Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 138: Not a real demon
Chapter 138: Not a real demon
THIRD PERSON’S POV
The man massaged his forehead.
He didn’t know if sending Alina here was the best decision anymore.
She was already mischievous as she was but now after this mission or whatever she calls it, she was turning into even more of a headache.
She was doing what she wasn’t supposed to do for sure, and if the higher-ups heard about it, he would surely get into a problem on her behalf because it was his duty to keep a look out for her.
"Alina, I understand that you want to protect Valencia for our ultimate cause and keep her safe because she would be used for something entirely different that they can’t even think about, but must you do all this and risk our positions?" The man asked.
Alina, who was walking towards the exit of the forest, scoffed at the man.
"I don’t think my position is exactly in trouble. You should worry about yourself," She grinned and he sighed.
Wasn’t that exactly his point?
"What have you decided to do next? What if the demons come to know about it? About you?" He asked.
This time Alina indeed stopped.
She was dreading thinking about this one topic and didn’t know how to address it herself. That was the whole reason she kept herself close to Valencia to distract herself from thinking the inevitable.
The demons will find out about it sooner or later, that there was someone out there who was imposing them and ruining their name by acting cute in front of a werewolf. What will she do at that time?
Then again, it was more important for her to act as this one particular species because she knew they would be coming for Valencia as soon as her powers and wolf were unleashed.
That’s why she wanted Valencia to be trustworthy enough to tell her as soon as she met a real demon so she would be able to handle it for her.
"Don’t bother me about it. I can’t stop the inevitable. I will come up with a solution when it happens," Alina said and the man hummed, knowing all too well that the princess, though acting cool about it, was equally anxious.
He didn’t say anything for some time and just walked behind her.
As he started to see the clearing in front of them, he finally held her hand to stop her.
"Don’t get too involved in this matter. I don’t want any harm to come towards you either. You definitely need to stop burning people and places if you want to stay low. Do you get it?" The man asked her.
Alina nodded as he pulled her in for a hug. She closed her eyes for a second relishing the moment as she sighed, letting her heart calm down.
It felt like home after such a long time.
Rubbing her cheeks on his chest, she looked up at him expectantly and the man smiled at her cute behavior before leaning forward and kissing her forehead.
"I will always be lurking around. Just a call away. Okay?" He asked and as soon as Alina nodded her head, he vanished into thin air, making her sigh and feel his loss immediately.
Not wanting to dwell on the feelings, she used her powers to cross the long distance and appeared right behind Alexis’s apartment building where no one was there.
She looked up at the floor where her apartment was and furrowed her brows when she didn’t feel anyone’s presence.
Were they not home? She squinted her brows when she felt the presence of Carl but it was full of sadness.
Thinking something bad might’ve happened, she didn’t waste a second and appeared right in front of the apartment when she saw no one was there.
As soon as she entered the apartment, she could feel the cold and sad vibes covering it and walked to Carl without hesitancy.
"Where is Valencia?" She asked.
Carl, who wasn’t expecting anyone after Dylan and Alpha Maverick left to look for Valencia, not taking him with them because of the mistake he made, shook in his place as he looked at the lady.
He knew if she found out why it happened, she would probably burn the entire place, but after thinking everything through and realizing how wrong he indeed was, he couldn’t care about anything anymore.
He sat on the couch with a sad expression before telling her everything that he did.
He expected her to light the entire hall on fire and was ready to burn in his guilt, but to his surprise, rather than acting on instinct like this woman had done since he met her, she sat beside him before holding his hand in hers.
"I am sure you were quite anxious when you did it. You care for her. I have felt that and Valencia knows it too. That’s the reason, rather than bickering with you, she left because she didn’t want you to suffer with her even more," Alina said comfortingly.
Carl shook his head. He didn’t deserve any kind of comfort after he said those mean words to Valencia.
What she did was wrong, probably she has been moody and out of line most times, but he had no right to call her on her dark past. He didn’t know most of it but when he heard Dylan and Uncle Jonathan talk about how cruel they were, starving her for weeks, even using hot iron on her to punish her, trying to drown her because it was fun for those teenagers, he had no right to remind her of it.
And she was right. Despite everything she suffered, she was probably handling her life the best she could by not giving a shit about anything. It wasn’t her fault that she was special to them.
She lived the last four and half years of her life, bearing shit, so what was wrong about letting go a little?
"I don’t need any coaxing, Alina. I know I am wrong. It’s...it’s so hard to look at myself in the mirror after I said those words to her. God forbid, if something happened to her, I won’t be able to look myself in the eyes," Carl said.
Alina pressed her lips into a thin line.
She tried to feel where Valencia might’ve gone, but the fact that she couldn’t feel it despite how many times she tried was surely alarming.
Valencia wasn’t the kind of girl to throw tantrums. She has observed her for quite long to believe that. Then what exactly could be the reason for her to go to a place where magic wasn’t possible?
Alina sighed and looked at Carl, who was bellowing in self-pity.
"Everything happened because of that fire in the Hazel Moon Pack. I blamed her for that and when she denied it, I didn’t believe her and thought why would anyone else do this? That was the beginning of -" Carl started in anger, but before he could complete his sentence, Alina interrupted him.
"I did it," Alina said, her words surprising Carl, who looked at her in confusion.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
Alina stood from her place and shrugged her shoulders as if it didn’t matter at all. As if what she did wasn’t too big of a matter.
"I heard you guys talking about it. You were asking Valencia repeatedly if she was sad about Alpha Tyler’s engagement with her sister who backstabbed her. I heard what happened and how sad she was that those scums were happy while she was suffering like this.
Since she wasn’t doing anything, I couldn’t just stand there and see her tormentors being happy. So I did it. I was the one who lit that place on fire," Alina said, not even an ounce of regret on her face.
Carl looked at her amazed and anxious at the same time.
"But you were here all the time," He said, remembering that she had indeed gone missing after Valencia took her to the training session and when she went out of the training session to go to the meeting with the prince, wasn’t that exactly when-
Carl shook his head.
"How could you put the lives of so many people at risk?" He asked her.
Aline smiled.
"If I really wanted to burn those people alive, I can assure you Carl, nothing would’ve been able to stop me. I just wanted to raise a little damage and I did it," Alina smiled, making Carl realize how dangerous this girl could be.
At the same time in the Hazel Moon Pack, Tyler sat in his office thinking about everything. Rather than being remorseful about having his engagement destroyed like this, a small smile was playing on his lips.
First Valencia attacked him when he met her to show her anger and now this destruction of his engagement...
Everything was hinting at the same thing.
Despite how strong and nonchalant she was appearing, the girl still had feelings for him, and the thought alone was enough to fill him with joy.
Now that he has seen how strong she has gotten, should he call her back? Tyler smirked as he smelt the shirt he had stuffed in his drawer to smell her faint scent on it.
She was truly remarkable and has gotten even more sexier and alluring than before. It was a pity he couldn’t deflower her at that time, but this time he would surely do it. Tyler smiled, remembering her heat phase was nearing too.
It looked like the right time to go and meet her again.
