed to deal with the situation carefully because one wrong move might cost us more than we could afford to lose.
While doing all this and knowing our lives were full of danger and troubles, we wanted to stick together and ensure we didn’t hide our love for each other.
It was us against the world.
After a few more minutes of discussing things, we finally reached the city, and I asked him to drop me off near the city clock.
Once I ensured he had left and I had no tail on me, I pulled out my phone to see if Jason had left another message about his precise location.
There was indeed a location message. It wasn’t the address but the live location, and I followed the map until I reached a small cafe.
I looked around before clearing my throat and walking inside the cafe.
It was a remote area, with only two sets of customers, both couples.
Thinking I got into the wrong place, I was about to leave when I heard the ringing sound of the little bell on the entrance door, making me turn around and look at the third alpha of my team.
He was the most serious one among all of us.
I walked to a random table away from the couples. He followed me, sitting ahead of me.
"Do you want to eat something?" He asked me, his gaze not giving away anything.
"Are you paying?" I asked.
He briefly raised his gaze from the menu before humming, a little smile appearing on his lips.
I know it was ironic because I was their boss, and typically, I should be treating him.
We ordered coffee and a few snacks and waited for the waiter to leave before I looked at him seriously.
"So, how are things going with Tory and Theo? He has recovered completely, right?" I asked Jason.
He nodded at me briefly before looking out of the window.
"Why didn’t no one tell me you were going on such a serious mission? Do you think your life is worth nothing? How could you?" Jason asked me.
He was angry. I could see that. But what else I could see and he was hiding well was the concern in his eyes, and I smiled briefly.
Wasn’t he a little too cute?
"Well, I had confidence in you guys that you would do anything to protect me if I didn’t return," I said, talking about the Caribbean’s pack incident, and he rolled his eyes at me.
"You talk and act like everyone’s life matters, just not yours. Theo went there with his stupid conscience," Jason said.
I supported my head on my hands as I looked at him.
"If any of you make a mistake, as your leader, it’s my responsibility to come and rescue you. I might be younger than all of you, but you guys might be the alphas, but let’s not forget, I am your alpha here," I smiled when he looked up at me, his eyes beaming a little and ears turning red
Yes, Tory told me that Jason has been telling all the rogues that they weren’t the ultimate power and that their real alpha was someone else. He was obviously talking about me.
It was comical how the most severe person in my group actually cared a lot about me.
He struggles to hide his emotions, but I always see right through him.
Not wanting to extend the topic, I nodded at the waiter once he brought out orders and immediately asked Jason the main question we were meeting in the first place.
"Who is he?" I asked.
It was important for me to know after what he did and give me the pendant still around my neck.
Don’t ask me. I ensured it didn’t have any tapping device. It was too pretty to be waiting in my dresser for the occasion, so I was wearing it, along with my scent-hiding pendant.
"Just like I said, you have a knack for collecting troubles in your life. Even if you had to save someone’s life, must it have been him?" Jason asked me.
I scrunched my brows.
I didn’t know we were supposed to save lives only after ensuring their identities. Besides, he wasn’t the only rogue I saved. I saved quite a number of rogues in these six months.
Was it worth being stalked?
"Just tell me who he is because he has some weird ideas about how he owes me his life and will protect me. It’s good that he is not after my neck, but I don’t really appreciate a stalker," I said.
Jason sighed before he pulled out his bag, which I hadn’t observed earlier.
He brought out a blue-colored file and placed it before me.
I looked around to ensure there were no CCTV cameras again before opening the file.
There were some photos initially, and I was about to ask him what I was supposed to understand from these masked photos when I started to see the pattern in them.
The photos weren’t just random.
These photos were of the previous month’s places I had been.
My heart skipped a beat when I realized the man was probably living beside the apartment that I had rented with Carl.
I raised my brows at the familiarity of the photos.
This man... Why do I feel like I have seen him somewhere?
Wait. This... It was him.
The man, who was dressed in all black and masked, had arrived at the cafe I was working in. He had probably also appeared at the club I went to and paid for my bills.
"Well, don’t I have a personal dark romance theme in my life?" I commented before clearing my throat when I saw Jason’s dark eyes.
"Do you think this is funny?" He asked.
I shook my head, munching on my vegetable lollipop before dipping another vegetable lollipop in the sauce and taking another bite.
"Why would I? Especially when I know this stalking can bring turmoil in my life. This can drive a rift between me and..." I stopped.
I was unsure if Tory and Theo told Jason I was dating Alpha Maverick.
We weren’t exactly dating and...Wait, what we were doing was dating, but...
Uhhh...I shook my head before sighing.
"I know this is serious. Sorry for interrupting you earlier. Let’s get straight to the point. Who the hell is he? What information do we have on him?" I asked.
Jason took a deep breath.
He didn’t tell me immediately.
He gulped, taking a bite of his stuffed bun and coffee before sighing.
"Someone you shouldn’t have encountered. He is the rogue head of the Northern regions," Jason said.
The vegetable lollipop dropped from my hand, staining my top as I looked at him with wide eyes.
Who did he say he was?
Rogue head of the Northern regions? How was it possible? So far, no one has seen his face and...
I gulped.
Right. Those masks that hidden identity, his ability to be able to stalk me without leaving a trace and...
Everything started to make sense while my heart started drumming in my chest.
