Chapter 161: Free beer

VALENCIA’S POV

I closed my eyes and danced to the beats of the songs, letting my body flow to the music and its tune.

I was well aware of what happened last time I was here and how I almost got into a fight with humans, and even though I was dressed decently, I limited my actions, ensuring I was around my group of friends only.

Though I wasn’t afraid of getting into a fight this time either because those jerks deserved every blow I landed on their face, I was definitely wary of hurting these humans and breaking some bones that would give people like Dylan and Maverick something more to hold against me.

I know I said I wasn’t the party kind of person, but I needed this to eliminate the feeling that someone was watching me.

And if I needed to stay with my friends because I was sure no one would dare to do anything when I was with them, I needed to dance, too.

I even contemplated calling Dylan to pick me up for a second because I didn’t want to ride back alone. It was just a moment; the feeling was strong, but it disappeared immediately when I remembered how I had always fought my battles alone.

After what felt like an eternity but consisted of three songs, Aiden tapped my shoulders, and we moved to the bartender to get some drinks.

I wasn’t a light drinker. These alcohol and drinks don’t really affect us werewolves much since we have high tolerance and metabolism, not to mention it would take a lot of alcohol to make us drunk.

"How much?" I asked the bartender for the beer bottle while the others were taking shots and other alcoholic stuff.

I chuckled at Tracy, who was already acting all wobbly just from dancing.

"0," The bartender said, catching my attention.

I furrowed my brows at him before looking at him amused.

"Are you flirting with me?" I asked with a smile.

He was a cute human, no lies. But definitely not my type.

He chuckled at my words.

"You are beautiful, miss, but I am not flirting with you. Someone already paid your bills," He said.

This made me look at Aiden, who raised his hands in defense to tell me he wasn’t the one who had done it.

"But I didn’t even order anything before. How can someone pay for me already?" I asked, confused.

The bartender smiled.

"Well, the guy gave us a few hundred dollar bills and said to give whatever you want and cut the money from it. If the money is left or you don’t use it, we are to return it to him or just keep it as a tip if he doesn’t return," the bartender explained.

It means I wasn’t just presuming things. Someone here is indeed watching me.

I looked around myself, trying to locate anyone who could look suspicious, but with everyone busy in their own little world and dim lights making it hard to read anyone’s face, it was nearly possible.

Shaking my head, I looked at the bartender again, asking him if he could describe the man or what he was wearing so I could thank him.

"I am not sure. He was wearing black from head to toe, a cap that partially covered his face," he said, and I clenched my jaws.

His description resembled the man who came to the cafe and left me with that hefty tip.

What was this man trying to do? If he was trying to gain my attention, he definitely had it. I needed him to stop doing this because it was indeed creepy.

What was his intentions behind all this? Even thinking about it was making my head crazy.

"Are you okay?" Aiden placed his hand on my shoulders.

I shook my head at him. I wasn’t okay, and I didn’t have any intentions to pretend to be one.

"I need some time," I said before taking six more beer bottles.

"Six? Are you okay?" the bartender asked me, shifting his gaze to Aiden as if to ask whether I would be able to take it or not.

"What are you looking at him for? If I ask for it, you give it to me," I said.

The bartender nodded his head and brought out the six bottles.

Without thinking much, I drowned three bottles of them. I didn’t just drown them; I chugged them like there was no tomorrow.

"Hey, take it easy. I think you need to come home with me," Aiden said as he took the fifth bottle from my hands, which annoyed me.

’Valencia, for real, what are you trying to do? You don’t like alcohol, nor do you like the feeling of being dizzy or the booze. Why are you doing this to yourself?’ Aurora asked me, and I shrugged.

Why was I doing this? I was pretending to be a human and trying what it feels like to drown your sadness with the booze.

I have so many things to be drunk for.

As I closed my eyes after jerking my hand away from Aiden’s, I took a little sip, thinking about all the things I had gone through since morning that had led to this.

I should be happy because my exams are over and sad because Maverick hates rogues passionately. I should be glad that Dylan is always with me and sad because I found out all the torture I bore for so long was for nothing.

I should be happy that I had such good friends around me as Happy and Alina, but sad because I had a psychotic alpha on my tail who wanted to make things complicated for me.

I should have been happy that I got such a heavy tip on my work, and now my booze was for free. I was sad because someone was following me, and I didn’t know what kind of intentions they held against me.

A sigh left my mouth as I thought about everything, feeling a headache.

"I need to pee," I said to Aiden, pushing the sixth bottle in his hand before standing and walking towards the women’s washroom.

As soon as I entered the washroom, I saw a couple in a slightly awkward position. Already annoyed with everyone, I just glared at them.

"Scarm! This is a public place. Have some dignity and find a room," I said, and the girl immediately dressed up hurriedly along with the man as they rushed out of the washroom.

After relieving myself, I looked at my reflection in the mirror.

This wasn’t it. Aurora was right.

Why was I letting these people, these outside people, decide what kind of mood I should have? I was being harsh on myself.

Rather than treating myself poorly, I should instead go to the culprits and teach them a lesson. How dare they make me feel like this? How dare they act like that with me?

Tyler would definitely be dealt with. I didn’t know who this man following me was. I also had no idea about my pack, and since I didn’t know about that, I couldn’t do anything about it.

But there was one person I could definitely take my revenge from.

Maverick Aurelius, I will make sure that you regret saying such words to me today. I squared my jaws, nodding my head at myself.

I walked out of the club and told Aiden to drop me off at my apartment so he wouldn’t have to worry about my safety. Once I was there, I started my mission to make Maverick’s night eventful.
