ALPHA MAVERICK’S POV

Strange.

This feeling bubbling inside my heart was strange.

Why? Because I wasn’t able to put my finger on it and understand what exactly was going on.

Why was this girl inflicting so many emotions inside me?

And who the hell does she think she is to act like this with an alpha? Well, she might not know I am an alpha, but can’t she sense my aura either?

I am the same dangerous man that has even the council bowing to him. Then why the hell has she made me bow twice already?

It feels like her expressive eyes are too much for me to handle. If anyone would have talked to me in this kind of tone, he would’ve been buried 6 ft under the ground already, but for some reason, when she speaks, more with her eyes than her mouth, I don’t feel bad at all.

She has instigated emotions inside me that I never thought I was capable of anymore.

First, it was sympathy when she talked to me out of the class and asked if she wasn’t allowed to live her life just because she couldn’t be accepted by the werewolves or if we wanted her dead and that would only make us happy.

I don’t know why I felt that bad when I saw tears in her eyes. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. I wasn’t supposed to feel sympathetic towards her when I needed to decide whether she gets to live in my care or not.

Then when I saw her interacting with those humans, especially that boy who really thought he was above me and was glaring at me throughout the lecture, I don’t know why but I felt strangely agitated.

And it wasn’t just simple agitation either. It was the kind of agitation where I wanted to break that hand which was touching the back of her chair again and again.

Maybe it was because Valencia was a she-wolf, and I didn’t want a girl of our species to get entangled with those humans either.

My wolf Reaper has been awfully quiet since morning too. Does he really not have any opinion about what I am feeling?

’What opinion do you want to hear, Maverick? You got yourself into some shit, and I am thoroughly enjoying it,’ My wolf immediately said, and I smiled bitterly.

Of course, my miseries always entertain you, no? It would’ve been better if you had stayed quiet instead because this wasn’t what I wanted to hear.

’Well, the world doesn’t go your way, Maverick. Let’s go back to the pack now,’ Reaper said, and I squinted my brows.

What did he mean by that? Wasn’t he the one who wanted to meet Valencia? And now that she was gone, he wanted to go to the pack? Or was it something else?

’Do you feel something wrong with the pack? Is our presence needed there?’ I asked, and the wolf averted his gaze, making me even more suspicious.

Why was he acting like this?

’I am looking forward to meeting Kitty,’ Reaper admitted with an unapologetic defensive stance, and I raised my brows at how he was acting so whipped for that cat.

What makes him think that kitty would return? Especially after she got wounded because we tried to trap it and see if she belonged to Valencia -

Valencia... I can’t believe that girl bit me in the neck. She was so much like that cat. The way she was struggling in my arms and then bit my neck to free herself...I wondered as I remembered how many times that cat had bitten me yesterday.

Honestly, at this point I won’t be surprised if that cat was taking all the bad habits from Valencia.

Will she try to scratch me too if I become handsy with her? The agitation and glare on her face was a little too cute.

She appeared nothing less than a small kitten who was trying to scare off a tiger with her glare.

A smile appeared on my face when I remembered her reaction to how I touched her butt-cheeks.

I wasn’t an indecent man. I swear. But there was something about the way she glared and told me not to call her pretty cute ass that I was tempted to do something out of character.

’And boy did it feel right. Just imagine that pretty cute ass sitting on our face and -’

I coughed on my own saliva when I heard my wolf’s raw thoughts, my ears turning red immediately.

"Reaper!" I glared at my wolf, who immediately shut up and sat like a disobedient child who got scolded.

I can’t believe he pushed that kind of image in my head.

Did he really have to go that far? It was surprising to me because this was the first time he thought something so indecently provoking for a girl.

It’s true that we don’t have a mate anymore because we got... I paused at the thought of that night when I got the biggest betrayal of my life, my mood dampening immediately.

’Hey, shop thinking about that night. I know we lost too many things and our trust in family bonds, mate bonds, our parents, and most importantly our sanity and trust to love again, but it doesn’t mean we have to keep making our life hell because of those two people who didn’t care about us. We are letting them win by thinking about them daily,’ Reaper tried to console me, and I gritted my teeth.

I don’t care if I am letting them win by thinking about those scum. I will damn think about them every single day because that’s the motto of my life.

Those two will die at my hands. That wretched woman and that man that I trusted with my life, I will kill them with my bare hands. I don’t care how long it will take, but it will happen soon.

They will cross me sooner or later once I wipe all the rogues from this nation or probably Earth, and when that happens, I will bathe in their blood. I will offer their flesh to the moon goddess as an offering for peace for my parents soul who died that night because of their own son.

Crack!

I heard the sound of something cracking, and I looked at the trunk I was holding where a large crack appeared and I scoffed.

This will be the same crack that will appear in their skulls. I promised myself before walking out of the forest towards where I had parked by car.

As I returned to the pack, I passed by the CVR movie hall, and I remembered Valencia’s plan to go and watch a movie here.

First, I will have to see what this Aiden guy is up to and what his deal is.

"Alpha, I gathered the information you asked for. It looks like this guy Aiden is the son of the most notorious mafia group among humans. Those men who came after Valencia probably wanted to use her to get to Aiden," Carlos said as soon as he entered the room.

I hummed while I checked the meeting minutes with the alphas that Mason attended.

"You can leave," I said before grabbing the file and reading the information that my people gathered.

As I turned around the pages, I noticed a few images that were probably taken of Aiden and Valencia together by their enemies, and I couldn’t help but scoff.

Seeing how close these guys looked, anyone would use them to harm the other one.

She said she is here to study only, no? What a joke. She was clearly having a bit too much fun with the humans.

And how dare she have fun while breaking laws in my area? I stood and walked out of the room. It was about time for Reaper’s training.
