Chapter 135: Forbidden regions
ALPHA MAVERICK’S POV
’P.S. Tell Alpha Maverick that I am grateful for everything he did for me. Especially how he let me stay here despite knowing something was wrong with my background.
He stood by my side and trusted me even though I didn’t deserve it. He is a good man and will definitely find someone worthy of his affection,’
These were the exact words she wrote for me.
I would find someone worthy of my affection. Worthy?
What did she even mean by that? Did she think I was some kind of random alpha who falls for just every other female?
I could feel Reaper rising from his place as anger started to consume our thoughts and I looked at Dylan with resolution.
I don’t care what the fuck anyone said to her, where she went. Even if she went to hell, I would bring her back to me from hell, fighting the devil if that was needed because she was the kind of girl that even Satan would fall for.
"Where the hell did she go?" I asked Dylan who took a deep breath before looking at Carl.
"What did you say to her for her to suddenly act like this? She has thrown tantrums in the past. This was nothing new for us but she used to take her anger out just fine on either me or Dad. But the fact that she didn’t even bother to call either of us and rather left a note speaks volumes," Dylan said.
I could see Carl was guilty. The regret was written all over his face and I knew it was nothing good.
Judging from the look on Dylan’s face it was clear that Carl’s answer was definitely going to decide where she could’ve gone and how worse things were.
Thus, without wasting a second, I walked to Carl and did something I hadn’t done in front of anyone ever.
I looked dead into his eyes and manipulated his thoughts into telling us the truth.
Yes, I was controlling his mind, a member of the council right in front of the council head’s son and I wasn’t ashamed of it at all.
If it was about Valencia, my woman, I was going to do everything.
Carl’s eyes widened before he gulped and started to speak everything he said to her. Starting from how he called her a nuisance, blamed her for all the mess, doing something bad with the royalty, a she-wolf with no wolf and a pain in the ass to calling her a bitch and orphaned, he said everything.
To say I was surprised would be an understatement.
I was more surprised with the little things about her that I got to know before anger started to consume my head.
However, before I could react, Dylan pushed me back and punched Carl straight in the face.
"How could you?!" He shouted at him.
I was angry, but to see the always-calm Dylan acting so violently toward his cousin was something I wasn’t expecting.
It would’ve been okay if he had scolded him all the time but throwing hands actually?
"How the fuck did you dare to call her that? If that was so fucking hard for you, you could’ve just informed me! You... Do you even know what you did? Do you even know what she means to us? To dad? To the council?" Dylan threw another punch at Carl.
Carl lay there drowning in his regret and Dyaln punched him angrily.
"Sir, about the file-" Shadow who walked inside and watched this scene in front of us looked at me surprised.
He was probably wondering what was happening and why the hell wasn’t I interfering in the fight and removing Dylan’s angry ass from over Carl.
Well, what could I say? That sucker deserved every second of it.
"Mr. Dylan, what are you doing? He is your brother," Shadow interrupted and I turned around before walking out.
The idea of putting a tracker on her which I had thought about but dropped because I didn’t want her to find out and think I was invading her privacy was looking like such a tempting idea now.
I should’ve done it.
Now I was left with nothing but at the mercy of this council, suckers to know where my woman probably went.
After some time, Dylan came out, followed by a beaten-up Carl who had his face washed up to remove the blood stains probably.
I looked at them waiting for either of them to speak up about the matter at hand.
Where was my woman and if they found where she went or if I needed to send my own people and run an investigation on my own?
"Are you going to say anything or just act like her safety doesn’t concern you? Because if that’s the case, I won’t have a problem taking her under my wings," I said, Reaper’s alpha voice affecting my dominance.
Dylan looked down at his feet before sighing.
For some reason, I knew I wasn’t going to like what he was going to say and I pressed my lips into a thin line.
"This is not something that you can decide upon, Alpha Maverick. She is not a tool that you can keep. You literally have no idea how hard it was for me and Dad to persuade her to stay with us. I am not sure how things are going to turn from here," Dylan said.
I gritted my teeth, barely controlling my anger that I didn’t want to lash out at him.
What did he mean he didn’t know how things would turn? He was the council head’s son.
Wasn’t he supposed to know these things about her?
What was so hard about it?
"I have Valencia’s passport details in my phone just for times like these. If she went out of the country or took a flight somewhere, we should be able to know. And if not, it means she went by road and we’ll have to do some hard work looking over all the CCTVs," Dylan said before he pulled out his phone.
"Let me see if she picks up my phone now. Earlier it was coming out of reach, but now-" Dylan paused when Valencia picked up the phone from the other side and immediately rushed to him.
"Where the hell are you?" I asked and as soon as I said that, I could hear her take a deep breath.
"I am actually out for some adventure. I wanted to explore this one place and since I don’t have to worry about anything or anyone, I thought I might as well start from here," Valencia said, keeping her location well hidden.
Before I could say anything, Dylan snatched the phone from my hands and I glared at him.
Reaper was about to growl at him when we heard what he said next.
"Val, sweetheart, please tell me you didn’t go to that one place I asked you to not go," Dylan said and I looked at him confused.
What place were they talking about?
There was silence on the other end of the phone and I waited for her to say something.
However, when she didn’t Dylan took a deep breath.
"Fucking come back here this instant, Valencia. This is not funny anymore. I told you that place is dangerous for you," Dylan said, but all we heard from the other end was a loud beep that showed she ended the call.
Where were they talking about? I looked at Dylan for answers, but he just massaged his forehead and called his father.
"Dad, something happened and she went to the coral regions. I know. It’s my fault. What should I do? Okay, let me arrange for the permit," Dylan said before he finally looked at me.
"Valencia probably went to the coral regions if my guess is right. That is one place that I asked her to not go because she was not allowed there for some specific reasons, but of course, she has to do something like that when she is angry," Dylan said.
I didn’t need him to tell me what exactly was wrong there.
Almost all the influential and powerful alphas who had overseas and national-level businesses knew about that place.
It was one region that was taken by that one species werewolves don’t mess with.
The Lycans. The supreme beings of our world. They preferred staying alone in their group of 7 and hated disturbance the most.
Any wolf or alpha who needed to pass from there needed a permit to be able to touch their boundary.
And for Valencia to go there to "explore" the area, I don’t think that was the best option at the moment, especially when she was vulnerable like this.
I looked at Carl who was the reason behind everything and couldn’t help but fist my hands, controlling my anger as I walked out of the apartment to arrange for a permit for myself too.
