Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 186: Be his what?
Chapter 186: Be his what?
VALENCIA’S POV
"WHAT THE HELL?!" I growled before turning around swiftly when I smelt the familiar scent wafting through my nostrils.
Gazing into the wolf’s amber eyes staring back at me with a mixture of emotions, I didn’t know what to say.
Why was he here now? Was there something he wanted to tell me that he couldn’t do earlier? I scoffed inwardly as he hovered over me, trapping me between his paws.
He just kept looking at me, not saying anything. It was as if he was trying to lock my image into his mind or something in his wolf form, and it was getting uncomfortable.
"Get away from me," I said, keeping my voice neutral and hiding my anger at his actions earlier.
Honestly, he didn’t do anything, but I was hurt because he just stood there and did nothing.
He should’ve taken my side, or that was what I wanted to inform my heart.
He is the one who always goes around telling me and the council brothers that I belong to him or how serious he is for me; then how could he not stop me and tell me that he didn’t hate that fact about me?
Why didn’t he hold my hand to tell me it was okay to be sad and frustrated and that he would never judge me for my past?
I accepted his past right as it was. I never questioned what had happened between his mate and him. Could he not have given me that chance?
All this nonsense stuff when he doesn’t even know I am a rogue.
The moment he knows I am a rogue, all these efforts he was trying to put into will be gone, and I will be nothing for him.
Wait. I am wrong. I would probably be a person worth hating. Isn’t that what he has been trying to fit into his brain since earlier? That he hates rogues and won’t tolerate them?
Should I be going to stay here and let him humiliate me for something that wasn’t even my fault?
What for? I have always told myself I will prioritize myself and my emotions, but time after time, I let people hurt me. Give them the knife, and then trust them unquestioningly.
Tears brimmed into my eyes at the thought of how I would be called a fool again. And now that I messed with the strongest alpha, things would be different.
I looked away from him, shifting my gaze towards the forest where that previous rogue wolf had run off. I didn’t want to look into his eyes anymore.
His eyes have told me many lies. This might just be my overthinking, but he hasn’t done anything to stop me from doing it, either.
He said I was his and liked me, but I don’t think he is ready for me. After suffering so much, I am in no way hell prepared to get into a relationship with an emotionally immature person. I don’t want to baby someone into making him learn how to care for the person he likes.
This is something that should come naturally, and I believe if you like someone, you won’t have to ask anyone how to do it now, no matter your busy schedule or powerful, cold nature.
It was a basic instinct that even animals had, let alone humans.
"Rrrr," The wolf growled at me, forcing me to look into his eyes.
I looked at him with a helpless glare, trying to keep my thoughts to myself and not let him know what was happening inside my head.
As I kept looking at him, I realized that Reaper was in control, and he wasn’t giving Maverick control over communicating with me either.
"What do you want to say to me? I turned out to be an utter disappointment. Has your alpha ego been hurt?" I pushed him away with all the strength I could muster.
Dusting the dust from my clothes, I stood from my place before glaring at the wolf.
"I want to say something to you, my moonshine," Reaper’s cold voice reverberated. His chocolaty voice still made my knees want to go weak even when I was angry at him.
How dare he call me moonshine after all this?
"What is it?" I asked, ready to hear all the words about what he thought of me and what I turned out to be.
However, what he said next made me freeze in my place.
"I want you to be my Luna," He said.
To say I was surprised would be an understatement.
"Look, if you think this is funny, it’s not. You have lost your mind. This isn’t something worth playing with," I commented after gaining control over my thoughts.
He surely has a funny way of kidding about things.
"I am not!" He growled at me.
"Well, a rogue can’t be your Luna!" I growled back, and he paused.
I realized what I said and quickly looked away, not wanting to see the judgmental look in his eyes.
I was ready to dash in another direction once again to save myself some face when his words stopped me.
"And well, it’s too late for the truth. I have fallen for this rogue and want her," Reaper said.
What did he say? I squinted my brows at him, something flipping in my stomach, and I gulped.
"I am sure Maverick disagrees," I said, nipping at my nails, not sure what to say anymore when he looked at me with this kind of assurance.
Besides, wolves are one part of us that doesn’t easily give in to human emotions and lies. They are truthful about what they feel and trustworthy most of the time.
Does that mean he really feels that?
’What do you think of what he is saying, Aurora?’ I asked my wolf, who, for once, had no excitement radiating from her aura.
Usually, she is the one who hypes me the most when it comes to things related to Maverick.
This also made me realize that she has been awfully quiet since earlier. What exactly is going on inside her head?
I bit my lips, feeling a little unsure myself.
’I don’t approve,’ Aurora said after a long time, her words surprised me.
