Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 205: Missing her
Chapter 205: Missing her
ALPHA MAVERICK’S POV
She was gone.
It has been three hours since she left, and I haven’t been able to move from my place.
I was overreacting. I have been telling myself that for the past two hours, coaxing myself to work, but no matter how many times I tried, I just couldn’t move.
I gave orders to my team and sorted some deals over the phone, but after all that, I just couldn’t move from this dining table.
It was as if my heart was hopeful she would return to this same seat, hold my hand, and tell me she was just kidding and not leaving.
She didn’t leave me for long. It was just a mission. And for an alpha as strong as me who knew the vitality of such things, my heart was really making me feel pathetic.
But was it wrong to want someone like that? Was it wrong to crave someone’s presence so severely?
I looked at the seat where she was sitting and laughed for three consecutive days.
It was like a dream. When I think back in time, about all the moments we shared, how we loved each other, barely staying clothed so we could have easier access to each other, it almost felt like a honeymoon phase when it wasn’t even close to one.
I didn’t even allow her to wear a bra. I snapped her three bras until she gave up because this small piece of clothing was apparently expensive.
I chuckled, remembering the scowl on her face when I snapped her last bra so she wouldn’t wear one. She had looked at me like if I wasn’t helping her through her heat, she would’ve kicked my balls and risked my future generation without a care in the world.
Huh...
She looked divine in my shirt and her panties.
I never felt like I belonged anywhere until three days ago. It was quite amazing and surprising how things came so naturally between us, with zero hint of awkwardness, as if we were meant for each other.
However, if that was true, why didn’t the Moon Goddess pair us together? It would’ve saved us so much pain. We both got betrayed by our fated lovers and went through so much pain before finding each other.
Could it be that our pain and compassion for each other’s pain brought us together? Thinking about all these things was useless when we were already together. I belonged with her. She belonged with me.
I gazed at my phone for the umpteenth time, unsure if I should really call her.
Not being able to control my urges, I dialed her number, my heart slumping back into the pit of my chest when the call didn’t even go through.
Was she traveling by flight? Did that mean she was going somewhere far? The realization made me even sadder, and I sighed.
’Why don’t you ask Dylan what’s the matter? Even if they can’t tell us the exact details, they should be able to tell us where the mission is or if it’s risky. Also, after that, maybe you can coax them into letting her off these missions that risk her life and jeopardize our time together?’ Reaper said.
I thought about his suggestion. As weird as it sounded, I didn’t dislike it.
I have already declared her my future woman before all the alphas, and the council has known I have my eyes on her since the beginning. They wouldn’t have any problem laying her off if I paid them, right?
But what about Valencia? She wouldn’t enjoy such a decision without her permission, and the fear of hurting her always stopped me from deciding anything.
Seeing my phone vibrating with an incoming call, I picked it up.
"Hmm,"
"Sir, Amelia is back," Shadow said.
"What about her?" I asked.
"She wants to see you. She said something about reporting her findings about the rogues," Shadow said.
I hummed again.
I didn’t want to meet any woman at the moment, especially not a woman like Amelia, who has a little problem understanding boundaries.
After missing my woman so much, I was afraid I would end up snapping her neck if she dared step close to me in the name of friendship.
I might have been lenient toward her because she was a woman and my childhood friend, along with one of our best spies and female soldiers, but that didn’t mean I was stupid not to look into her actions.
I warned her earlier about maintaining space and distance between us because I wasn’t interested in her like that. But now that I had a woman in my heart for real, I had all the right to snap the woman’s neck if she even tried anything.
Having the blood of my childhood friend on my hand was the last thing on my mind when I was already losing my mind with Valencia’s absence.
"Who handles the team of spies, Shadow?" I asked, annoyed.
"That would be Paul for the year, sir," Shadow answered.
"And do I need to teach my Beta the basic reporting rules?" I asked.
"I am sorry, sir. I will ask her to submit the report to the team leader immediately. Also, the team that went to search for the red coral is returning. They couldn’t find it," Shadow answered, and I ended the call.
Where the hell was this Red Coral, exactly?
Shaking my head, I dialed Dylan’s number, waiting for him to pick up the call.
"Alpha Maverick," Dylan said in a neutral tone.
I paused. I didn’t know how to start my questions without sounding too eager.
"About Valencia, when will she be back?" I asked.
"I don’t know anything about her. In fact, please refrain from asking me about Valencia. I have no connection with that girl," Dylan said.
I quirked my brows.
What the hell was this man on? Has he taken some kind of intoxicating drug to sleep?
I looked at the time, and it wasn’t close to midnight. Do Council members become like this at night?
"I asked you a question," I started, and for the first time, Dylan lost his cool like that when talking on the phone.
"I said I don’t know! I fucking don’t know anything about her! I don’t know anything about what that stupid girl has been up to! She has done so much, and I didn’t know! What is that supposed to mean? She doesn’t even listen to me. I stopped her so many times, but she never listened to me. Am I even worthy of being the next council head?" Dylan asked, and I raised my brows.
Well, that was definitely my sign not to extend the call.
I ended the call with a sigh, feeling even more annoyed now that I couldn’t gather any information about her.
Left with no choice, I dropped a message for her so she would revert to me as soon as she saw it.
Missing her presence, I walked to her room.
Yes, though we never slept in different rooms for obvious reasons, as her heat phase started the next day she was here, I still gave her a separate room to have some kind of privacy, the privacy she didn’t believe in because her spy mind couldn’t stop suspecting me.
With a smile, I sat near her desk, furrowing my brows when I saw a few notes crumbling in the dustbin near the desk.
I picked one of the notes, and a smile appeared on my lips when I read its content.
’Uhhh... This son of a holy woman! Why can’t I resist him? Aurora doesn’t help either,’
The note said, and I furrowed my brows, amused.
Who was Aurora?
I picked up the other notes one by one and started reading them.
’It’s so unfair that he gets to use his handsomeness against me. Or an alpha never stands a chance against me,’
’Should I tell him? But I like him,’
My heart skipped a beat, remembering how she had confessed to me before leaving.
’You look beautiful today. It’s so unfair you are not with me,’
’Who is this guy who has been stalking me? It creeps me out. I can’t walk without looking over my back...uhh...it’s so frustrating,’
This note made me scrunch my nose in confusion.
Wait.
I opened the previous note again and read the sentence, which had different handwriting. It was definitely not a coincidence that the writing matched perfectly with the note I received twice when I was with Valencia.
Was that the reason she was so curious about when I received the note previously?
She has been receiving such notes herself, just not the threatening ones.
Someone was stalking her, but when was it?
She has been wondering what the hell this guy wanted from her, but the reason was so obvious. Was this guy infatuated with her? Why would he call her beautiful and then warn me twice, both times when I crossed a line with Valencia?
Taking the notes she wrote about me, I placed them in the file before calling Shadow.
I have been taking this matter too lightly, but it looks like I have to take some action today.
