Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna
Chapter 247: Insulting Matilda

Chapter 247: Insulting Matilda

VALENCIA’S POV

To say I was surprised would be an understatement.

All the gowns placed on the hanger rail in my room were so beautiful and majestic as if they were prepared for some kind of princess or Queen.

There was no way I would wear something like this and take away the limelight from Dylan, whose birthday party it was.

With a sigh, I exited my room and walked to Dylan’s office.

Spotting Mason and Jonathan walking inside the council chambers while discussing the arrangements and how some of the alphas were on their way and would arrive in a couple of minutes, I sighed, remembering how Aarav told me Mason was his father.

"Valencia, sweetheart, have you chosen your dress? Dylan specially picked them up. He would like it if you wear one of them," Uncle Jonathan said.

I looked between the two men awkwardly, unsure if I should be telling them my thoughts or if I should go and relay my inconvenience to Dylan directly.

"Well, the dresses are a bit too... Beautiful? I don’t think they really fit the occasion of an acceptance ceremony, and --" I started, but the look on Uncle Jonathan’s face told me that they wouldn’t be taking no for an answer.

I shook my head dejectedly.

"I will choose one among those," I said.

Uncle Jonathan, who had been looking at me with a neutral expression earlier, immediately clapped his hands in joy before telling me what a wise choice I had made.

We talked for a few more minutes before he left.

"Miss Valencia,"

Someone called my name, and I turned to look at the familiar guard.

I squinted my eyes to remember, jogging my memory to see if I interacted with this guy before.

"I was the fifth person in the training ritual," The guard said as if understanding my dilemma.

I nodded awkwardly, unsure what he wanted from me.

"Well, I am not sure if it is alright with you, but while fighting with me, you had performed that back twist to counter my attack before kicking me in the shin and forcing me on my knees, placing your dagger on my neck. Can you... Uhh... I know it’s a little... " the guards hesitated.

I could see the red tint on his cheeks, ears, and neck turning scarlet.

I realized what he was trying to say and sighed.

"Demonstrate it again?" I asked the guard.

He nodded, keeping his gaze down.

"When does this party or ceremony end?" I asked.

"Midnight," the guard looked at me, confused.

"If you don’t have a night shift, meet me early in the morning in the forest," I said, and the guard widened his eyes before nodding.

I was about to smile and turn around to leave, wanting to take a little nap when I felt the familiar presence of someone, immediately ruining my mood.

"Well, it looks like rogue life hasn’t only taught you how to survive but how to open your legs, too," Matilda said.

I looked at the duo responsible for ruining more than half of my life and giving me the trauma of trust. Matilda’s tightening her hand around Tyler’s elbow did not go unnoticed by me.

I smirked.

Even though she was commenting ill about me, she was still scared of losing her man to me.

That realization was enough for me to avoid further ruining my mood by engaging in any kind of argument with the wrecked duo.

"Welcome to the council. I hope you have a bad time here," I smiled sarcastically at them before turning on my heels.

"It’s amazing how shameless some people can be. With greediness running in their veins and blood, I don’t understand how the council even got ready to accept such vile beings," Matilda said.

Aurora snarled inside me as Matilda indirectly insulted not only me but also my parents.

’Calm down, Aurora. They are not worth our time,’ I said to the wolf.

’Are you going just to stand here and do nothing about it?’ Aurora asked me.

I nodded at her. I wasn’t planning on doing anything, not for now.

’I can’t believe you. Are you the same Valencia who would not take anyone’s bullshit? Is it because you want to be accepted into the council? Well, you were much better when you were a rogue,’ Aurora berated me, making me sigh.

’Aurora, can you-’ I started, but as soon as I said those words, Aurora stood from her place and glared at me, making me stumble back at the effects of her powers.

’I want you to talk back and insult her equally! How dare they insult our parents, the divine beings who sacrificed so much for everyone? I won’t sit back and let you walk away from this situation,’ Aurora said.

I furrowed at her.

I don’t know what was her problem today. Usually, she is the one who tells me to calm down and let shit go.

Why was she feeling so provoked and hormonal out of the blue?

She kept looking at me as if waiting for me to say something, and I pressed my lips into a thin line.

"What happened? Cat got your tongue?" Matilda said again.

I closed my eyes.

I was hoping not to say anything and get into any mess before the acceptance ceremony, but some people know how to push someone’s buttons.

I turned around and smiled at Matilda.

Seeing some of the alphas ascending the stairs with their Lunas, I saw the perfect opportunity and blinked my eyes.

"Why would you say something so mean to me, Matilda? Is it not enough that you slept with my mate for a year and became the reason he rejected me that you have to come and rub it in my face repeatedly? I just want to work hard and live a good life because I have no one’s support like you. Do I not have the right to be happy?" I asked.

I blinked pitifully at Matilda, who looked at me as if she could see through my facade.

"So what? You don’t deserve any happiness. You weren’t even my real sister, yet you came into my life to covet my parent’s love and affection. How could I let an orphan with unknown origins have it all? I didn’t know about it, but I am glad that I took alpha Tyler away from you!" Matilda raised her voice.

I smiled.

I looked at Alpha Tyler, who had been silent since earlier, and heard our banters like a puppet.

A chuckle left my mouth.

"Is that so? Are you sure you did a good job at taking him away? Last time I checked, when I went into heat, he broke all the security to take advantage of me, rejected the mate’s request to make me his Luna, and... Do you want to know what else he did?" I asked, blinking innocently.

This time, Tyler couldn’t keep his mouth shut.

"Valencia. There is a time and space for everything," He said, glaring at me, probably feeling all the eyes on us.

I bobbed my head up and down.

"Please tell your Luna that. Stop messing with me when I don’t want to intrude or interact with you guys," I said, turning around to leave before pausing.

"Right. She isn’t your Luna yet. Not even announced, engaged, let alone married or marked. What does this make this child in her womb? A b*stard?" I asked, loving the horrified expression that crossed Matilda’s face.

I looked at all the alphas and Lunas who stood at some distance before nodding at them.

They nodded back in acknowledgment before I turned around and left the duo alone.

Let them deal with the humiliation.

’I am proud of you,’ Aurora said.

I rolled my eyes at the wolf, who practically forced me to retort, and sighed.

When I reached my room, I chose a royal green gown because I didn’t want to be the center of attention. Instead, I chose colors like red, blue, or peach, which were too eye-catching.

I asked one of the maids to take away all the dresses, and the maid nodded before leaving with the dress.

With a sigh, I walked to the balcony, wanting to call my man and know where he was and how long it would take him to arrive.

However, as I dialed Maverick’s number, I felt a shooting pain inside my head.

The pain was so excruciating that it almost made me stumble back.

All the energy suddenly felt drained from my body, and I sat on the ground near the balcony door, leaning on the side of the wall to catch my breath.

’Aurora, what’s wrong? What is happening? Have I been drugged?’ I asked Aurora, who went silent.

I waited for her to tell me what was going on as my vision darkened and dark spots started appearing in sight.

No. No. Don’t make me go unconscious again. Fuck! I said in my head as it became hard to keep my eyes open. Before I could call for help, darkness took over me.
