Chapter 194: The dark presence in the air
THIRD PERSON’S POV
At the same time, when everything was happening on Earth, a few angels sat around a round table, playing tarot cards, a game invented by humans to predict the future, which was just so-so because they decided what would happen to anyone.
"So it really happened," Kelly said, and the rest looked at her in question.
The sentence came entirely out of the blue, and it confused them.
"What is that supposed to mean?" Alisha asked, her brown eyes observing Kelly suspiciously.
Kelly was the least spoken person in their groups and seldom spoke about anything; however, whenever she said something, it happened, which was a little worrying for everyone.
Kelly lifted her lashes and tucked her golden hair behind her ears before standing from her place. She raised her right hand towards the sky and swiped the air a little.
"The thing we were hoping for shouldn’t have happened. She went into heat, and unfortunately, due to the turnout of events, she self-harmed to bleed," Kelly said.
The angels looked at the screen with a curious expression and saw Valencia running inside the forest with blood dripping from her hands, covering the entire forest in her scent.
Their pupils dilated as they realized what was happening– The scent of the elixir drops that was enough to awaken the devil from the dead was finally here.
"Well, shouldn’t we be stopping it from happening?" One of the low-tier angels who had become a part of the group recently asked with fear in her eyes.
Alisha turned to the little angel with a bit of annoyance and was about to reprimand her for interrupting with something she had no idea about when Kelly said softly.
"Little girl, the first and foremost rule of being an angel includes not interfering in the moon deity’s plans. If she designed something like this to happen, she did it for a reason. We are only her messengers and doers. We do what she tells us to and guard and guide whoever she wants to protect. If she wanted us to interrupt, we would’ve received the order," Kelly said.
The little girl looked at Valencia, who stumbled onto a rock because of how restless she was, bleeding even more.
She wasn’t running alone. Alpha Tyler wasn’t too behind as he wanted to catch her.
"Alisha, should we really not do anything? What if the deity meditates and doesn’t know what’s happening with her children? Besides, let’s not forget that the human is the bearer of the ancient wolf. Are we going to ignore it? This is her last chance, too. Even if we don’t have anything to do with the humans, the wolf is a part of the moon goddess’s favorite ancient souls," Samiosa asked.
Alisha shook her head.
"The world will stop working if the ultimate energy goes into meditation and stops looking over her children. She knows exactly what’s happening, and her silence should be a message for us to stay put. Besides, we are not the only ones involved. Those Witches on earth know they need to protect her because they are the first species that would be in danger if the devil arose in them. Their ancestors were the ones who helped put him to sleep in the first place," Alisha said, and everyone nodded their heads.
No one said anything, but they could feel it in the air. Something terrible was happening somewhere. Even if they couldn’t feel it because of how subtle it was and the hell’s department wasn’t under their jurisdiction, they could feel the air on Earth shift a little.
The devil was indeed rising, and there was nothing they could do to stop it from happening apart from watching it with helpless eyes until the moon goddess gave them enough powers and permission to interfere.
The angels weren’t the only ones who were put at unease.
The witches on the earth could also feel the shift in the air and knew something terrible happened.
Sitting on the cliff of one of the mountains collecting magna, Alina opened her eyes when she felt the man’s presence behind her.
"What’s wrong?" She asked, surprised by his untimely and uninvited presence again.
"What’s wrong? Do you not realize what’s wrong? Have you forgotten what you are here for?" The man asked.
Alina scrunched her brows.
"I know what I am here for. You don’t need to come repeatedly to remind me –" She couldn’t even complete her sentence when the man interrupted her.
"Is that so? How can I not come here to do the job and remind you when you are doing a pathetic job? How can I-" Before the man could complete his sentence, Alina raised her hand and slapped him across the face.
The man stood there shocked.
"Even if you are asked to keep a lookout on me, don’t forget I am still your princess. Watch your tone when you talk to me," Alina said, her eyes red, and the man glared at her.
"Very well, you haven’t done what was told, but I can see her attitude is rubbing well on you. You are learning great things with her. I don’t want to talk about it. Let’s talk about the job you think you are doing well," the man paused and was about to add more when Alina raised her hand to ask him to stop speaking.
She looked around herself. Was it just her, or was the air suddenly turning dark and complex to breathe?
"Where is Valencia?" Alina asked at once, and the man gritted his teeth.
"She went into heat, and she bled. You were supposed to stay close to her during this period to ensure she didn’t end up bleeding. But it looks like you don’t even know she went into her heat in the first place," The man said, and Alina gasped.
Has she bled already? Was it because of Alpha Maverick? Did they make out, and he marked her? But she had already sent the letter to the council to inform them Valencia must not bleed in her heat under any circumstances, especially a self-harm chosen by herself.
He immediately scoffed as if the man knew what she was thinking.
"It wasn’t because of their mating. They knew not to let it happen after being warned like that. It happened because they failed to tighten the security and because that bastard Tyler got to her, which I must mention was your duty to ensure nothing like that happens," the man said.
Guilt immediately consumed her heart, and she felt like the biggest fool.
