Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 221: Should meet the mainland witches?
Chapter 221: Should meet the mainland witches?
VALENCIA’S POV
’And when nature calls out to me, I serve it like a sexy lady,
No, you can’t put me down,
I am a fire; gotta ignite your life with power,
Oh, you don’t mean nothing at all to me,
But I still have to give you the lesson you deserve,
The sin of falling in love with me,’ I sang, dancing around the room with a comb as my mic.
Aurora chuckled at me while Happy danced to the rhythm, bobbing his little head as he walked in the same creepy style, his wings spread.
It was because he was so tiny right now and looked so cute while doing it that I just wanted to pull his cheeks and say, "Googly googly."
’You are happy,’ Aurora commented.
I hummed.
There was no reason to be unhappy about things.
There were so many things to do, but it had been so long since I last enjoyed my company.
Worrying about things constantly has made me frustrated at even the most minor things, and I want to return to how I was before I found so many things.
I need to stop being wary of things out of my control.
If a situation is happening, I need to see if I can change it; if I can’t, I don’t need to worry about it anymore. I had too much on my plate and didn’t need to add more.
It took a one-hour self-introspection session, where I looked at the ceiling and pondered over everything.
I realized how I was losing the moments I was living because I was wasting precious time worrying about the future that I didn’t even know about.
Who knows if we will be alive tomorrow? Was it worth ruining our day thinking about it?
The least we can do is keep doing what our karma is and then enjoy the process. It has always been about the journey and not the actual goal.
What would be the use of winning if I were winning at the cost of my happiness? No one would even remember us when we all die.
It’s like, even if we succeed, we will have to die in the end. And as much as this statement sounds negative, it teaches us to live in the moment and appreciate the people around us, their efforts, and their time as they try to be happy with us.
Thus, it’s essential to surround yourself with people who have good values and can add value to your life and goals, who are ready to find happiness with you, and don’t lose hope.
’I am happy that you are so happy today. It fills me with joy knowing I am inside a human who knows not to give up on life and tries her best to live life,’ Aurora said.
I smiled at her before continuing my little dance. I was about to change the song when I felt Alina’s presence near me.
"Valencia," Alina looked at me with an innocent expression, and I raised my brows at her, stopping the song.
"What is it, Alina? Is something troubling you?" I asked, getting a little serious now.
"The mainland witches are here," Alina said.
I nodded at her.
"What about them?" I asked, taking a bite of the muffin I found in Maverick’s fridge.
"Won’t you meet them? The witches know about a lot of things. You can ask them about your curse," Alina said.
I scowled.
It wasn’t that I did not hear about the mainland witches being here, but remembering the last time they were here and how they called my Happy a threat to me, I didn’t want to allow them to badmouth people around me again.
"I think I will pass. If there is a cure to this curse-like thing and I am bound to live a better life, it will come to me. The universe will work and take me there sooner or later itself," I said.
Alina raised her brows.
I am sure she found it hard to believe I was the same Valencia saying such words when I have always been the kind to jump into trouble just out of curiosity because I like the sound of it.
"By the way, what are you doing here?" She sat on the sofa, picking up a random magazine.
I shrugged.
"Alpha Maverick will be back soon. I am waiting for him to help me train," I said honestly.
Though Tyler was being well taken care of, I had this feeling that he wasn’t going to sit still and would definitely try something against me.
I needed to be ready for that time.
"That’s a good thought," Alina said before glaring at Happy, who narrowed his eyes at her equally.
I swear these two will end up in a massive fight sooner or later.
"I still think you should go," Alina said helplessly, making me look at her suspiciously.
For a demon girl who has been running away from the witches and came to me with the same excuse after offending the witches, she was definitely quite pestering about me meeting the witches.
"Alina, be truthful to me. Are those the same witches you offended, and now they are after you? Have they been threatening you, and you want me to talk to them?"
Alina paused for a few seconds.
She kept looking into my eyes as if contemplating something, and I looked at Happy, who hooted towards me.
I narrowed my brows when he took the feather from the ink pod. I kept it there for him and started writing.
"She is cooking up a lie," Happy said, and I chuckled at his words.
I don’t really think she was lying to me in any matter, but I surely know she has been hiding quite a lot of stuff from me. Honestly, I didn’t know if I should be involved in matters that didn’t consult me and that I had no idea about.
"Will you tell me what’s going on?" I asked her about it, and she was about to speak when the doorbell of Maverick’s apartment rang.
"Someone is here," Alina said.
I hummed.
"Maverick must be here. Let me open the door for him," I said, narrowing my brows when I realized he could’ve just used the code to enter.
Why was he making me walk to the door uselessly?
"It’s not Alpha Maverick," Alina said.
It isn’t?
Then who was it?
"Do you want to stay or leave?" I asked her nonchalantly, walking to the door.
I was about to go near the door when I stopped.
It wasn’t Alpha Maverick. With the increasing attacks on me and that strange stalker keeping an eye on me, what were the chances it was someone who wanted to harm me?
"It’s a girl," Alina said as if she could feel and hear what I was thinking.
"I don’t feel any bad vibes from her, for now, but --" She paused.
"But?" I asked.
"You can open the door," Alina said, and before I could ask why she paused, she vanished, making me sigh.
Seriously, this girl needs to stop keeping me curious all the time.
Without thinking twice, I walked to the door and opened it, my left hand secured on the dagger on my waist, ready to strike if it was someone who wanted to harm me.
However, seeing the girl, who looked at me with the same kind of confusion I had on my face, I tilted my head.
"This is Maverick Aurelius’s apartment, right?" The girl asked me.
The girl was clearly a she-wolf, and I could sense her wolf, ready to attack at any possible threat.
But why did she call him by his name? Where were the honorifics? Could she think I was a human because she couldn’t sense my scent and wolf?
That could be the reason.
I saw her raking her gaze over me from head to toe, judgment clear in her eyes.
Her gaze was offensive, almost as if she disregarded me, and I didn’t like any second of it. Then again, I didn’t want to do anything or jump to any conclusions without knowing who exactly she was.
"He has gone outside for some time. You can come inside and wait for him," I said and walked back into the apartment.
However, I had taken only two steps when she held my elbow in a tight grip, forcing me to turn around to face her.
"I know he is out. He asked me to wait for him here. I want to know who you are and what are you doing here?" The girl asked me.
Her brown eyes started to turn a shade lighter, almost amber, and I knew her wolf wanted to take over to show her dominance.
I had many ways to shut her up and show her where she belonged. No matter how important she was to Maverick, she had no right to treat and look at me like I was some dirt staining this apartment.
Even if she was being cautious, there were many ways to do it without letting the person know about it.
