Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 220: Glacier of the southern city
Chapter 220: Glacier of the southern city
MAVERICK’S POV
"Alpha," Shadow looked at me with pleading eyes.
I paused.
Looking him straight in the eyes for a few seconds, I stood straight before humming.
Shadow deliberately took the crying kid out of the room, and I walked to the lady.
I let go of that kid because I knew better than to act like the monster these people are. They don’t care about anyone’s family or kids when attacking and hurting them, but if I act like that, too, what will be the difference between us?
’You did good,’ Reaper said.
I did well? He won’t have the same thoughts when I am done with this rogue.
Since I didn’t want to touch a lady inappropriately, I held her head between my hands.
"No! Alpha Maverick, you are going to—" the rogue started screaming, struggling against the ropes, and I smiled wickedly at him.
"So, will you tell me who did this and why?" I asked again.
The man gulped. He still hesitated. Even when his woman’s life was practically in my hands, he hesitated, and that was enough to tell me what he preferred.
If I had been in the place, I would’ve told anyone the most profound secrets to save Valencia, but I would never be there.
"You had your chance," I whispered.
Twist!
I twisted the head of the pleading lady, letting her lifeless body drop on the floor before looking at the rogue who raged.
"Alpha Maverick!" He shouted, and I smiled at him.
"Since you don’t have anything to tell us, keeping you alive is useless for me. But I assure you. I will bring you guys to this place one by one and kill each one of you with my bare hands," I said and walked to him.
Plunging my hand straight into his chest and grabbing his heart, squeezing it painfully, making his face contort in pure pain and agony, I was about to pull it out when he finally spoke.
"Glacier!" He practically screamed the name on my face, and I smirked.
"Where?" I asked.
"Southern city," He groaned, and I hummed.
"Well, you did good before dying," I said before pulling his heart out and dropping it beside his body.
"Prepare his body to be sent to the southern city. Send it anonymously, get a team to go there, and inform us how things are there. I need every single detail about how much ammunition they have collected and what kind of rogues they are," I said.
Shadow nodded his head.
Looking at the blood in my hands, I wiped my hands on a random tree before taking a deep breath.
"Alpha," Clark walked to me with a water bottle.
He helped me wash my hands, and I thanked him.
"You want to say something?" I raised my brows at him.
He cleared his throat before nodding briefly.
"I am sorry if my words sound triggering, but this is something that many people have been wondering about.
Miss Valencia is a rogue herself. The attacks have worsened since she came. What are the chances she is-" He paused.
He didn’t need to complete the sentence for me to understand what he wanted to say.
"Who said it?" I asked.
"Sir, they didn’t exactly say the words, but there -"
"She is your future, Luna. Does that clear all the doubts?" I asked him, and he froze for a second.
"Yes, sir," He said, and I hummed.
"Good," I walked away, feeling strangely irritated.
What was I supposed to think of others when my people thought that about my woman?
’But they aren’t exactly wrong. Despite being Luna’s daughter, she was still a rogue. As humans, they will definitely worry about themselves and their families,’ Reaper said.
I hummed.
It meant I needed to give Valencia a position soon.
"Sir, we have gotten the information on Glacier," Cole rushed to me, and I looked at the laptop in his hands.
I read the information about him, smirking slightly because the information looked strangely familiar.
It looks like my brother is still alive and licking the ass of the person with whose help he destroyed everything I cared about once.
But not this time, brother.
This time, you will die by my hands. I let you go once because I was weak at that time, and you were my family member, but if you are back to hurt my woman, you will have to face a side of me that I haven’t shown anyone before.
"Good. Ask Amelia to come and meet me at the apartment Valencia and I are living in. I’ll be there. Shadow, you come with me," I said to Shadow, who hummed and immediately got into the car with me.
"Where are we going, sir?" He asked.
"We are going to that one person who will be able to answer some of my questions. I heard they are in the state again," I said.
"Who is back in the state, sir?" Shadow asked.
I sighed.
I needed to meet those people I wanted to meet earlier but couldn’t because of the things working against me this time.
"The mainland witches," I said.
I remember the first time I saw them when I was 13 years old.
My father wanted to meet them. I remember how my mother was against meeting them because they sometimes speculate about the future, and most of the time, they do it when something is wrong.
My father had laughed at my mother at that time because he thought those were most rumors spread about them so no one would dare to meet them, just like how they are known to kill and hurt people who disturb their peace.
Though they were peace-loving, they weren’t really that bad.
At that time, the mainland witches had arrived to renew the Black River pact with my father because he was also the representative of the other alphas, as they didn’t dare to meet the witches.
Rather than going and meeting them in the caves, Father had invited them to our house even when no one dared to do things like that.
Inviting a witch to your home is like giving them a free pass to interfere in your life whenever they feel like it, and it’s doubtful they will come to your rescue.
Most of the time, they only bring havoc.
When the witches arrived at our home, our dad asked us to stay in our rooms while they conducted the meeting in the meeting room.
They had obligatorily asked the witches if they would like to have the super with us, and they agreed.
Our dad didn’t want me and my brother to meet the witches because their presence can be dominating in a way that leaves trauma to many people, the only reason why they stay out of civilization.
However, when my brother was playing games on the phone at that time, I snuck out of the room to see what they looked like.
I was a mischievous, naughty kid; maybe that’s why I can’t get angry at Valencia. She is naughty and wishful, just like I used to be. The responsibilities changed me, but I want to try my best to be capable enough not to let her inner child ever.
When I snuck out of my room, I hid behind a pillar at some distance to see the witches dining in the hall.
They were magnificent.
That was how I would describe them, but if I thought I could stay hidden for long, it was a mistake.
The witches immediately sensed my presence near them and one of them looked my way, but to my surprise, rather than calling me out, she just smiled at herself.
"Your son will have a lot to handle in life. He is the chosen one to handle the chaos of the world," the witch said.
My mom wasn’t happy about the speculation and asked the witches to stop speaking.
However, the witches just smiled in my direction.
"How unfortunate," they commented and didn’t say anything at all.
Now that I look at my life and how things turned out, I realize they were right. After my parents’ death and my mate and brother’s betrayal, I was left to handle the pack on my own, turning it into the best pack and taking on the title of the beast.
"Why did they return? They only come during winters over the Black River pact because of territorial rain, right? This is the second time they are coming here before their natural season," Shadow asked, and I sighed.
He was right.
It was a mystery even to me. Last time also, when they arrived, it was rumored they came because they were looking for someone.
Who were they looking for exactly? Was it someone we knew?
I shook my head and asked Shadow to drive towards the caves where they always appear, and the public is not allowed to go.
