VALENCIA’S POV

’Aurora, what the hell was that?’ I couldn’t help but ask my wolf as we were left alone in Maverick’s apartment since he had something urgent to attend to.

If Maverick hadn’t stopped me, it was almost as if I had no control over my body and mind. I was moving forward with those feelings, going as far as taking off my bra.

How could I do something like that so brazenly? The heat and the emotions I felt at that time were...if Maverick had asked me to take off my pants and spread my legs, I would’ve done it in a heartbeat.

"You are one naughty woman, Valencia," I told myself as I looked at my reflection before sighing.

Feeling anxious, I walked around, looking at things Maverick was working on.

Seeing the call from an unknown number, I pursed my lips.

"Hello," I said.

"Miss spy," The man on the other side, hearing the strangely familiar voice, looked at the number before humming.

"Who is it?" I asked.

"It fills me with sorrow and regret that I couldn’t leave an impression on you, Miss Spy. You have forgotten about me like the messenger bottle thrown into the sea," the man said, and I scowled.

Who was this moron seriously? Acting as if he was some kind of royalty that I should remember and -

What if he is indeed royalty? Didn’t Dylan say something like the Prince wanted me to do the task of spying on Alpha Maverick?

"Prince Ethan?" I asked.

There was a pause on the other side for a few seconds before I heard a sigh.

"Well, I am glad you finally remembered. My heart almost sunk at the possibility of you forgetting about me completely," He said, and I rolled my eyes.

Definitely. It was my fault, indeed. How could I forget about such a brutal personality?

I mean, I don’t want to sound mean, but must the royals talk like they are some superior beings?

Isn’t their aura and power enough to let everyone know who they are? Must they speak this fake way?

They are definitely the kind of people who say we don’t cuss and act all high and mighty but, when placed in a situation, are the first ones to lash out.

"What business do you have with me, Prince Ethan? I have already submitted the file and resignation with the project. No, the recognition of the royals doesn’t interest me either," I said, annoyed.

"Why is that? I have heard of your work and your achievements. You are in the area; what is stopping you?" he asked, and I sighed.

The call ended, and I was about to reply to Prince Ethan when he called again. I knew something was up, or he wouldn’t have called me repeatedly like this.

I pursed my lips into a thin line, my brain not draining to come up with an idea to dismiss the prince.

"Because I like his body type. I am planning on seducing him," I said when I couldn’t come up with anything.

There was silence on the other side, and I am sure the prince was surprised by my words. I was, too, but I wanted to end this conversation.

"I see. It’s interesting," He said, and I massaged my forehead in annoyance.

"That’s because you haven’t seen mine yet," he said, and my pupils dilated.

Wait. Did I hear it right? Did he say that just now?

"What?" I asked, and he cleared his throat.

"What I mean to say is, we can meet again after the Alphas meeting because I know the council members are busy. I will be in the Alphas meeting, too, though," he said before ending the call.

I looked at my phone, a little unsure.

What was that all about?

I shuddered at the thought before picking up the call immediately when Tory called again.

"I’m sorry. I was talking to an annoying person. What is it?" I asked at once.

"Well, I have a piece of bad news," he said, and I closed my eyes.

Right. Why did I expect it to be something good? I sighed and nodded, preparing myself for the bad news.

"I am ready to hear it. Tell me," I said.

"You have some persistent stalkers behind you," He said, and I furrowed my brows.

What did he mean by that?

"First, we were informed you have a stalker who is keeping a lookout for all your actions. One of our men reported to us, and he has gone missing ever since," he said, making my heart skip a beat.

What did he mean by that? Wasn’t he being too vague with that?

"And second, this alpha Tyler is a tough nut indeed. We were looking for the pack you requested and didn’t know when he slipped. He must be on his way to the pack already," he said, and I froze in my place, the smile faltering from my lips.
