Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna
Chapter 170: Who was Aiden?

Chapter 170: Who was Aiden?

THIRD PERSON’S POV

"What the hell were you thinking?" A woman asked as she slapped the man before him, making his head whip to the side because of the impact.

The man massaged his jaws with an angry expression but didn’t say anything to rebuke her.

"I am sorry," he said.

The woman laughed at him without any humor.

"You are not sorry at all. If you were sorry, you wouldn’t have made that mistake in the first place. Do you even know how you have risked your identity now?" The woman asked.

The man glared at her, the anger in his eyes evident.

"Do you think I fucking care about my identity? Our job isn’t to keep our identities hidden. Our job is to protect Valencia. She was about to get busted by that alpha. Of course, I had to intervene, and I would do it all over again," The man said.

The woman looked at him with pursed lips.

"You don’t get it, Aiden, do you? If I hadn’t arrived and removed that belt from around you, the alpha wolves would’ve found you. Do you have any idea how risky it was? He could’ve killed you," the woman said, and Aiden raked his hand through his hair.

"That’s a part of the job. I can’t stop just because I find it risky. You should be happy that I was roaming the forests right then because I had to shift, or Valencia would’ve turned back into her human form right before the alpha, and he would’ve found out about her secret," Aiden said.

The woman sighed. He was talking as if this didn’t worsen their situation.

She shook her head before dialing a number.

"What are you doing?" Aiden asked.

"Don’t you understand it? I will call our boss who appointed us here. She needs to know what’s happening here," the woman said.

Aiden’s eyes widened, and he quickly snatched the phone from her hand.

"Have you lost your mind? It will land me in trouble, and they will call me back," he seethed.

The woman shrugged at him.

"Sounds like a ’you’ problem to me," she scoffed.

Aiden squared his jaws. He didn’t want to leave this place when he was getting attached to things and people here. He knew it was wrong of him, and he was just supposed to focus on his mission, which included keeping an eye on Valencia and protecting her whenever her identity was in trouble, but could he help it?

It was true. Everything was pre-planned, including how she first met Valencia, how she ended up saving him and punching him, and how he ended up at her University.

They planned everything to keep her under observation.

It was amazing that the wolves couldn’t catch up with them yet, but unlike wolves, who need to shift frequently and can’t control their emotions, the shapeshifters were different.

That was how he could hide himself so well for so long.

"If you want to stay here and continue doing your job, you better not make a mistake again, or I will send you back," the woman said.

Aiden looked at the back of the leaving woman and couldn’t control his anger at the pure insult; he was a prime jaguar shifter as his primary animal. He was bound to have that kind of ego and attitude, and this woman just hurt it.

"Don’t threaten me so much. You have no idea what I might end up doing. I wonder what kind of reaction Valencia would have when she would know what you are," Aiden asked.

The woman stopped walking and stood there before she half-turned her body.

A smirk appeared on her face.

"Did you just threaten me?" She asked, and Aiden shrugged.

"Did I?" He asked.

However, what she did next wiped the smirk off his face immediately.

She clenched her fists, and as soon as she did that, Aiden felt an excruciating pain take over his brain, making him fall to his knees immediately.

"What the hell?!" He shouted, and the woman shrugged.

"Before showing your so-called animalistic anger to someone, just think twice. The person you are showing it to is much stronger than you. Don’t let me see that attitude again," The woman warned him before she turned around and left.

Aiden clenched his fists, the pain subsiding slowly before he took a deep breath.

Alpha Maverick took Valencia away, and he was sure he heard the distant sound of glass breaking at a distance.

And the Alpha team looked like they were trying to find someone... Something happened in the forest. But what could it be? He wondered.

At the same time, in the Hazel Moon Pack, Alpha Tyler sat on the seat, a smirk playing on his lips as he looked at the shirt in his drawer, the same shirt that had the fragrance of Valencia and the aftermath of her actions when she had stabbed him.

It was pretty refreshing. Seeing her hesitating even through the messages felt good.

It only depicted that he still had some control over her, and the thought alone was enough to fill him with joy.

It’s just just one week. He would go to the alphas’ meeting in one week and meet her again. Well, it’s not necessary to leave right on time. He can leave early to meet her, but he can’t exactly leave the pack with the council members appearing in the pack repeatedly.

He sighed and was about to take his phone out to message Valencia because he was starting to crave teasing her when his office door opened, and he closed the door instinctively.

Matilda, who walked inside the office and saw him closing the drawer, furrowed her brows.

"What were you doing?" She asked.

Tyler looked at her, his expression neutral as he locked the drawer.

"I don’t remember when I was answerable to you," He said.

It was the same sentence all over again. Whenever she asked him anything, he replied with this, and it was starting to get on her nerves.

"I heard you told the council that you were thinking of ending the investigation," Matilda changed the topic, and Tyler hummed.

When he said nothing further, Matilda walked to him and sat in the chair before him.

"Can I ask why?" She asked.

"No," Tyler said, tilting his head at her.

His expression was unreadable, as always, making things hard for Matilda because she couldn’t read his thoughts or what he was planning.

"Why are you suddenly so cold to me, alpha Tyler? Things weren’t like this earlier," Matilda said.

She remembered him loving her and being a gentleman with her when Valencia used to stay here. He indeed chose her over her sister, but did she really win?

Why are things looking different these days? It was almost like the man who used to like her, be gentle with her, and ask her to have sex with him repeatedly nearly every day because he told her how hard it was to live without it were two different people.

Could it be really possible?

"Is that so? I don’t know what’s wrong with my behavior," Tyler said.

Matilda looked at him helplessly, her fists clenched under the table.

"Leave it. Tell me why you want to stop the investigation. It was our engagement that got spoiled. We have been waiting for this time for so long, and it couldn’t happen," Matilda said.

When she observed that the man did not react to her words, she changed the flow of the conversation and included something he would definitely care about as an alpha.

"It isn’t just about the event. So many lives were risked, and your reputation has been tainted, too. Do you not care about it at all? Or could it be that you already know who is behind this attack but don’t want that person to get punished?"

Tyler, who was pretending to read a file, looked at her with raised brows.

"What are you trying to imply here?" He asked.

Matilda sighed helplessly. Anxiousness filled her heart. Never in her life has she felt insecure about anything, and definitely not when it came to Valencia, at least not in the last four years, but suddenly, it almost felt like she was losing her grip on everything.

"You know what I am talking about," Matilda gritted her teeth.

"And I hope you know we have had this conversation before. So until and unless you are trying to waste my time, I don’t see why this topic is brought up again," Tyler said.

Matilda took a deep breath.

"All I am trying to say is that you shouldn’t end the investigation. You at least need some explanation for jeopardizing the security and risking the lives of the alpha. You will go to the Alphas meeting in a week. Do you think people won’t talk about it?" Matilda asked.

Tyler looked at the woman before dismissing her.

"I will think of something. You don’t need to worry about it -" Tyler couldn’t finish his sentence when Matilda clenched her fists and stood.

Her gaze was full of rage.

"You keep telling me not to worry when your actions are completely opposite. How can I not worry when I am not your fiance, wife, or Luna and am already pregnant with your pup?" Matilda raised her voice, unleashing the anger inside her.
