Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 111: Did he miss her?
Chapter 111: Did he miss her?
THIRD PERSON’S POV
"Where were you?" Matilda asked Alpha Tyler as soon as he entered the pack house.
The man looked around, and seeing everyone looking at him as if he came back after committing some kind of sin, made him quirk his brows, and he looked back at Matilda, his gaze turning dark.
"Repeat," He said one word only, but it was more than enough for everyone to check their expressions and for Matilda to lower her gaze.
"I am sorry, Alpha Tyler. I was just worried about your well-being," Matilda whispered and Tyler hummed before walking further inside the pack house.
He went straight to his room, followed by Matilda who wanted to tend to him and stay in his good books.
After all, it wasn’t just her body or rank and wolf that attracted him, it was her care too.
As soon as she entered the room, her gaze met with Tyler, who was standing in front of the mirror as he took off his shirt to go take a bath.
"What was that just now? You clearly knew where I went. Do you expect me to report every single minute of my life to you now?" Tyler asked.
Matilda immediately walked to him with a soft expression before she held his hand.
"That’s not what I meant, Alpha. I was just worried if you had your dinner or not. That’s why I asked what took you so long. I am sorry that my question came out like this,"
Matilda immediately helped him take off his clothes, her gaze stopping at the wound on his bicep which hadn’t healed unlike his wound on the abdomen even after so many hours because of the wolfsbane dagger Valencia had used there.
"You went for the alphas meet, didn’t you, Alpha Tyler? Don’t tell me that rude alpha attacked you," Matilda said.
Alpha Tyler who was pretending to be nonchalant about it, paused in his actions as he took off his pants.
"That rude alpha can snap your neck with one flick. Don’t let him hear your thoughts. And no he didn’t attack me. Rather I fell victim to a trap," Tyler said.
"A trap?" Matilda looked at him, even more confused than before, finding it hard to wrap her head around things.
"Yes. It was my fault. I was roaming the jungles when I accidentally reached the area where the traps for rogues were set up by the alpha and his team. I should’ve asked them for the regions the alphas weren’t supposed to go to," Tyler said and Matilda hummed.
Now that she noticed, these clothes weren’t the same clothes he took with him. They are obviously bought from there.
It was a lie worth believing.
Alpha Maverick was believed to be the cruelest alpha out there and he lived by that reputation with his actions. So it shouldn’t have come off as surprising that he had traps laid in the forest to catch the rogues, the rogues he hated deeply.
"Judging from the wound it looks like it was laced with wolfsbane. I will ask someone to make a healthy potion for you to help you heal faster," Matilda said and Tyler nodded his head.
"Can you take out the file from my suitcase and ask your dad to come and take it? He needs to study it before we discuss the plan. I want to hear his opinions," Tyler said and Matilda nodded her head.
As soon as Tyler went inside the bathroom, Matilda breathed a sigh of relief. She nearly dug her grave by acting impulsive. Her alpha was already having a tough day and she was thinking of giving him attitude on a day like this.
Matilda shook her head at her own stupidity before she opened his suitcase to look for the file.
She didn’t have to work hard. The file was placed on the top right under a shirt that-
Matilda’s hand paused when she looked at all the blood on the shirt underneath the file. It looked like it was the same shirt that got torn because of the attack.
She sighed and looked at the poor condition of the shirt.
’Why was he even keeping it in the first place?’ Matilda took out the shirt and was about to throw it to the side to ask someone to take it away and throw it in the garbage when she froze in her actions.
This... Her pupils dilated and she looked at the shirt carefully, bringing it close to her face.
Was it just her or did this shirt really smelt like her sister?
No. What was she thinking? Alpha Tyler definitely went to meet Alpha Maverick and took the flight back the first thing. There was no way that bitch was living in one area that was like hell for all the rogues.
And judging from their last conversation, she hasn’t joined any pack either.
Matilda’s fists clenched. Even the thought of her sister filled her with disgust and so much hatred that she felt like going and searching where she went herself to kill that bitch most horrifyingly. That girl deserved all the tragedies in the world for what she tried to do, for how she tried to steal what should’ve always been belonging to her.
It was a good thing she turned out wolf-less or Matilda couldn’t even imagine how she had to live in the shadows of that little bitch for the rest of her life.
Her fists clenched at the sight of the shirt and out of rage, she shredded the shirt into shreds.
Her gaze darkened as she pulled out Tyler’s rest clothes to see if he had anything related to that bitch so she could calm her raging mind and be assured that her man wasn’t going around meeting his so-called ex-mate right before their engagement.
As she rummaged through his clothes, she paused before looking at his phone on the table.
Rather than looking at his clothes, wouldn’t it be more beneficial to go through his phone?
She was about to unlock his phone to look through the device and see if they had any means of contact but the room of the bathroom opened at the same time, and as soon as Tyler saw the condition of his clothes and things, his eyes turned dark.
Matilda froze in her place.
She nearly trembled when the man walked to her in slow strides before he picked up his shredded shirt, the shirt that had Valencia’s scent.
It was the sole reason he hadn’t thrown the shirt away. He didn’t know what it was, was it meeting his ex-mate after nearly half a year or was it the fact that she wasn’t bothered by his presence that irked him so much?
The fact that she dared to look straight at him in the eyes, turned him on in a weird way. He wasn’t a masochist for sure. This wasn’t the first time she looked at him in the eyes either. Then what was it? It was hard to decipher and put it in the words.
He was so smitten with her new confidence for a minute that he didn’t even complain about her to anyone or tell anyone that he was attacked by a rogue in their area.
Something was definitely different about her. It wasn’t just her sass or her confidence. And it was definitely her fearless attitude.
It was almost as if she had grown powerful in these six months out of the blue. The way she took those daggers out so swiftly without him even noticing the second one until pain shot across his abdomen, was quite skillful.
Then again she has been living in the wild for so long and still surviving. The lack of any man’s strong scent was a clear indication that she was still a virgin and wasn’t trading sex to get things done her way.
She was really surviving on her own. But how?
What surprised him the most was her presence in one city he never thought in his wildest dreams he would get to see her.
What was she doing in the area that is called hell ditch of rogues? Was she so swift and smooth at hiding that Alpha Maverick still hasn’t caught her in his own city? For someone who is heard of killing more than 200 rogues monthly, it was something hard to digest.
Tyler looked at the shirt that was not shredded. He had saved this shirt to smell the scent of his ex-mate so he could decide if he was actually just missing her temporarily or was the regret of losing her was really taking over him.
"Why would you do something like this?" Tyler asked, his seething eyes looking into Matilda’s feared ones.
"I...I am sorry, Alpha. It’s just...it was soaked in blood and torn and smelt like a rogue, that’s why I thought you wouldn’t want it anymore -"
She couldn’t complete her sentence because, in the next moment, a hard slap landed across her cheeks, whipping her head to the side.
"If I didn’t want it, why would it be here? Since when did I give you the right to destroy my things? Don’t forget that the engagement hasn’t taken place yet, let alone marriage. If I can throw away my mate, throwing you away won’t be a problem," Tyler said, and Matilda, who was too shocked to react, nodded her head, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Tyler didn’t wait there and left the place feeling a weird surge of anger inside him before shaking his head.
Did he really miss her? Was he really missing Valencia right before his engagement? He ruffled his hair, annoyed.
