Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 242: Matilda’s pain
Chapter 242: Matilda’s pain
THIRD PERSON’S POV
Matilda walked into the office to ask Tyler what his plans were for the evening. She wanted him to come with her to the neighboring Luna’s birthday.
It was a small party, and they hadn’t invited many people. Since she had been on good terms with Luna since they were kids, she wanted Alpha Tyler to accompany her.
The world already knows she was chosen as the Luna of the Hazel Moon pack.
However, as soon as she reached Tyler’s office, she noticed two guards moving what looked like a large canvas inside.
"What is this?" Matilda asked Alpha Tyler, who walked inside the office in a suit.
"It’s a gift. It’s a painting by one of the most famous painters in the world, VB," Tyler explained, and Matilda raised her brows.
A happy smile appeared on her face.
"Thank you," She hugged Tyler.
Tyler furrowed his brows and looked at her with confusion.
"Why are you thanking me?" He asked.
"Because you are the best alpha in the world. I didn’t even mention the birthday party and have yet to arrange the gift. I am sure Luna Arianna would love it," Matilda said, smiling at him.
Tyler tilted his head, gently removing her hands from around him.
"Well, it’s indeed for a birthday party, but I don’t understand why Luna Arianna would be happy about it. This is not for her," Tyler said as he walked to his table.
It was Matilda’s turn to narrow her eyes at the alpha.
It wasn’t for Luna Arianna? Then who was it...
She didn’t need to ask him what he was talking about. Realization finally dawned upon her, and she clenched her jaws.
"It’s for Dylan’s birthday party. We are invited to the party tomorrow. It cost me a fortune. Do you really think I would buy such an expensive piece of art over a measly Luna birthday party? Alphas from the entire nation would go there with various gifts. Mine should look the best," Tyler said.
Matilda looked at the beaming look into the alpha’s eyes.
She suppressed the urge to scoff at him.
She wasn’t a fool to not understand what was going on here.
This man before him wasn’t excited to go to the council head’s son’s birthday party. He was excited to meet Valencia, and the thought alone made her clench her fists, her nails digging into her palm.
"Can you not go?" She asked.
Tyler, who was signing the delivery document, looked at her with raised brows before looking at the guards and handing the document to them.
He dismissed them before taking a deep breath.
"I have no reason not to go," Tyler said as he pulled a cigarette from his drawer.
"You have! You and I both know it’s not just Dylan’s birthday party. They will announce Valencia’s acceptance into the council. Must you go there? She would be there. Alpha Maverick would be there. Have you forgotten what he did to you?" Matilda asked, hoping to hurt his sensitive side so he would drop the idea.
However, the man merely scoffed.
"Are you asking me to be a coward and sit at home because I fear Alpha Maverick? That’s not going to happen. Besides, what if Valencia would be there?" Tyler asked, a smirk playing on his lips.
Matilda looked around helplessly, her brain not working as she was running out of excuses to stop him.
"You have clearly chosen me to be Luna. Why are you running to her again? That night, also, just because I didn’t say anything doesn’t mean I wasn’t hurt." Matilda grabbed the vase and threw it on the ground, breaking it into tiny pieces.
"You call her name when you sleep with me. You call her in your sleep! Am I a joke to you who doesn’t see what’s happening here? How can you accept and want her again after rejecting her?" Matilda shouted, ruffling her hair in frustration.
Tyler knitted his brows, not liking the tone she was using at him.
"Have you forgotten who you are -" Tyler started, but Matilda interrupted him.
"No! No, alpha Tyler, I have forgotten who I am talking to. I am talking to the man I have given my life, my body and soul, too. The man whose baby is growing in my womb, but you have forgotten your priorities. What happened to becoming one of the top alphas through hard work? What happened to hate rogues and Valencia?" Matilda said.
Tears rolled down her cheeks, and Tyler clenched his fists.
He stayed silent this time.
He stayed silent because he didn’t have any fitting reply to her words.
"You won’t understand it. You haven’t found your mate yet. When it comes to the mate bond, it’s not so easy," Tyler said before grabbing his jacket and walking out of the room.
"Where are you going?" Matilda held his hand to stop him.
However, Tyler jerked her hand away.
"Don’t worry. I am not going to Valencia yet. I am going for a walk to find peace because this home surely can’t provide that. I thought you were quite understanding, but I didn’t know you were just a yapping doll hiding her true Colors," Tyler said before leaving.
Matilda looked at the back of the leaving man before she fell to the ground, defeated.
What was her fault? Was she not trying her best to be his peace? Was she supposed to take his injustice just like that? Why should she?
She didn’t go to sleep with him. He had come to her room that night when their relationship started.
Everyone, including Valencia, thinks that she seduced him, but that wasn’t the case.
She didn’t even know Tyler was Valencia’s mate.
It was true she hated Valencia because she had found out the girl wasn’t her real sister, but she wasn’t the one who initiated the affair.
Why does she have to suffer for being in love with a man who was not sure about his feelings and was playing with hers just like that?
She thought he would stick to her if she kept loving him and giving him what he wanted. That was the reason she let him impregnate her even when he hadn’t engaged her yet, but who would’ve thought it would only take the truth about Valencia’s birth origins, and everything would crumble into her world?
Matilda grabbed the broken piece of the vase she broke and held it tightly in her hand, drawing blood.
She was madly in love with Tyler and was ready to do anything for him, even if it meant killing someone. She could clearly see if she wanted the man’s attention back to herself, but she needed to throw Valencia out of her way.
It didn’t just need to send her away; it needed to make her vanish completely. That was the reason she had hired those rogues to kill her, but her luck was good, and she walked out of that attack alive.
However, not every time.
"I will ruin you, Valencia. For taking my man, for trying to covet my happiness, for taking my parent’s love from me for 14 long years even when it never belonged to you, I will kill you," Matilda said, drawing more blood from her hands before she laid down in her blood.
Tears rolled down from the corner of her eyes as she remembered all the beautiful moments she shared with alpha Tyler, smiling at them.
The maid, who walked to the office to call Matilda for supper, widened her eyes when she saw the lady lying on the shards of the broken vase pieces.
"Miss Matilda!" The maid’s raised voice caught the attention of others, who rushed to the office room.
Matilda knew not to create a scene in the pack house because the words go out quickly.
She had made a scene behind closed doors earlier just so no one would know what was going on between their alpha and her.
"My abdomen is aching. I can’t move," Matilda lied through her teeth and the maids thought it was because of pregnancy and quickly called the doctor for a regular check-up.
They helped Matilda into her room inside the pack house, cleaning her wounds and helping her put on a new set of clothes before the doctor arrived to check up on her.
One of the maids walked to some distance to call their alpha and let him know what was going on.
Alpha Tyler, who was walking inside the forest, saw the incoming call from one of the maids and rolled his eyes, thinking it was something Matilda had asked the maid to do.
He turned his phone off and kept walking, his mind going over multiple things.
In his trail of thoughts, he didn’t even realize he had entered the no man’s land. He was about to turn around to leave when he heard the shuffling of leaves from behind him.
As the alpha, he wasn’t afraid of someone attacking him, and the pack’s soldiers weren’t too far.
He turned to see who it was and was surprised to see a beautiful woman walking out from behind the trees.
"Alpha Tyler?" She asked.
"That would be," The man said.
"I have a deal for you," The woman said, making him raise his eyebrows.
