Chapter 169: Only to warn

ALPHA MAVERICK’S POV

Delighted. That wasn’t even a word to describe what I was feeling.

However, I was frustrated too because it took every ounce of patience inside me not to pull Valencia’s pants down and drink her heavenly juices that I was sure would’ve taken me ecstasy.

I looked at her peaceful sleeping face as she lay on the bed with her hands wrapped around mine.

I don’t know what’s been bothering her. It may be related to her identity or something else, but she looked pretty resolute when she said she wanted to leave. Now, apart from keeping a lookout for the rogues because of the alphas’ meeting, I will have to keep a lookout for her, too, so she doesn’t slip from under my clutches.

"Sleep tight, my love," I pecked her lips gently before rising from the bed.

Hearing another tapping sound on the door, I sighed.

My team was already here, and I needed to talk to them about what happened, or there was no way I would’ve left Mitsuki’s side alone.

Walking downstairs with large strides because I wanted to get this over with so I could return to my love and tease her more when she woke up, I opened the door and looked at Shadow, who was looking away.

"I know, sir," he said, confusing me.

"What do you mean?" I asked, feeling confused.

"We...uh... I heard you. I mean, I heard her... Her screams," Shadow blushed like a teenage girl, barely whispering the last word, and I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Who told you to come this close to the house? I asked, and he apologized immediately.

I didn’t like how my woman’s explicit, sweet voice was heard by someone else other than me. Then again, it was my fault. I should have taken the proper measures.

With a sigh, I massaged my forehead.

"I wanted to show you the weapon used to attack you. Probably the person who attacked you was in a hurry to leave and didn’t even take the bow with him," Shadow said.

I looked at the bow placed on a white cloth at some distance, wanting to inspect it.

With the way I had tied him with such a suffocating grip, he couldn’t have slipped from under the belt, not unless someone else came and untied him.

I closed my eyes.

The alpha meet was near, and all these Mysterious things were surely hurting my head.

"This is the second time we’ve seen him in the forests, right?" I asked, and he nodded.

"It could be a shapeshifter, for all we know," Shadow suddenly said.

His words definitely piqued my curiosity.

So even the rogues were sure this was a girl.

The last time I heard Carl and Dylan talking, weren’t they talking about something like V causing a stir in the rogue world again?

Whoever this person was, I really wanted to meet her.

Just who was this, who had taken the responsibility of killing rogues in her hands? The most amazing part was that she was a lone wolf. I have never heard of anyone accompanying V.

This makes me believe that there was probably no one who had seen the girl in the first place.
